“Good evenin.” Esau glanced up from his laptop and managed a smile.

Just a reminder: it’s Fang Friday. Feel free to pester my muse about murder, mayhem, and immortality.

Drizzling Rain was one of England’s most typical weather. Dark clouds covered the sky, hoovering over the city as droplets of water scattered from the sky above. It was small enough to ignore but wet enough to soak everything. Cobbled stone street glistened in the fade light. Outside, passerby wore coats and jackets in gray-ish tones, blending in with the dark buildings around them. Only the lights coming out of the lampposts and windows offered a sense of warmth.
Not the most pleasant weather to most mortals.
They hated it because it did not give them definite answer what to wear. They would not wear heavy clothes for it wasn’t cold enough. They could not use umbrella for it was not wet enough. And they could not stay indoor for the rain was not big enough to prevent them heading out.
Ah, the irony.
Sitting in the chair behind the reception desk, Esau stared at the scenery outside. It was the vampire’s favourite weather. Cool, not sunny, and dark. His hand rested on the solid oak wood desktop, pale and marble-like against the dark brown. Green eyes looked at the mortals passing by outside as his senses stretched and picked up the thoughts filtered through his mind. He wasn’t really listening. His mind was in elsewhere.
He was thinking about Mekare.
Months was gone since returning to his little Bed and Breakfast from the Compound. Months of not seeing her but the occasional thoughts projected through the vast space between them. He had missed her. He had missed their rare few times together. He had missed the calmness and contentment she usually brought when she was around him. He knew the feeling was mutual, if not stronger. Yet the demon resided within them, as well as the past they had endured made him hesitate. He wasn’t sure how to proceed. Should he did what he had done in his past life, and ignoring whatever consequences came in his way? Or should he remained his cautious steps and drove them both insane at the distance they maintained? It was such a dilemma. He could not really discuss this with her, for most of those emotions were new to her, if the words her twin had warned him had anything to go by. So he kept them to himself, torturing his mind to distraction at the constant struggle. Who said the life of an immortal was an easy one? With time ceased to exist among them, their troubles remain. It was no wonder a lot of them had gone mad.
The sound of bell jerked him away from his reverie and to the visitor just entered. When he realised who was standing at the hallway, he would not quite believe what he saw. His body took its own accord and got up to his feet, moving our from behind the desk and crossing the floor. His gaze remained fixed upon her, never faltered and never moved away. She was here. Here in York. Here in his little lodging. Here in the same room. Not far away at the other side of the globe, but here. His hands moved instinctively to touch her porcelain face, to feel if she was real and not fragment of his imagination. Thumbs stroking the cool, smooth surface of her skin. When he realise she was indeed here, he smiled.
"Mekare."
He breathed, dipping his head and nuzzled the tip of his nose against hers. Then, in the rush of all the emotion inside him, he pressed his lips against hers, gently, and tentatively. His senses could go to the devil for the moment, for he did not want to care. He was tired of caring. He was just happy that she was here.
She did not know why she left the compound at nightfall and she was not entirely certain of where exactly she was heading. All the woman knew is that she had to see him. Her Esau.
Taking flight she landed in the raining, wet, and cool streets of England. Emerald hues trail over the landscape and the surrounding buildings. Maharet always thought this country was miserable and too wet, but Mekare loved the rain. Taking a deep breath sure and steady feet carried her to the Bed and Breakfast.
Inviting herself into his home she stood there with her white cotton dress sticking to her porcelain skin and her crimson locks almost dripping. When he noticed her she smiled and let out a soft sigh of content. When his lips pressed against hers, her body froze, but almost instantly melded into his. Her arms drap around him, one hand running through his hair, and her kiss became heated and needy. She was just as happy to see him as he was to see her.
I missed you, Esau. She projected as her lips tingled with the feeling of his locked with hers.
Her lips were cool yet soft as most delicate cheese he had ever tasted in his mortal days. It was divine and exquisite. The minute he pressed his lips against hers, he knew he was lost. Truly, madly, and hopelessly lost. Just like last time. Even more so than last time. He had given his life last time. This time, he knew, on that very moment, he was willing to plunge into hell for it. Even if Amel materalised before him at this point and time, shredding him into bits. He was drawn to her almost from the beginning and got in too deep to pull out, even with all the baby steps. How did it happened? He wasn’t sure, nor was he care.
He sighed contently against her lips, applying just a little more pressure as he cupped her face and moved his mouth against the contour of hers. His body swayed slightly back and forth, as if he was drunk and could barely balance himself properly. The customers around them, though very few, starred. But he paid no head to them. She was here, and that was the only thing that mattered.
I missed you, too. This thought flew back, unreserved and without hesitation. He had missed her so much. It was ridiculous. Yet it was true.

/Mekare?/ Esau called out her name through the Mind Gift.
The Queen perked up instantly upon hearing Esau’s voice.
Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
You want me to read to you? Another thing he used to do a lot in the distant past. His green eyes widen at her request, more surprised than anything else. Then the smile on his face spread.
Of course. What would you like me to read?
Yes, please! She projected excitedly, a bright smile on her lips. When his features lighten with his own smile something in her emerald hues brighten, her smile spreading to those eyes of hers. She wanted to press her lips against his though she did not quite recognize that urge yet. Tilting her head to the side she looked over their shoulder at the massive wall to wall bookcases.
Anything about strong women. She decided, though a curious look crossed her features. Would you pick? She asked, looking at him with that lost look.
Anything other than you and your twin? He teased a little, unwillingly extracted himself from the nearness of her presence. He got up to his feet and walked toward the shelves. Long fingers brushed through the thick columns of books, parchments and scrolls as he browse through the titles.
How about the story of Cleopatra? Have you heard of her tale?
Late on the evening of the 12th, both she and Lady Rochford were informed that they would die on the morrow. It was reported that Katherine spent her last hours practising how to lay her head on the block in order to die well.

/Mekare?/ Esau called out her name through the Mind Gift.
The Queen perked up instantly upon hearing Esau’s voice.
Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
To be honest, since hearing Maharet told him about Mekare’s latest progress, Esau always wondered what her writing would look like. No doubt they still resembled nothing but innocent scribble of a child. But in time the flourish and stroke of each words would no doubt developed and it would be quite a work of art to admire.
Hmm. Anything. He grinned at her. She really had the most beautiful set of eyes. Anything from you will be greatly treasured.
Another smile pulled at her lips as her eyes regarded his features. Without much thought she placed her hand over his and her thumb gently stroked his smooth skin.
I am so happy you came to visit me. I have missed you. She said slowly, carefully. Emerald hues lock with his light green eyes and she smiled gently.
Is there anything you would like to do? Perhaps we could stay here and read. She said, when really he would be the one reading to her, because apart of her really wanted to hear his voice filling the room.

The Queen perked up instantly upon hearing Esau’s voice.
Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
The feel of her fingers on his lips was another level of pleasant. He had to fight the urge to kiss them like he did last time. He really did not wish to frighten her so he remained there, doing nothing but enjoying her touch. Smile tugged the side of his mouth harder as his eyes darken somewhat at her smile. He was very much aware it was not one of her usual expression and he found she looked even more astonishing like that.
Perhaps soon you can write me a missive? He asked teasingly. It would be quite a joyful progress, to be able to do that, no doubt. He would treasure it for eternity.
A slight feeling of disappointment ran through her when he did not kiss her fingertips. She really enjoyed when he did kiss her. But that disappointment faded when he looked at her the way he was now, and it made her smile. When his voice filled her mind again her eyes closed, she really did love hearing his voice fill her head, it made her feel a sense of wholeness she was not aware existed.
Her eyes slowly open once more and an adoring look came to her emerald eyes.
What would you like me to write to you? She asked, her heart thrumming softly.

Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
His fingers tighten around hers as his eyes gazed into her green ones, feeling himself drowning in the swirling depth. Unable to resist, he lifted it up and kissed her knuckles. The demon living inside her would not be angry at such a small gesture, wouldn’t he? He certainly hoped not. He would not want her to be harmed in any way.
Such as? He quirked a brow at her, curious what she was asking. His name? He thought she already learned that. Wait, he wasn’t suppose to know it yet. Ahah.
A smile came to her lips while he gazed into her eyes and her thumb began to stroke his hand. She felt something tugging in her stomach, an emotion that she only felt when she was with Esau. Emerald hues widen when he lifted her hand and pressed a kiss to her knuckles and that feeling only tugged at her insides all the more. It felt good. Her fingers trace his lips gently and surprisingly Amel was silent within her.
Anything and everything. She responded with a bright smile.

The Queen perked up instantly upon hearing Esau’s voice.
Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
The coolness of her lips sent a small tremor down Esau’s spine. Since the kiss of fingers last time, this was the second time either of them showing any signs of affection other than holding hands or grinning warmly at each other. They had been taking baby steps indeed and somehow unlike his previous experience, he did not mind this time. Just seeing her and be in her company was quite pleasant enough for him.
"I am glad you like it." He opened his mouth and spoke for the first time since entering the house. He had wanted to get this for her since hearing the news from Maharet. It took him some time to find the right one. Mortals were quite into those kind of pen as well. Not as day to day tool but as a piece of artwork. He found he had quite a selection to choose when he searched for it online. Funny how things worked.
The ancient Queen felt the pleasant tremor that ran through his body from her kiss. It was a sign of affection Maharet and Khayman often bestowed upon her, but when she did it to Esau and vice versa…
Well, she wanted to do it again, and again. And again. It felt nice, and as she pondered doing it again her nose brushed along his jawline affectionately as she continued to hold him. But the moment passed as soon as it came when he began to speak. Oh, how she loved hearing his voice. She pulled back to look at him, her hand automatically going to hold his as was costume for them.
Emerald orbs brighten happily and a smile that matched that brightness pulled at her lips.
I love it, truly, darling. She projected, one hand holding his, the other going to run her fingers along the beautiful quill.
Perhaps you would like to teach me a few other writings? She asked, a hint of hopefulness in her tone, as her eyes met with his.

Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
Then the gift I brought you will be most useful.
He smiled indulgently at her before reached for the long parcel sitting at the small table. Opening the lid, he handed it over to her.
Do you like it?
His indulgent smile made her own lips pull into a bright smile, her emerald hues lighting with a light that was rarely seen in the voiceless Queen. Her eyes move reluctantly away from his face as he opened the parcel on the coffee table and she looked down at it landed in her lap. Her eyes widen and her fingers gently run over the quill before she looked at him once more.
It is beautiful! I love it, Esau. She projected excitedly before wrapping her arms around him to press a kiss to his cheek.
Thank you. Her voice whispered softly in his mind, almost in his ear as if she could actually speak.

Just a gentle reminder.

My muses in VC fandom will not acknowledge the existence of the latest book of the series, or any new character from the series. Yes, I am not a fan of that book and I decide not to rp out whatever story from that book.
My deepest apology.
/Mekare?/ Esau called out her name through the Mind Gift.
The Queen perked up instantly upon hearing Esau’s voice.
Esau? She projected curiously and with a hint of excitement.
You have? Esau could not help but smile at the latest news of the ancient vampire. Even though he had heard it from Maharet, Mekare’s twin not very long ago, he still couldn’t help but flicked up his brows and deepened his smile. It was not easy, for as far as he knew people of her time used completely different form of writing than one in his mortal times. And that was only used among royals and riches.
What writings have you learn?
His response made her face brighten and her lips tugged into a bright smile. It felt good to know that he didn’t think any less of her for being illiterate.
I’ve learned how to write Maharet’s name, my name, some other things - simple things. Also…I learned your name.Shy emerald hues glance at him.
Then the gift I brought you will be most useful.
