Photograph by Pierre Jamet (1910–2000) - The photo was taken in Belle-Île-en-Mer, an island off the coast of Brittany, France. The images were captured within the context of the left-wing youth hostel movement (Auberges de Jeunesse) and the spirit of optimism of the Front Populaire (Popular Front movement), which was characterized by freedom, a connection to nature, and camaraderie. It depicts his lover, the young Dina Vierny (1919–2009, muse of Aristide Maillol and other artists), together with her friend Lucienne in the foreground.
