A Note On My Activity:

Hey guys. So I know it’s been a hot minute and for that i’m incredibly sorry. I feel I owe a small explanation, and that’s what i’m here to do.

First, and apology to my exclusives: @lastkingoflucis​ @oracleborn​ @divinamxultionem​ @ignisia​ @lcncer​ @gnzlngr​ @kingslight​ @dadcitia​ @nyx-oftheglaive​ @bis-maledictus​ @parricidalis​ and literally anyone else I missed– I am incredibly sorry. I’m gonna cut all my threads, mostly because i’ve been away long enough that it’s so much easier on me to pick up new ones with a fresh head. If this is an issue we can absolutely talk about it, i’m not bullheaded or anything, but I appreciate understanding on the matter.

Things kind of flared up all at once in my life: I had issues with family, our financial situation dropped into an incredibly tense place, my mental health took a very sharp spiraling decline, and my fish died. In light of all of this, I stepped away from *all* of my blogs, save for a small bit of activity on Valentines and that was mostly forced because you guys deserved something.

I love you all a lot, and i’ll be slow to come back, but i’m not going to put the blog on hiatus because I fully intend to sit down tonight and bang out a couple of starters, if nothing else.

You can hit me up via IM or Disco ( ravusaeternia#4733 ) if you have questions or plot ideas, but at this point all I can ask for is your patience and understanding as I cycle back into being here

   ://_ it was the feeling of calloused fingers on rarely touched skin that caught her attention. she’d donned a lovely set of cream lace lingerie and Boxer’s presence in her apartment had been a surprise to say the least; when she’d tried to cover herself up his hands had come to rest upon her bared ribcage, and Sybil had never wanted to disappear more than in that moment, with Boxer’s eyes fully on her. 

         don’t hide from me. 

         the words take her so off guard that she can feel her head spinning and in a moment of surprise she looks up; bright irises meet his and she can feel the already-present heat across her face deepen but she’s unable to look away, incapable of tearing her gaze from the gentle planes of Boxer’s face and Sybil thinks this is what love truly feels like--

         ‘ please kiss me, Box . . . ‘ she’s all nerves but her hands tangle in the front of his shirt and there’s something insistently demure in her demeanor. certainly she wants more than that but she cannot bring herself to say and so she settles for this, for the sure grip of his his hands on her waist and the warmth of his skin as he moves to close the distance between their faces. 

        when she breaks away she’s panting, gaze half-lidded and oh how she w a n t s him to touch more of her.

   ://_ he is nothing if not profound in moments like these, when his mind isn’t wrapped up in the intricacies of The Process or how to move it forward and he can devote attention to something other than his work. Sybil swells at first; for him to speak so freely to her is a sign that things are changing and everything in her hopes it is for the better, though the constant whisper in the back of her mind tells her not to let herself fall victim to yet another uncaring heart. even so she wants to believe, to trust that this is the beginning of something beautiful. 

          ‘ i suppose we do . ‘

          the despair creeps in after, once she’s given his words time to marinate in her mind and she finds herself near tears. Royce is a good man, for all his faults; he’s surely worthy of more than the heavy weight of loneliness. 

          ‘ what if i . . . could share that burden ? you deserve so much, Royce . . . ‘

          for once Sybil is at a loss of what to say, no prettily-crafted assurances coming to her and she wonders if it’s because she doesn’t want this to be false; only the truth for Royce, and she reaches to gently run a thumb along his knuckles.

   ://_ it is so like Red that it is almost infuriating, to say something hurtful and yet poetic enough to belong in the mouths of angels; fury rises alongside despair but she swallows it down and turns narrowed eyes to the songstress, fists clenched around the fastened parasol between her palms. 

          ‘ you would know all about that, wouldn’t you ? ‘ 

          sybil tries hard to bite against all of the emotions. she was never meant to be attached in the first place, this was not what the Camerata had in mind when assigning her and she’s nothing but a disgrace, to her Selections and herself and even to the only friends she’s ever known. ‘ and yet somehow you still make the best of it. i suppose i am expected to do the same ? ‘ 

          ‘ perhaps it will be fair of you to preach these notions when you aren’t so busy leaving false trails for some hopeless idiot to pick up and cling to ! ‘ 

          she slams the door on the way out and when she stops to catch her breath she also makes a decision, one she’d been warring with for weeks. 

          tonight she would tell Grant and Asher what they needed for things to move forward. it was time to see what their transistor could do.

‘ dearest, huh? ’ he snorts out a laugh, shaking his head. ‘ we both know who your dearest is, sybil, and it sure as hell ain’t me. but i appreciate the thought. ’ and he does, truly. whether she means it or not in the long run doesn’t matter. red doesn’t seem to have many friends, and neither does he for that matter, so… having sybil around isn’t too bad. and watching the both of them try and dote on him when he’s wounded or messy is, frankly, hilarious. he’s like a skyscraper above them and even in heels the two usually have to reeeeach to be of any help at all. 

‘ you’re as bad as she is. i’m a big boy. i haven’t needed someone to mother me in years. ’ but he has to admit, maybe wiping some of the grunge off his face will help him avoid red’s inevitable concern. ‘ come on. not about to let you skip out on cleaning when you’re already offered. ’

   ://_ his comment makes her sheepish, head tilting down so that the brim of her hat hides the flush across her cheeks and she almost laughs at the stupidity of it. of course Boxer knew about her feelings for Red; she did little to hide them save from the muse herself. 

          ‘ i would never do such a thing, Boxer dear. i offered, and so i shall assist. ’

         there’s something childlike in the way she loops her arm through his as they walk, parasol twirling in lazy circles and she hums under her breath the tune from last night’s show. if she is discontent she does not say; instead there’s something comfortable in the air between them and Sybil finds herself relishing it. ‘ what do you think Red will want to eat ? ‘ there’s a small pause and she grins when he holds the door for her. 

          ‘ i forgot to ask... how did you end up in such a state ? ‘

‘ you coming back to the apartment tonight? ’ if he sounds tired, it isn’t out of any ill will towards her; it’s been a long ass day, full of shitty people who think they’re entitled to more of red’s time than she’s willing to give them. skull bashing’s abound and his fist hurts just about as much as his head does at this point. he didn’t even get to see red finish tonight. with a single hand, he combs through his hair, fingers parting the strands wildly and without care. ‘ need to know whether we gotta clean up or anything before ordering food. ’

   ://_ there’s a curl of her lip as she watches his hand slide through his hair; dirty, he was always so dirty and she follows the movement with her eyes until he’s rested his arm at his side once more. 

          ‘ you get yourself into trouble every time i see you, you know that ? ’

          a smile flashes across pale lips and she shifts her parasol to one hand, offering the other up in camaraderie to straighten the loose strands back into place before procuring a small handkerchief from her pocket and wiping at some of the crusted blood across his cheek. 

          ‘ i’ll come, then; i cannot in good conscience leave all the cleaning to you when you’re in such a sorry state, dearest Boxer. ’

 a  chill  runs  down  her  spine  in  the  presence  of  sybil,  at  the  touch  to  her  collar.   discomfort  is  at  its  peak,  but  she  has  become  unavoidable.   the  fly  on  the  wall  she  put  to  lyrics  (  &  since  that  song  released,  she  thinks,  is  as  long  as  she  has  found  herself  uneasy  in  her  company  ).

 ❝   i  draw  a  crowd  every  night  —  never  an  empty  seat.   ❞   the  muse  steps  away,  chin  inclining  in  vague  condescension,  determined  to  hold  herself  in  a  higher  regard.   only  sybil  has  the  ability  to  bring  out  such  vanity  —  perhaps  like  this  she  will  understand  the  message.

 ❝   i  would  be  no  where  if  i  was  ever  nervous.   ❞

   ://_ ‘ well spoken, though i would expect no less from one so gifted with words as yourself. ’ Red’s discomfort is not lost on her though she does not understand it; mixed signals have never done Sybil well and she wants to tear the truth from the songbird but she is gentle, she is too soft for such vicious things and instead she comes to rest against the doorframe, parasol perched perfectly on her shoulder. 

          ‘ is there anything you need, then, my muse? ’ it is an accident, the ownership in her statement and she casts eyes from the carmine-haired goddess of song in the hopes of diffusing tension. 

           ‘ there’s not much time until the show starts. ’

   ://_ she is on the floor on her knees when the other presence startles her from her own thoughts; a blessing in disguise though she has no recollection of giving him a key. shreds of tonights program are scattered around her and the carpet is stained with wine from where she’d thrust the glass against the wall-- perhaps there is blood too, but she has gone blind to the smell of it. 

          ‘ how. . . ‘ her voice trembles in the unsteady quiet of her home and she almost reaches out to him but there is hesitation. 

          there is always hesitation where Royce is involved. 

          ‘ how was your work today ? ’ she asks as if she can simply disregard the state of her own affairs, distract him somehow from what she’s become in the wake of losing h e r Red to an undeserving scoundrel with nothing to his name but a set of fists. 

            ‘ certainly you came here seeking something from me ? if so how may i assist you? ‘
