MewSeek now compatible with iOS7

MewSeek 2.8.3 is now available in Cydia! so it's fully compatible with iOS7, also made a terribly ugly new icon for it that I will sure change again in the future.

At least I won't get that much hatemail for those horrible shadows from the iOS6 version that only appear in iOS7 :p

LyricFlow finally released!

It took long, I know, but LyricFlow is finally available in Cydia (link opens a renowned jailbreaking blog who made a quite great article about the release.. they are much better describing it than I can be on this modest blog that nobody ever reads)

As of today, it already required a quick post-release update (so it's 1.1 and not 1.0) as I always forget something I can only realize once is in everyone's hands already -_-

Moreover, it has not been the optimal time to release a Cydia tweak, with iOS7 coming out tomorrow and everyone going crazy to get it running and thus losing their beloved jailbreaks.

If anyone truly happens to be reading this blog, well you can definitely go check what LyricFlow is about in its official website, which I promise to be updating soon with something that looks as nice and decent as the tweak itself ;)

Back from holidays!

Spent a few lovely and relaxing days in Menorca beaches with my girlfriend, after a little tourism in Prague and Copenhagen.

LyricFlow, an iTunes 11 inspired CoverFlow replacement with song lyrics

Today I am showing you one project I've been working on in these last few weeks, it's called LyricFlow. It's a CoverFlow replacement (hence, a Cydia tweak) highly inspired in iTunes 11 interface, that will show lyrics on screen in an elegant, minimalistic way.

You can still access CoverFlow and even customize the effect with something different for a fresh look, as Apple has forgotten to update this feature since the very first iOS release.

Moved to Paris

So it's been a month since I moved to Paris, where I hope to be able to do better business than in my hometown, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Happy birthday, MewSeek!

4 years ago, I released a completely rewritten version of what was formerly iSlsk - a Soulseek client for the first iPhones and iPod touch - that was later renamed to MewSeek due to copyright issues on the "slsk" trademark. This new revamped version left behind the Soulseek protocol to become a much faster tool for getting and streaming music content on your phone without the need to use a computer, by taking advantage of several search engines that existed on the web.

Since then, it remains one of the most used iPhone apps for a somewhat controversial purpose, but given its popularity, I always decided to maintain it for free over the years, while accepting a registration fee for enabling additional features such as adding your downloads to the device's music library - a feature that no other app was ever able to replicate until pretty much recently.

As of right now, it works on all iPhone firmwares ranging from 2.0 to 6.1. It remains unchanged since a long time ago, with occasional updates fixing bugs or adding compatibility for major iOS releases -which is broken every year due the fact that MewSeek relies heavily on Apple's private undocumented frameworks and other jailbreak-only features. At this moment there is a work in progress to bring a completely rewritten, much more reliable version (that'd be v3.0) but is progressing significantly slower  than before given the other parallel projects I happen to be working on.

However, its great to see that my first public project for a mobile platform is still popular and widely used and I hope I will be able to make it even better in the future :)

first post on my blog

Hello there. It's been a long time since I last had a blog and honestly I always had trouble keeping them updated but here I am once again.

I am unsure about who's gonna be interested into reading what I have to say, but since I'm not a huge fan of simplifying things into 140 characters (not to mention the fact I hate today's twitter culture almost in its entirety), I guess this will be the place where you will be able to keep up to date on the latest I might be doing.

I am confident that 2013 will be the year I can do some really useful stuff for the iOS platform (mainly for jailbroken devices) as I have some cool stuff I've been working on "in the shadows" in the past few months aside from my somewhat popular project MewSeek.

So in short I expect to post some updates on my ongoing projects as well as anything I might consider interesting to share. I'm gonna try to do my best this time. Stay tuned!
