Fate has an odd sense of humor, leading someone who has the kind of constitution that makes her need to sit topless directly in full AC blast for most of the summer or feel like she's roasting alive, to end up becoming a trans woman in a backwards culture that is needlessly scandalized by the human body.

Whether it's the Bible or Communist theory the same monumental text for one person can be illuminating and life-giving, and for another it can parasitic, zombie-like, rotting and devouring one's brain and leaving behind little more than a husk. They are rarely anything in between. In most cases, it has a lot to do with set and setting. The funny thing about OCD mixed with the lived experience of having grown up autistic in the age that pissing on the poor sites began to be invented is that you will repeatedly and intentionally hedge your statements for fear of being misinterpreted as saying/being X completely absurd thing. An odd thing about people who have failed to completely deconstruct the trauma Christianity has caused them is that even though they reject the concept of original sin, they continue to believe in it specifically about this dubious monolithic metaphysical collective called Christianity and about Christians. The notion that like all so-called religions this is a diverse family of related belief systems and institutions that change over time and can become something that isn't actively harmful, and that all the genuinely evil things under that umbrella are just historical developments Christians are fully capable of rejecting and atoning for as necessary if they put their minds to it, actually seems triggering to people in this state of mind. If you think this position is actually logically defensible though it is only consistent to also be one of those islamophobic and antisemitic antitheists, and if you're not one of those and balk at that it's just because you know better in those specific instances and are selectively withholding that nuance for emotionally understandable but ultimately indefensible reasons. The fact that Christians are fully capable of becoming something better but largely aren't doing that doesn't exonerate them, it's its own condemnation of those people that should vindicate you. Just because you believe they are capable of making a better version of themselves also doesn't mean you have to want to be a part of that in any way, I sure don't.
