Seeing this made me immediately pause and put both hands on my scalp and in my hair. god. I want to understand this more. I've never tried speedrunning Minecraft before, is using a boat a particular strategy?

It looks so distorted and blurry and odd, the colour and texture of what I assume to be endstone is unfamiliar to me. Most of the landscape is unfamiliar, and the only things in focus are the hitboxes and the health bar - the objective. I can't even make out what that dark patch is supposed to be - I was searching for familiarity and thought it might be the portal, maybe, at first, or maybe the dragon, but it doesn't really look like either. Maybe it's just a shadow. But anyway, what's the deal with the boat? is it anything? I would think it would be something.

Dreamlike, distorted, strange. Except for the hit boxes and the objective. Weird.

there is only one goal and it is Kill The Dragon To Beat The Game, and now that that's done, and the dragon (jean, a mother) is dead, the player has to make sure they don't die either. the safest way to get down is a boat. it will repeat again and again and again. there is no freedom in the end.

all that matters is the death of the dragon. now that she is dead her existence is unecessary. the player does not need to look at her, only themself, to make sure they don't also meet the same fate they forced her into. watching her die will likely only assure their death too. there is no respect for her existence. even the world corruption doesn't stop the player from repeating the cycle endlessly in attempt to get a better time. to kill her faster.

whenever i play the game, whether alone or with friends, i'm always the first to reach the end. i never kill her. i let her fly free. i can go to the outer isles without killing her. if i want to go back home, i'll just drop all my stuff off in an enderchest in an end city, and drop myself into the void. if it's hardcore? sucks, guess i'll live out the rest of my days in the end, lets hope i brought some saplings and dirt or have some in an ender chest.

i felt terribly guilty when i had to kill her in scuffed%. but i had to. it was a tournament setting. whoever gets the most advancements wins. i didn't get free the end, though. i don't think i was freeing anything.

there is a question i think about often, that one of my friends, a new speedrunner asked me: "when will i stop counting my completions?"
