If Nasa is right
And there really is a parallel universe
One where time moves backwards
It means you and I hated each other
We hated each other so much we fell in love
And would go grocery shopping together
Picking out our favorite types of apples and seasonal vegetables
Getting meals for the week and listening to each other’s day when we both get home
It means that somewhere we do this until we become distant
We learn less and less about each other
I forget about your favorite food and why that song makes you so emotional
You forget my favorite color and why talking to my father makes me anxious
We move out and see each other less and less
We get less comfortable and more distant
We do this until I don’t even remember your eyes are the most perfect shade of blue
We do this until I don’t even remember your name
That parallel universe me doesn’t know what she’s missing, but she doesn’t feel this pain
Parallel universe me doesn’t remember the love but she doesn’t remember the fights either
Neither version of me is sure who got the better deal
But both versions hope there’s another universe out there
One that nasa still hasn’t discovered
One where we still end up together
