I've been MIA for weeks because I got the flu, and tried running and did 3 miles but my calves were tight for weeks afterwards. I took two weeks off to recover from the flu, and have gone to yoga, barre and strength classes using Classpass. I also got a trial 4 days to Equinox and I've tried out their yoga and spin classes. So far, I loved both of the spin instructors and yoga was meh. I love the gym overall - it's clean and spacious (hard to get in Brooklyn). But I'm debating whether the monthly rate is worth it. I'm serious about losing weight this time because I've realized enough is enough. I'm 28, at least 50lbs overweight and am having back and calf issues because of the weight. I'd like to learn to eat healthier and no longer have the chronic pain. Also, it wouldn't hurt to wear smaller clothes and have a flat stomach. I've never had that in my life! I've been good about tracking my food into MyFitnessPal for the last 3 days and so far it's working for me. I think if it no longer works for me or I find myself plateauing, I'll join weight watchers or work with a nutritionist. But for now, I'm quite content. I have 3 classes left with Classpass and 4 classes left with Orangetheory. I wanna make sure I use them up before joining Equinox - but at the same time I'm still not sure if I want to belong to such an expensive gym. Do you have a gym membership? What things do you look for in a gym?
I’m back!
I haven’t written on tumblr since pre-law school days. I wrote a little during my second semester of law school but quickly dropped that when working a full-time job and doing 12 credits became overwhelming. Right now, I’m still at the same job, in my third year of law school, and looking to get back into running. I have another year and half years of school left before I sit for the bar and I’d like to be back to my pre-college weight before May 2018 (so, ideally losing 50lbs in the next 16 months).
I’m starting a half marathon training today using this plan. I haven’t worked out regularly in a long time (give or take 2 months). I wish I could say I’m excited about getting back to running but tbh, I’m scared. Whenever I’ve tried to run, my calves tighten up or my shins start hurting. I warm-up before runs and stretch after runs and nothing seems to help. My only hope now is that the pain will go away once I start to lose the weight.
On tap for tonight is a 25 minute cross-train workout. I’m planning to do 30-20-10 (with 1 minute rest in between) of push-ups, tricep dips, lunges, squats, calf raises, and reverse crunches. I’m also going to throw in 3x1 minute of planks. I have a 2 mile easy run planned for tomorrow and it’s supposed to be raining and windy. I’ll report back on whether I survived or not. Wish me luck!
The Rockettes face a tough decision — dance for Trump or lose their jobs
On Thursday, team Trump announced the Rockets would perform at the inauguration.
It seems this decision was made without the consent of the Rockettes themselves.
At least one Rockette has taken to Instagram to share her disappointment, but the organization has been actively looking to stamp out resistance in the ranks.
According to Billboard, the union representing the Rockettes — the American Guild of Variety Artists — issued all full-time Rockettes a stern ultimatum:
Dance for a known pussy-grabber or hit Broadway’s shining streets looking for a new gig. Read more
This is what Houston looks like this week. The city is currently experiencing the worst flooding since 2001’s Tropical Storm Allison. An estimated 240 billion gallons of rainwater has fallen across the area. As of Tuesday morning, five people died from the flash flooding, with at least 1,200 people rescued from high water and over 1,000 homes flooded. What cause the flooding and when it is expected to end.

I swore this was a Katrina post oh my god
Yea its crazy out here. My side of the town is dry but A LOT of people are under water… This shit is scary…
Just FYI, the death toll is now 8. Greenspoint and the north side of town (Jersey Village, Cypress, Tomball, Katy, etc) and up and down 45 REALLY need help. If you can donate, please donate your money, time, or even your blood. We need it!
This is important and we’re supposed to get more rain this week across Texas!

Don't cry over spilt coffee
It's been so long! I hope everyone out there is super relaxed after a three day weekend. Me? Not so much. Vitaly and I spent the entire day on Valentines Day doing absolutely nothing and I really paid for it for the next two days. I was way behind on my reading and totally forgot I had to send in an assignment on Monday evening. Luckily, my professor gave us a flexible deadline and I e-mailed it to him the next morning. Law school, you'll be the death of me! The best part of your day is when you make a delicious cup of coffee and spill it ALL. OVER. YOUR. DESK. AAAAAARGH. But you shouldn't cry over spilt coffee because there's two weeks full of good (and bad) news ahead!

Running Through Australia
This whole week has been a blur. It was filled with reading, work stress and RUNNING THROUGH AUSTRALIA! The week started out with snow and more snow. I picked up my parents at the airport and my Dad offered to take me home afterward. I stupidly turned down the offer and it took me over an hour and half to get home - all because of some silly snow.
