Any fandoms, any ships, any content, any format. If you can post it on AO3, it's welcome here. No caveats, no exceptions.

How it works: A theme each day, with flufftober, kinktober (kink and smut), and whumptober (whump and angst) prompts that are related to the theme. Feel free to use any version of the prompts, including the theme itself. Or, if the prompts just aren't going your way, you can replace any day with a free day.

All-Inclusive Promptober - Recap and Behind the Scenes

This was such a thrill to do! Shout out to everyone who took part. I loved seeing your fills! Can't wait to read the rest of them - kind of a personal Nano-read-mo project for me!

I learned a lot over the last month of coming up with scenarios every night. Before it all started, I was thinking that I'd hammer them out in 10-15 minutes each night, and it would be easy-peasy. It turned out to actually take 1-2 hours each night. My hubris got me.

There were two main things about the prompts that I was struggling with getting right.

Trying to be informed enough about the prompt to write scenarios that someone with experience in it might actually use. This was especially true of a lot of the smut/kink prompts that I'm personally not experienced in. I'm super duper ace, so the extent of my knowledge on a lot of these was "X is a thing that exists." Most of the days started with research: not just learning about the prompt, but also what draws people to it, and what they might like to focus on in their work. This came with some interesting dilemmas. Potters call the act of shaping a pot on the potter's wheel, "throwing". Should I use that word in the scenarios? On the one hand, "throwing a pot" would sound accurate and authentic to someone who makes pots... but what if someone with no pottery experience might want to write about it? Would they see "throwing a pot" and think that meant throwing it at a wall? (A funny side effect: to this day, Youtube is still showing me pottery videos. Pottery was Oct 8.)

Trying to balance being general with being a bit more unique. For eample, for "Relaxing bath" (Oct 10), I didn't want to simply say "A takes a relaxing bath," "A makes a bath for B," and "A is tired and looking forward to a bath." To be clear, these are all perfectly fine prompts! A work about any of these would be lovely! However, I felt that anyone would look at "relaxing bath" as a prompt, and be able to come up with these plots on their own, and so I wouldn't be giving them any new ideas that they didn't already have. On the other hand, an idea I had for Pet Play was "the pet is not the usual puppy or kitten, but a Madagascar hissing cockroach!" This had the opposite problem: it's too niche. Probably the person would've never come across this idea before, but would they really want to create a work about it? Maybe not. In the end I settled into aiming for a more general first scenario, something familiar that most people would feel comfortable with, and then making the third scenario a bit more unusual. The second one could be anything - as long as there was one safe one and one unusual one, that was fine.

Another thing I learned was that LOTS of kinks have their roots in the BDSM community. Pain play, genital warming, cuckolding, power imbalance, age play, exhibitionism, chastity devices... even with something seemingly general, like clothing kink, when I looked it up, lots of people were into leather or latex, and so these discussions were in BDSM spaces.

I'm hoping to be back next year with a whole new list of prompts, and this time, I'll start early! I'll spend the year collecting prompts and scenarios, and hit the ground running come October.

Fluff - Your Favorite Things

A person (or couple, or group) preparing and enjoying your favorite food.

A visit to your favorite place or vacation spot.

In a carefree moment, one sings and dances to your favorite song.

A lucky person getting together with your fictional or celebrity crush.

A sex scene involving your favorite toy.

One shyly tells their partner a kink they've always been curious about. Together, they try it out.

Fluff - Isekaied into the Last Game You Played

This player is not here to find love! Instead, they spend their time trying to play matchmaker to other characters.

An unlucky player wakes up in a game they tried once, in a genre they dislike. They can't wait to be done. Ironically, their progress is incredibly slow due to their inexperience.

A couple or group are isekaied together, but each person starts off thinking they are the only one there. First, they must struggle to find and identify each other.

Kink - Disproportionate Anatomy (exaggerated boobs, small or large dick, etc.)

One's partner has the exaggerated body part one loves. How one touches and fondles that part, and how exactly it feels in their hand or against their skin.

One's always been shy about their large/small/oddly-shaped feature. The other keeps furtively glancing at it. "See something you like?" one snaps. "Something I love," the other replies.

One has has always loved a particular feature. Now they gaze around themselves in awe: that feature is the norm where they are. (For example: someone who loves big muscles wakes up on a planet of bodybuilders.)

Whump - Blood and Gore

One comes unexpectedly across a gruesome accident or murder scene. It takes them a few moments to recognize the victim.

A blow-by-blow of a fierce close-range battle: the sensations of the weapon making contact, the bodies being split open, the blood, and noises the downed fighters made. The broken corpses in the aftermath.

For this killer, it's personal. They plot a slow drawn-out death for their victim.

Fluff - Turned into a Child

A gruff, serious, or quiet character is accidentally turned into a child for a short time (hours or days). In caring for them, their partner learns something unexpected about them.

This adult-turned-child seizes the chance to do something only kids can do. Whether it's amusement park rides or ordering from the kids menu, this will be a day to remember.

This poor wizard's apprentice has repeated this day more times than they can count, rueing the last words their master spoke to them: "You've messed up my spell for the last time! Back to school with you, never to return until you properly learn the fundamentals of alchemy!"

Kink - Age Gap/Age Play

One is older, experienced, and a little jaded. The other is young, idealistic, and a bit of a hothead. They are two halves of a great partnership, professionally... and in bed.

This little is in a defiant mood. The Caregiver reprimands them, and then afterwards, cuddles with them.

(Inspired by ancient Greek erastes/eromenos relationships) An older (possibly-immortal) lover teaches their new partner how to make love.

Whump - Accidentally Changed the Past

They knew they needed to be careful, but something went wrong. They go back a second time, to correct the mistakes from the first. Each time they try, it only gets worse, until they return to a present where the time machine was never invented at all.

In a deal made with a god, one is given the chance to save someone from a historic tragedy (such as the Titanic). They're told they must pay a balanced price. Only later do they realize that the price is their own life.

The trip through time was one-way. Now, one must live the rest of their life in a foreign time.

Fluff - Teaching a Robot to Love

(Inspired by The Positronic Man by Asimov and Silverberg) Through witnessing and sharing experiences with human companions, the emotions of a robot become more complex and humanlike.

(Inspired by the Honkai: Star Rail mission I Once Was in Arcadia) A civilian artist falls in love with a war machine and shows them how to live in peacetime.

A robot confesses to a human, but the human doubts whether the robot has feelings. The robot embarks on a mission to convince the human that its feelings are real.

Kink - Fucking Machine

A couple has received a machine as an engagement or wedding present. They unwrap it carefully and set it up. They coat it in oil and slide it in.

One is suffering from a curse or physical ailment. The doctor has tried everything, and finally resorts to an experimental treatment: daily timed sessions of stimulation.

An engineer has invented a bed or reclining chair with a pleasure attachment... one that goes inside. While testing on max power, they accidentally drop the remote. Trapped in place, all they can do is be helplessly fucked while they wait to be found.

Whump - Rebuilt as a Cyborg (e.g. after a life-threatening injury)

"Good, you're awake. Don't sit up. Don't look around."

After a loss with terrible consequences (e.g. couldn't protect their village, lost to a rival gang, etc), one turns to technology to become a stronger fighter.

Unable to part with the other after their death, one has kept the other's body in storage while building a new android body for them. They transfer in the brain and activate the power.

Fluff - Pair-bonding/Pack-bonding

A newly-bitten werewolf lives in isolation for fear of harming others. They are taken in by an established pack, and slowly grow to become a part of it.

The domestic scenes of a transformed werewolf and their human mate: walks, head scratches, belly rubs, and cuddling in bed.

A new wolf's initiation is a happy time. What rituals do they undergo? (For example a long run, rubbing heads with every member, etc.)

Kink - Alpha/Beta/Omega

One is an alpha who hates the loss of control. The other is an omega who hates the attention. Both on blockers, they coexist peaceably as roommates, until the month that something goes wrong.

In a world where bonding is dominated by pheromones and scents, a beta struggles to find love and a mate.

Their first heat with another person around is so much more intense than all the ones they spent alone. This omega needs to be pleasured again and again, and they still need more.

Whump - Bitten/Mauled

It's been one month since they were bitten. In preparation, they chain and lock themselves up. The moon rises, and the transformation begins.

(Inspired by Pride and Prejudice) A haughty royal loves a commoner, but to their disbelief, the commoner spurns them.

For reasons, a royal has disguised themselves as an ordinary person. They meet and fall in love with another, all while keeping their true identity secret.

A noble has devised a difficult test for their hand in marriage, but due to a comedy of errors, the winner is a passing farmer who didn't even know about the test.

Kink - Pregnancy (including mpreg, egg preg, breeding, etc.)

One rubs lotion over their pregnant partner's belly. Touching turns to kissing, which turns into more.

"Give me enough babies to fill a stadium."

How one person's body changes throughout their pregnancy, and their partner's reaction each step of the way.

Fluff - Merpeople

(A perfect storm and a perfect classic) One falls overboard during a storm, and is rescued and brought to an uninhabited island by a merperson.

(Uno Reverse on The Little Mermaid) This ordinary human has always been fascinated by the sea. One day, they find a spell to transform into a merperson. Now, they must hide their human past: merfolk are wary of humans, after all.

A merperson's wedding day! How do they dress themselves? What fabrics and ornaments do they use, and how do those reflect their culture? What are the key parts of their ceremony?

Kink - Sex with a Fantasy Creature (e.g. Monsterfucking)

One is a mythological beast (dragon, gryphon, phoenix, etc) disguised as a human. The other is a normal human. Overwhelmed by pleasure during sex, one loses control and transforms, completely filling up the other.

A scientist is spending the night in a top-secret laboratory housing an alien creature. It breaks free. It's lonely and agitated, and the scientist must calm it before it destroys the facility.

"I used to have a spouse and three children...." In a quiet moment, they reminisce about their former lives: the homes and the loved ones they'll never see again.

Fluff - Librarian AU

A quiet, solitary person spends many hours reading at the library. One day, the librarian approaches them. "We just got a new mystery novel in, I thought you might like it." (Or other type of book.)

Tired of their former life of stress, conflict, or crime, one quits dramatically (or simply vanishes) and takes up a new life as an unexpected librarian.

Hiding from the rain or pursuers, one ducks through an unmarked door and finds the other's mysterious secret library.

A person or couple gets into their silkiest underwear and puts on their favorite video. They grow aroused, and start touching themselves and each other.

Fluff - Sharing a Bed

(An oldie but a goodie!) These two (who definitely don't like each other, absolutely not!) have a choice to make: they can take the last hotel room, or they can sleep outside in the rain. Of course the room has only one bed—one small bed.

They went to sleep on separate sides of the bed, but one wakes up to find the other curled around them and snoring.

They are driving each other mad. One likes the room cool, the other likes it warm. One rolls around and snores, the other is a light sleeper. They are both pillow hogs. Can they make peace in their one bed?

Kink - Noncon/Dubcon

One wants to sleep. The other reaches out again and again. "Fine, just get it over with," one says.

One has been taken prisoner (after a battle, or by an armed attacker, etc). "You'll do as I say if you value your life."

After a night of heavy drinking, one sprawls half-conscious on the bed. The other traces the curve of their body with their eyes, and then their hands, and then more.

Whump - Bedridden Character

"I don't know if you can still hear me, but I'll always love you."

After an injury or illness, one can no longer walk or talk. The other becomes their full-time caretaker: feeding, bathing, and keeping them company.

One is bed-ridden with an old-timey illness (consumption, gout, cholera, etc). The days pass, and their chances of recovery fall.

Fluff - Sworn Siblings

One is used to fighting alone and relying on no one. But after an intense battle won only with another's aid (or multiple people's aid), they come to accept the bonds of siblinghood offered to them.

(Inspired by the Chinese legend The Butterfly Lovers) For reasons (class, gender, keeping a secret identity, etc), one is unable to confess their feelings to the other, so they instead propose to become sworn siblings.

By unlucky accident, they're caught in a ritual that makes them sworn siblings—with magical enforcement. For better or for worse, they will have to learn about each other and look out for each other.

Kink - Clothing/Undressing

Undressing another is like unwrapping a present. The more layered and intricate the clothing, the greater the anticipation.

While one dances (or participates in a sport, performs a ritual, etc), the other watches their swaying garments and imagines what's underneath.

One loves a specific type of clothing (such as a material, style, or piece). They have a collection they admire and touch in secret. One day, the other walks in wearing that clothing.

Torn between the person they love and person their duty demands, one chooses duty. On their wedding day, the other watches from afar.

A luxurious, lingering scene filled with vivid sensations. "I want to taste every part of you."

At a party or other public place, they sneak away for a fleeting bit of alone time. While one keeps watch, the other drops to their knees.

They meet at a masked ball and spend the night dancing away. In the light of day, one sets out to find the other with nothing but the lingering scent of their perfume on their clothes.

Desperate to save their family from financial ruin, one contrives to catch the eye of a wealthy but famously-prickly acquaintance, and in the process, discovers something appealing about them.

(Epistolary) The tale of a couple's courtship, told through the letters they wrote and the gifts they gave.

Kink - Chastity Belt/Chastity Cage

This device-wearer has reached their breaking point. Unable to bear it any longer, they grind up against their constraints, seeking release.

The wearer has been waiting for weeks, and the keyholder has been delaying a day or two at a time. At long last, they bring out the key, slowly, teasingly, while the wearer trembles with anticipation.

They meant to put on and remove the device that same night, but something went wrong. Now it's stuck. It's not painful, merely impossible to remove. Will this couple's unexpected foray into long-term chastity unlock some surprising desires?

See this post for info! Time for a new arc again! The next few days will be "Around the World", meaning settings from different parts of the world and time periods.

Fluff - Sword or Other Weapon Mastery

For reasons (gender, class, secretly the heir to the throne, etc), one is forbidden from entering a tournament. They disguise themselves and enter anyway.

Two rivals from warring nations meet on the battlefield in an exhilarating, dance-like duel.

A weaponsmith lovingly forges the perfect weapon and gives it a name.

Kink - Aphrodisiacs

One is reserved and shy in bed; the other always has a million things on their mind. They both have a cup of lovers' tea to loosen up. (Can be a real aphrodisiac or just be relaxing, either way is fine!)

(While dropping rose petals into a love potion that one is brewing) "They love me, they love me not."

One has come under the influence of an aphrodisiac, and only multiple intense orgasms can clear it from their body. When their own efforts prove insufficient, someone else must step in to help.

Whump - Torture Devices

One is kidnapped by their enemies and tortured. The other searches frantically. They finally find their missing companion, barely alive and horribly injured.
