Not as bad as you make it out to be, that’s for sure. ” Dove laughed, as she watched him dance along to the music — if that’s what it could be called. Though she couldn’t lie & say it wasn’t cute, & it was refreshing to see himself enjoy himself, or at least, that’s how it seemed.

Eric smiled, letting himself get really into the song. His head bopped a little more rhythmically along to the tune, his feet fully stepping every which way. Eric laughed at how dramatic his moves had become since he had last set foot on the dance floor. “C’mon, Dove,” Eric said, moving to the beat as he offered his hand again. “Let loose, will you?”

“We probably should have. But have you ever seen flats that are as cute as heels? Girls never really wear heels unless it’s an important event, which is weird, because you’re more likely to fall in them.” 

“I don’t really pay that much attention to shoes but I’m guessing the right answer is no? I haven’t witnessed anyone fall yet so you guys are pretty good. Impressive, actually. I can’t imagine walking in them for the whole night.”

“Good, cause if it wasn’t then I wouldn’t trust your music choice. Novocaine is so good, honestly. I think that might be my second favorite, too. I liked Uma Thurman but they played it too much on the radio.

“Didn’t they try really hard to make Uma Thurman a meme as well? But yeah, Uma Thurman’s pretty good. The first song off their album is what really got me though. American Beauty / American Psycho was -- is -- a killer tune.”

Dove continued to tease. She couldn’t help but let out a laugh, as the song came to an end, but another one shortly followed. Right from the first beat, she could tell it was a song at a quicker pace, as did everyone else, it seemed, because soon enough, everyone was breaking apart in order to dance. She did the same, letting go of the gentle grasp she had on Eric’s shoulders, beginning to dance along.

“ Time to show off some of those dance moves you were so excited about, then. ”

“A price?” Eric asked, narrowing his eyes slightly out of curiosity. As the song played on, Eric’s head began to bop, his body obviously feeling the rhythm and the beats of the tune. Eric laughed at her comment, shaking his head as he tapped his foot. “Promise you won’t ditch for someone who can actually dance?” Eric joked, though he was actually worried she would just run off. He had some ridiculous moves under his sleeve.

Dove replied, the smile never leaving her face as she teased him, & as the song continued. It was coming to an end, she knew that from how many times she had listened to this song in her spare time — one could say she was somewhat obsessed, but they still had time to continue dancing.

“Oh, c’mon. So you wouldn’t even keep that small, harmless secret to save the rest of my high school reputation?” Eric pouted playfully, letting a small chuckle escape his lips. "I'm sure the curly hair girl from English would have kept my secret." Eric teased, letting his hands fall from her waist just as the next song began to fade in. "Holy shit, Dove." He said, raising his eyebrows as he recognised the song. "This song is my shit."

“ Exactly, so at least you’re taking a shot, though you’d get extra points if you don’t step on my feet, just saying. ”

       Dove continued to sway along to the song, how slow it was giving them also a chance to talk,  which she liked.

“ — Yeah ??  Can’t wait to see that. I mean, since you’re building it up so much right now, I really hope you won’t disappoint. ”

“Do these points add up to a prize at the end?” Eric asked, though he figured being able to bring her to prom and call her his date was enough of a prize for him anyway. Eric let himself step side to side, feeling a little adventurous. “God, now I’m going to be embarrassed. I’d say to just keep it between you and me but the majority of the student body is here.” Eric laughed, shaking his head slightly. “I could always blame it on the punch, if things get out of hand but --” He cut himself short of his ramblings as Eric cursed himself silently. Here he was, rambling on about dancing manically the girl he had developped feelings for was willingly dancing with him. And as cliche it was all built up to be, he knew he was ruining the idea of it by rambling on.

Dove happily wrapped her arms around Eric’s shoulders, as the song began. It happened to be one of her favorite songs. She swayed to the music a little, her eyes taking a quick trip around the world teasingly. “ Couldn’t have told me that before I invited you to dance with me ?? ” The grip she had on Eric’s shoulders tightened even if it was only by a little, indicating that she was, indeed, joking.“ — I guess I’ll just have suck it up & take the chance. Besides, I highly doubt you’re as bad as you make it seem. ”

Eric smiled lightly, rolling his eyes playfully as she teased. “Haha, yeah. But what fun is not dancing at all?" He replied, glancing down at their feet. Eric wanted to take extra precaution in not stepping on her feet. With just one look around the room he could tell heels weren't a comfortable footwear choice. Eric wanted the night to be perfect for Dove -- as most guys would for their date -- and he was sure stepping on her toes wouldn't leave a perfect impression at all. "Just watch, I get really into fast songs. You'll probably need to step back when I let myself go." Eric warned, laughing slightly.
