Sunset Magazine // Shasta Lake, California: This was a super fun and crazy trip, thankfully with longtime friends and collaborators. Things started off great- we swam, ate tacos, shot from dawn til dusk, and reveled in the beauty of Shasta Lake in the off-season. The second night, a storm hit, and we woke to gale force winds that sent our giant boat pinwheeling through the lake in the middle of the night, having come unmoored. It became a giant uncontrollable sail, made worse by hitting a rock and busting our motor. Thankfully we had a few Aussie’s on board, and they always seem to know how to save the day and keep laughing. It was a fun, scary, ridiculous adventure but we eventually made it back towards the docks when morning broke (saved by the salty guy who sells beer and snacks on shore). I barely made my flight to a job in NY, and arrived in Manhattan straight off a red-eye, sunburned, windswept and ready to trade in boat life for a calm week in the studio;)
