He knew that he could have hit up one of the parties, one of the ones that wasn’t just students, but well, usually that ended with him, wanting to take a student home. It wasn’t his fault that they were so alluring. They were all legal and for some reason, seductive. Granted, he had plenty of fun, with people his age too.  He was just going to have a calm, quiet night in, tonight. That seemed like a much better idea, really.  He looked up and that’s when he saw her. He recognized her. He didn’t typically forget the really good ones.  “Well, that’s a good thing that you’re not dead.  The dark side can be quite fun.  Care to tell me more about this dark side of yours?” 

---Oh, yes. The booze was definitely the one to blame. Under normal circumstances, she’d apologize and run off the staff’s offices. Instead, she didn’t mind at all that she ran into one of her old professors, or that he seemed to be flirting with her. This was the case, right? She wasn’t imagining things, was she? “I’m not sure what I should tell you about it. I’m still getting to know it myself,” she replied whilst pressing her butt against one of the desks across from him. “What I do know is that it’s getting harder and harder to tame as time goes by. For instance.. when I used to be your student. Back then, I could put it to rest just fine.”

Truthfully if there was one person Ivy could truly be her natural self around, it was Erin. She hardly ever let anyone close enough to let them see her with her guard down and even Erin had to work hard to get to that place, but in the end it ended up being the best decision she’s made in a long time. It was one of the reasons Ivy had grown so close to her, she could tell that she was genuine and really did care about her, which was something she wasn’t used to, but it felt great to have at least one amazing person in her life when everyone else was so shitty. “See, I wouldn’t even be surprised if she did. Honestly, i’m sure she hates me just as much.” Ivy laughed. Looking over at the suitcase, she sighed. “My sweet, beautiful Erin. I might be a lot of things, but one thing i’ll never, ever be is an outfit repeater. The funny thing about that is that those were all summer clothes that I haven’t gotten a chance to wear. You should look through it. Maybe you’ll find a few pieces that you like. It won’t miss them.” She replied. “Alright, but we have to be really quick. She’s usually back in less than two hours.” Ivy stated as she continued packing up her things. “By the way, that wasn’t me making your life miserable, it was a test to see if you were worthy of my friendship and you passed. So, good for you. Most don’t.”

Most days, Erin worried that she’d grown up too soon. She had to take up an adult’s responsibilities when she was only seventeen years old. When her classmates went to parties and celebrated the beginning of college life, she worked double shifts to bring food to her family and make sure her sister’s needs were taken care of. And later on, when they left for college, she was stuck in a life she couldn’t escape. All that changed when her sister was old enough to contribute and take care of herself. As a result, when most 26-year-olds worked, or at least knew what to do with their degree, Erin worked to get one in her hands. It was worth it because acting had always been her dream job, and because she could at last live the moments she was robbed of as a kid. This particular moment, where she rushed to pack her friend’s countless clothes and get her to her dorm, was one of them for sure. She felt younger than she was---or, more precisely, as young as she was supposed to feel. “Oh, I wouldn’t dare think otherwise,” she teased whilst removing the outfits, rack by rack, and packing them neatly in Ivy’s gigantic suitcase. “Hmm.. That sounds nice, actually.. Thanks. Since I’m a proud outfit repeater and all.. How about I check those you don’t want out during unpacking? I don’t wanna risk losing these outfits in your roommate’s fire,” she joked. When the closet finally emptied, Erin moved to the drawers. “Well... It’s a fact that many people do really suck. But just for the sake of playing the devil’s advocate.. It’s not that hard to imagine someone wouldn’t see a bunch of mean comments as a friendship test.” Whilst she was a polite and kind person, lying never sat well with her. She really did believe that Ivy had pushed away many people with her behavior. “That being said.. I’m glad I passed.” She looked up to meet Ivy’s eyes as the corners of her mouth curved in a slight yet genuine smile.

     “thanks for letting me stay the night,” stevie hummed, looking up to meet the other’s gaze from her spot cuddled under the covers. she wasn’t really good with acknowledging her feelings or putting them into words but it made it easier when she wasn’t sober, at least. “i really didn’t want to be alone tonight. you’re a good pal. the best pal,” she giggled, lifting a hand to gently pat the top of her head.

A warm smile slowly took its place on Erin’s lips as she looked down at Stevie, who was currently getting cozy and comfortable under her covers. What the younger girl was saying made her heart sink in her chest; how many times had she wished not to be alone, but there was no one there sober enough to at least listen? “Anytime, pal” she giggled in return after she felt her pat the top of her head. Then, the caramel blonde sighed and caressed the top of her head with the opposite of her palm. “What else do you need? Have you eaten anything?”

“I promise she will be absolutely fine, with him there’s nothing to worry about. Known him long enough for that.” Weston assured her again, seeing her visible relax at least now. He bit his lower lip when she stepped closer, seeing how she was putting her cup away. “Doesn’t take much then.” He playfully smirked, reaching down to her hand to take it into his own. “We shall.” With a step back from her, he took her away from the drinks table and to the center of the living are which had been turned into a dance floor, giving her a twirl before pulling her right up against him. “Gotta say you got some moves.”

Erin nodded slowly whilst hearing Weston’s reassuring words. When she didn’t have her friend’s worry over her head, she could focus on her own self; she could get to know the cute guy who was taking her hand and inviting her to dance with him. “Mhm.. You should be proud. It usually does,” she informed him whilst giving him a meaningful look. Then, the corner of her mouth curved upwards in a slight smile and she followed him to the center of the living room. A wide, surprised grin took its place on her lips when she felt him push her for a twirl and then pull her back against him. As their bodies pressed against each other, Erin froze for a second before placing her hand on his shoulder. Her hips started swaying against his as she chuckled lowly. “That’s just the tip of the iceberg,” she promised while her eyes met with his dark ones.

Once her brows frowned it was easy to see she worried. “Don’t worry, your friend is in good hands, or mouth in this case. He just falls too easily sometimes and usually ends up getting hurt because of it. He wouldn’t harm a fly though, literally.” He chuckled, glancing over to the couple who were still enjoying each other but his attention easily drifted back to Erin. “I do enjoy a good party and good drink, life is serious enough as it is so this is a way to unwind and just have some fun. “So how many drinks would it take for you to have a dance with me?”

Erin realised that her body had tensed only after Weston’s response drew a long breath of relief out of her lips. “That kind of idiot sounds harmless enough,” she murmured jokingly at last. She threw her friend one last look before deciding she could handle on her own. Her light eyes met his dark ones the moment she turned her head. “That...makes a lot more sense than I’m usually willing to admit,” she replied. The corners of her mouth slowly turned upwards at his words. Then, she stepped closer until they were standing a breath away, and leaned on the side to put her almost full glass on the counter. “About.. this much.” She didn’t need to get drunk to find him attractive enough to dance with him. “Shall we?”

“Canada? Well, isn’t that something?” She rolled her eyes when Erin scolded her for her language once again and laughed. “Shit, sorry.” Ivy buried her face into her pillow and groaned, not really in the mood to move from her bed. “I have so much to pack up, but part of me wants to be gone by the time she’s done with classes, so why don’t we get started?” Hopping up again, she pulled her suitcase from beneath her bed and sat it on top of the mattress, opening it and realizing she still had some clothes packed away. “Damn, I forgot about these.” Ivy hummed in thought for a moment, struggling to remember where she’d put the rest of her bags. “I can’t believe we’re going to be roommates. Honestly, this is how it should have been from the beginning.” She stated as she pulled down two bags from her closet and handed one over to Erin. 

Erin’s lips curled upwards as Ivy hid her face in the pillow, but she pushed her lips together to stop that smile from spreading into the goofiest grin. If very few got to see her nice moments, then there was a chance she was the only one who saw her cute ones. It just took a little---okay, a lot---patience to get there. “Sure. You shouldn’t stress about it, by the way. It’s not like you’re not allowed to come back here for a second run... Except your roomie decides to come back early and burn your belongings,” she joked with a shrug of her shoulders. The caramel blonde took a peak at the outfits already in her friend’s suitcase and arched her eyebrows. “What the hell? How do you have half a suitcase packed and still manage to wear something new every other day?” she wondered out loud before sitting up and heading to her closet. Granted, there were full with outfits. “Okay, there’s no way we can fit all of these on one run. And by the way, this could’ve been a thing from the beginning if you weren’t busy trying to make my life miserable,” she quipped whilst throwing her an amused look over her shoulder.

“Let’s just say your slightly repulsed look at them when you walked in gave a lot away. I’m a bit perceptive. Its nice to meet you, Erin.” Weston said as he looked around, seeing the audience growing, some even encouraging the couple. “I’m putting my money on her too, he’s an idiot really but she won’t know that until he’s sober, so probably when she wakes up in the morning.” He mused watching the pair who apparently didn’t care that half a party was watching them. He chuckled, feeling a little buzzed but that was fine, what else was a party for after all. “I’d almost yell to get a room, but I doubt they’d listen.” His eyes moved from the pair to her, which to him was way better to look at anyway. The tight black dress looked good on her, hugging her in every right place. “So do you often go to parties like this? I must’ve had my eyes closed if you did, cause I surely would’ve noticed you.”

An amused grin spread across Erin’s rosy lips upon hearing his response. “That makes two of us. It’s always nice to meet perceptive people,“ she mused. When he turned to look at the attention-seeking pair, the caramel blonde’s bright hues remained on him. He was a better sight than two strangers dry humping in front of a crowd. However, when he called his friend an idiot, her eyebrows frowned. "Idiot in what sense?” she asked rather warily. Essentially what she meant was, would he hurt her friend? As recklessly as she was acting, Erin didn’t want her to end up in the arms of an actual jerk. It was her worry that finally drove her gaze away from him, to them, and his sly compliment that ended up snapping her attention back to him. “Thank you.. You don’t strike me as someone who keeps his eyes closed at parties,” she teased him. “So no. I don’t. Not as often as I’m told I should, at least.”

Once Ivy had shut the door behind them she furrowed her brows, waiting for Erin to tell her whatever exciting news she had. She couldn’t hold back the laugh that fell from her lips at the adorable squeal Erin released and gasped softly at her words. “Shut up! Really?” Ivy was so relieved. She’d been stuck in this awful roommate situation long enough and couldn’t imagine a better person to be roommates with besides Erin. She’d taken such a liking to her that Ivy found herself wanting to be around her more than anyone. She was sweet and beautiful and brought out a side of her that she doesn’t show to very many people. “How the hell did you make that happen? Wait, is your roommate leaving?” She asked, moving over to her bed to flop down onto her mattress. “Can I move in today? Because I cannot deal with this bitch any longer. She’s driving me insane. I swear the only time I get any peace is when she decides to actually leave the room. Which is only for class. I feel like i’m suffocating.” Ivy groaned. 

“Aha,” Erin was quick to confirm. She felt so excited that the only way to erase that goofy, huge grin off her face would be if Ivy told her that a puppy died. Or that she changed her mind about moving in with her. As she expected, neither was the case. “Um, by wishing it too hard? She got in a transfer program. She will finish her studies in Canada,” she informed her friend whilst following her and flopping her butt on the edge of her mattress. “Hey. You know I hate that word,” she scolded her lightly whilst pushing her leg gently with the tip of her boot. Especially when it’s not well deserved, she added in her mind. However, this was a thought she’d voiced before and she didn’t feel like expending any more energy on it. Not when something they wanted since last year was about to happen. “You best believe you’re moving in today. Why do you think I’m here? There’s internet in our lives now, you know,” she quipped whilst resting her back against the wall. “I’m helping you pack.”

Halloween.  It wasn’t something that Matt usually got into. There was always some party. Hell, he’d been invited to a party or two, himself. But, he’d not decided, if he was going to go or not. He’d wound up doing something really exciting. He’d spent too long in his office, catching up on his lecture for the next week, and now well, it was probably too late. He’d probably just grab a drink and watch something.  He glanced up and with a sarcastic tone to the person he saw, he spoke, “You know, they say that there are dead wandering around or something. You’re not one of them, right?” 

It took a couple shots to give Erin the courage to loosen up and enjoy the Halloween party with the people she felt the closest to her. Granted, not all of them were students. The caramel blonde politely ditched the person she was dancing with in order to look for a particular professor who was nowhere to be seen. She bit her lip whilst entering the offices, but instead of the person she was looking for, she spotted Mr. Matthews; one of her professors from sophomore year, and one of the hottest guys on campus. “I wasn’t, last time I checked,” she began. She couldn’t help but wonder if he remembered her at all or not. “But then again, I could be lying just to gain your trust and lure you into the dark side,” she added jokingly.

“You got it, kinda figured you might need it as much as I do.” Weston chuckled as he filled the cup with the strongly spiked punch. “Noticed how you were eyeing that pair over there. I’m guessing you were supposed to meet the girl that has her tongue down my friend’s throat right now? Not sure who’s gonna win that wrestling match.” He mused as he handed the cup over to her. “I’m Weston, what’s your name?” Looking over at their friends again, he took another sip. “Who is your money on?” He said jokingly. 

Erin arched an eyebrow as the guy filled a cup with punch for her. “I wasn’t aware I could be that transparent. Thanks for letting me know,” she quipped lightly. “Thanks, Weston.. I’m Erin,” she informed him whilst taking the cup from him. She brought it to her lips as her light blue eyes traveled to the pair that was beginning to catch the attention of almost everyone unlucky enough to seat nearby. At least, Erin felt that way---watching one of your closest friends going at it wasn’t the most pleasant sight in the world. Thankfully she managed to shallow her sip when the guy’s comment reached her ears, because she snorted out a laugh that instantly lightened up the mood. “Hmm.” she pretended to think whilst turning to stand beside him. “My money’s on her. Definitely. She’s got the tongue skill.” Or so she’d heard. “How ‘bout you?”

Ivy’s roommate had finally stepped out for class for the afternoon so she saw this as a perfect opportunity to have a nap without her annoying presence. The two had been butting heads ever since they’d move in together. It wasn’t that she was a bad person, Ivy just simply did not like her. She was irritating and talked entirely too much. She was also very messy, which led Ivy to believe she was born in a barnyard somewhere. She’d just slipped off into a deep sleep when a loud knock at her door jolted her awake. She attempted to ignore it, but whoever was on the other side obviously didn’t get the hint that no one was in the room, so she pushed herself up from her bed, groaning softly. Once she’d opened the door, Ivy rolled her eyes spotting Erin on the opposite. “This better be so fucking good. I was in the middle of a nap. I get rid of one annoying person and here comes another.” She mumbled, sighing as she stepped aside to let Erin into the room. “What?”

The second Erin saw Ivy’s grumpy, clearly sleepy expression, the corners of her mouth curved into an amusing smirk. Truth be told, Ivy had a nice side hidden...somewhere and Erin was one of the very, very few people who got to see it. They’d been so close, that hearing her go back to her old ways every once in a while amused her more than it bothered her. Or maybe she was just too damn excited to care about politeness. “It’s the best goddamn thing in the world,” she informed her whilst walking inside. The caramel blonde turned around and waited for her friend to shut the door behind them, then looked her in the eye and finally squealed “You’re moving to my dorm!”

There was nothing like a drink and a good party or get together to get to know people. One of the things he had been looking forward to anyway. He smiled, seeing someone stand near. “Can I get you a drink? The punch is pretty good, though heavily spiked.” He chuckled, taking another sip, knowing he probably wasn’t going back to his dorm sober later on. 

Erin had to be ‘digitally’ dragged out of her room to join the party. As in, her friend wouldn’t stop spamming her with all sorts of texts to lure her out, including some comments about her passing youth, the end of her school days and the fact she’d look back into the future one day and mop exactly because she spent her school days mopping instead of having a good time. At last, she was convinced. The caramel blonde put on a simple but tight black dress, her favorite choker and her booties before heading to the party. However, when she got there she found out her friend couldn’t use her tongue to talk to her because she was sticking it down some guy’s throat. At the sight, she let out a quiet sigh and crossed her arms whilst standing there like an idiot. “Hm?” she turned, eyeing the guy who offered to get her a drink. “Sure. Heavily spiked punch sounds exactly like what I need right now,” she replied humorously.

“tell me this is important, i was just about to head home for the night.” his briefcase was already packed up, sitting on his desk when the knock came. it had been a long day, a lot of meetings, discussions about student life on campus and all the fun stuff that came with being the dean of students. 

Erin had planned this meeting with the dean of students since the previous day---at least she had in her head. Her issue was the same one that caused her to run to his office so late: filming. She combined studying with her work life...not so gracefully. It was the one department where she needed help; or at least some good advice. So, she turned into the corner to enter mr. Esposito’s office, only to find him ready to leave. Erin’s face dropped as she pushed her lips together. “I’m really sorry. I wouldn’t have come this late if it wasn’t,” she began whilst looking him with a pleading look in her eye.
