I find it rather strange when people, like, brag about how awful their OCs are? unsure how to phrase it really.

I mean the people that go "oh yeah all of my OCs are incestuous necrophiliac pedophilic school shooter rapists that kick puppies" in a way that sounds like they're bragging. in a way that sounds like they're making being "problematic" their entire personality, or they think they're cool for being edgy.

I have no gripes with dark fiction, write that fucked up story, follow your heart, but I do raise an eyebrow when someone is straight up bragging that their oc is a rapist or whatever. leaves a sour taste in my mouth. it's behavior I usually associate with teens/tweens but I saw someone in their 30s doing this yesterday so it is a Phenomenon.

an explanation of CBC rules since a lot of people on the blog don’t get it and it’s annoying seeing the same few asks:

What ARE banned:

Characters that are a 1:1 of a character from another media

Characters that are a 1:1 of a character from another media but species swapped (ex. anthro version of a human character) n generally have the same name, lore, etc.

Characters with minor traits changed but have the same name and lore as a character from another media (“copy pasted”) on their profiles.

Characters that are visually different but have the same exact name, story, etc as the character from the media characters they’re based off. Basically an AU.

CBCs that are used for profit.

What are NOT banned:

Characters based off of or visually similar to a character from a piece of media, but named differently and have their own lore.

Shared colors/outfits/whatever.

Literally anything that doesn’t apply to the banned criteria

Generally the admin does not judge off of visuals alone unless the characters are identical/only differences are minute changes (see criteria above). If your CBC is at the very least visually distinct and has its own unique name n story the admin doesn’t care.

This isn’t to say that the admin 100% follows these policies, I’m sure there’s been some slips here and there, but the majority of the time I see people complaining about it they just don’t get the rules.

Thinking back to the time a little while ago I commented on a character that was in an unsorted folder asking if offers were okay(NOT random, the character had 'offers ok' in its description and I was just asking because there's a chance it was from the previous owner).

Keep in mind this design is by a pretty/very popular designer.

They straight up SEND ME THE CHARACTER FOR FREE. I ask them 'are you sure its a popular designer' and they say 'yeah sure I see you really want it and I'd rather it go to someone that'll use it'.

I was very happy as that was a dreamie.

Do not ask me to say who this is, I don't need people harassing them for free pop designs/lowballing them. I have not interacted with them since as it is scummy to use someone like that. I got the design I originally tried to offer for, I don't need more just because I 'can' get them.

Oh my fucking godddd, I regret accepting an art offer. I don't mind if they some art debt but I just found out they are taking many, I mean MANY debt just yesterday and today. Honestly my fault, should have asked for a turnaround time etc. I'm hoping they won't turn into those TH artist who gives no updates for 2 months

Something being super ultra cheap is still not free or "might as well be free". Not sure why that has to be said but I still see that mentality around sometimes. If an adopt requires anything other than a quick action that anyone can do for free (faving,making a bulletin,writing/, drawing the chara they'll adopt,asking for it) it's not free. So doing a "quick doodle", helping with homework, doing various tasks, writing multiple headcanons that are expected to be a decent length that only the other person can use is payment. I actually wouldn't mind if bartering for adopts was more common. Not everyone has money or art skills on hand and I think everyone deserves a chance to have a little fun in this hobby. (I know it's a luxury for a reason so some may disagree) But nah none of the above is "free".

as revocation clauses are hated in the community & not exactly enforceable by toyhouse unless you have proof the user explicitly agreed to the clause at the time of purchase/trade of design, how would you handle TOS violations? i know this may sound stupid, but let's say owner X has a design of mine and they keep making harmful content (extremist, hate speech, racism, etc.) with my design. If i just blacklist owner X, it doesn't necessarily mean they will stop. if they just keep going, it doesn't help the situation at all. so i was wondering how you guys delt with TOS violations (preferably without revocation clauses?) + when you think revocation is absolutely necessary (provided the conditions and situation are reasonable)

As an artist of color on toyhouse it’s actually sickening how many users are loud and proudly racist behind closed doors. The amount of times I’ve interacted with someone only to be sent pictures of or first hand experienced them being wildly racist (especially antiblack) is fucking insane. So much of it is dismissed with “oh I have Black cousins, oh I have the N-word pass, it was just a joke!!1!1!1!”. These same people will claim in public they’re not racist, but it goes to show just how fucking gross so many people on this site and in general are towards people of color.
