The traditional family structure is one of the invisible pillars supporting the capitalist economy. Married men, by assuming the role of providers, become more vulnerable to the system: they accept exhausting jobs, harsh conditions, and a greater degree of submission to ensure their family’s livelihood. Without this obligation, many men would not subject themselves to such sacrifices.
When a man does not feel the need to support a family, he may adopt a minimalist lifestyle, with few possessions and responsibilities. This detachment reduces his need to generate wealth for the system and, consequently, weakens the foundations of capitalism, which relies on a continuous cycle of consumption and production.
The elites, aware of this, have a vested interest in preserving the idea that forming a family is a man’s duty. This model ensures a workforce willing to sacrifice itself to maintain social and economic stability.
Feminism, by questioning traditional gender roles and promoting greater autonomy for both men and women, poses a threat to this mechanism. If a significant number of men cease to view themselves as providers or reject the traditional family model, the system could face a profound crisis, as it would lose a labour force driven by the fear of failing their families.
If this cultural shift expands, the capitalist economy may collapse under the weight of its own emptiness, creating an uncertain scenario where new forms of social and economic organisation will emerge from the ashes of this model.
