My fixations on Malifaux and MtG have finally converged into making Malifaux-based custom cards and this is easily the coolest custom card concept I've made in a LONG time.
Well friend here's the rest of the Guild masters just for you then! Well, I guess Basse isn't Guild anymore. RIP. Gonna put a cut cause it's long.
Spectacular thank you, I'm totally sharing this with a community I'm in
Incredibly specific commission for a lad named Trister (no socials)
Love it when a client trusts me to draw something dumb for them.
Of all the out of context Malifaux things to be asked to draw, Sir Vantes is a strange and obscure thing to be your first introduction lol.
Okay so the thing that I love about the Guild — inarguably a bad organization — is that the Guild Masters are all just fucking, coworkers. Yeah sure they're a propagandist, a rogue necromancer, a monster hunter, Boston Dynamics, the dictionary definition of police brutality, Sir Civilian Casualties, a supernatural entity masquerading as a lawyer, and an evil wizard but they all also have to go to the company picnic. They have the same boss. Everyone has to take the same Soulstone safety and compliance training at the beginning of the year, every year.
It's just funny to me to think about the element of mundanity involved in this being their job. Some other Malifaux characters are forces of nature or evil spirits or otherworldly monsters or are motivated by individual desire. These guys? Yeah, it's their corporate job. Sorry I have to show up to beat your ass, but it's what I'm getting paid for. Yeah, benefits are great.
They're also all bad people, because of course they are, they've chosen to work for the imperialist colonizing rainbow capitalist military. Boston Dynamics and the Monster Hunter are kinda the most decent, on account of having the least harmful jobs. This is one of Malifaux's highest selling points, imo, which is that each Faction is awful but also not entirely in the wrong. It's a nice balance, fitting for a wargame.
Huggy as the Devil.
I expect this one to be considered odd, but I can't think of another character in Malifaux that encompasses the "everything" of Nexus. The berzerker husks, but the scientists. Kainhearse and the Ahool. All of the Eyes and Ears from their varied walks of life.
Questions I think to myself a lot when confronted with certain kinds of Online Posting:
Do you want a better world, or do you want revenge on those you think aren’t doing enough to improve it?
Do you want a more just world, or do you want to see bad people suffer merciless punishment?
Do you want a less oppressive world, or do you want the reins of power for yourself?
Do you want to do the right thing, or do you want to feel righteous?
Yes. I may be up to nonsense. Sketchy nonsense. We'll see how long it runs, maybe someday I'll clean it up and ink it. And ... something about the page I smeared hand cream on...
Writing Malifaux lists is fun
I think I can guess which master is each list... Except the Foot Fetish Nightmare list, that one evades me.
I'm curious, what do you think they are?
I looked up the word on the green one and came up with some horror movie that was a pretty strong transmortis vibes.
The lastest SPS episode makes foot-fetish-nighmare sound like Som'er.
Bringing back some of mt painted miniatures posting - WIP of the King's Hand from Wyrd Games' The Other Side!
(miniatures being relative, this thing is fuckin chonky on a 120mm base)
Messaging people for the first time is so hard. What am I supposed to say? Like, "You seem really odd and your blog intrigues me. Do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters?" What! Whatever. I will just follow you back and stare at your blog with my big beautiful brown eyes.
Reblog if you're okay with people coming into your DMs with the "you seem really odd and your blog intrigues me, do you want to have philosophical conversations or perhaps talk about fictional characters"
re: that last post, ive said it before and ill say it again: no one deserves to die (deserving is fake and death is bad) but some people need to be stopped and choose to make death the only way to stop them
I disagree. Pedophiles 100% deserve death.
you are moralizing and weaponizing your disgust in order to construct and justify a category of person you're allowed to murder
what do you think you deserve for this?
Sorry, no person deserves to die, thankfully child molesters and pedophiles aren't human, so this doesnt apply to them.
denying the humanity of people who do horrible things accomplishes exactly three things:
give cover to people who haven't been caught yet by allowing them to use their humanity as "proof" of their innocence
silence any criticism of societal structures and institutions that facilitate those horrible things by putting the focus on individuals who are assumed to be so uniquely monstrous that the ways it was made easy for them are irrelevant
provide a shortcut to dehumanize anyone you feel like killing: simply accuse them of doing a horrible thing
3.a. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could kill a child, then all you have to do to get people to burn down the jewish quarter is say that jews kidnap christian children to bathe in their blood
3.b. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could commit rape, then all you have to do to get people to string up a black man you don't like is find a white woman who's willing to point at him while she cries and babbles
3.c. if you've already established that only an inhuman monster could molest a child, then all you have to do to get people to drag gay people behind their trucks is say that since gay people can't have babies, the only way they can make more gay people is by following a nefarious Agenda to "convert" children by molesting them
3.c.a. meanwhile if you try to address the rampant sexual assault of catholic altar boys, you're met with "don't be ridiculous, he's a priest!" (see #1) and with assertions that even if it does happen sometimes, those priests are just infiltrators who don't represent the church and there's no reason to make sure priests and altar boys are never alone together (see #2)
tl;dr: your disgust-based violent politics are not less reactionary than any run-of-the-mill homophobe or racist's disgust-based violent politics
I realized how bad of a take this was after I added my last bit, i apologize for the idiocy i portrayed in my half thought out statements. And I appreciate the way you rebutted this with reasonable statements rather than going hog wild because I said something you didnt agree with.
hey no worries. we've all been there, and anyone who says they havent is either 11 or afraid of their social circle
unlearning our kneejerk reactions is a process, and it's not a linear one. its good to practice thinking before we post, but sometimes thinking after we post just has to be good enough
"It's good to practice thinking before we post, but sometimes thinking after we post just has to be good enough."
Refuge.
you decidedly do not get to keep this in the tags actually
Finally bothered to run this through my scanner. (It's oversized, so I had to scan it in halves and stitch it together.) No real point to this, I just wanted to play with contrasting colors in my shadows.
The church bells are ringing from beneath. And as the bridegroom staggers back, aghast, he sees the angels part, and his promised bride comes forward to the head of the procession. Swept inland upon new towering legs, smiling as she strides forwards to meet him.
I forgot to post again aaaaa I have spent too much time on other projects! but the damned got some paint on him
