ooc: Happy New Year everyone! It's already 2012 here in London. Enjoy your celebrations.
Esterina wasn’t sure where she stood with the other girls in terms of education, although she guessed that they’d had a better education, if not for the amount of years they’d had then because of the state of the Spanish education system, “I’m hoping to en-roll next term, but I’m being tutored until then to get my grades up; I missed a lot of school back home”.
Kaylee nodded, flashing Esterina a reassuring smile. “I’m sure you’ll do just fine,” She said. “I struggled a lot to finish high school, but with some prioritizing, I managed. For a little while, I had to put school before Slaying.” Kaylee shrugged, resting sideways against the kitchen counter. She hadn’t liked putting her slaying second, but it was something she had to do at the time. Hopefully, there hadn’t been too many people dying in her absence.
Esterina sighed a little, gripping the counter. "I don't think I'll be able to put slaying second, especially not here in Sunnydale", she raised one of her hands and bit down on her nail, it was a nervous habit. "there's just too much to be done..."
Just out for a walk || Esterina
“Yeah, nice. Well I guess that depends on who you ask.” Chloe gave a sarcastic laugh. She knew they were verging on a dangerous topic, but she wanted to see how Esterina would react. Hopefully Chloe could figure out if she was a slayer or not.
Chloe still didn’t know what she would do if this girl did turn outto be a slayer. She had only been a vampire for 8 years, and she lived off animals. So she wasn’t that strong, or intimidating. She hadn’t been in many fights, and definitely never fought a slayer. Though Chloe was really hoping it wouldn’t turn violent.
Esterina was verging on bored, she’d had a slow night patrolling, she’d only killed one vampire and she felt that she needed some fun. “Is there anything fun to do in this town?” she asked. She may not know much about this girl but she was pretty good company, even if she was probably a demon of some sort. Esterina hoped that Chloe wasn’t of the slimey variety of demon, she wasn’t good with squishy.
Chloe turned to look at her with a big grin. “Yeah, there’s this nightclub, The Bronze! It’s just a few streets over.” she answered. Chloe didn’t go there much any more. She used to go all the time when she was human. When they rebuilt Sunnydale, they rebuilt The Bronze. It almost looked like the old one, but obviously there where a few changes to it. Still it felt like the old one, just a fun place to hang out.
Esterina squealed - more girlishly than she would have liked - and clapped her hands together. A favourite past time of hers back home had been going to nightclubs, “I’m so glad that there is one, I was afraid that this town was going to be boring” she laughed.
She looked at Chloe with a grin almost as big as the one that the other girl was displaying, “Can we check it out?” she asked eagerly.
“Definitely!” Chloe led the way. Luckily it was only a few minutes walk to The Bronze. Turning onto one of the main streets, it was easy to spot the nightclub. It was a decent sized building, with a lit up sign. A few people were standing around outside, either talking on cell phones or smoking. She could hear the music coming from inside the building as they walked up. Chloe waved her hand in a grand gesture. ”Here we are, The Bronze.”
"I hope we're not under dressed" Esterina said with a small laugh as they approached, gesturing to her simple outfit and dirty black boots. She was eager to get inside but was still cautious, the club was located by a few back alleys that vampires could easily take advantage of, she'd be sure to stay wary once she was inside.
Esterina thought about what she had grabbed when she’d left Barcelona, she had enough clothes and enough Slaying supplies so she thought that she’d be fine, “I think that I have enough, I have the basics any way”.
Esterina began to dry the wet cups with the cloth in her hands, before placing them on the counter, she still wasn’t sure where everything went, “I don’t really have any plans for today, what is there to do around here?”
“Um…well, there’s slaying.” Kaylee began, not knowing the town too well herself. She moved to grasp the cups, tidying them away as she thought. There were a few decent shops in Sunnydale, though you could not get anything with a real designer label. Also, the clubs and bars were quite fun, even if most of the men that ventured those places were of the undead variety.
“Shopping and studying. Do you go to college?” Kaylee had considered enrolling UC Sunnydale next term, very aware that her grades had been good enough for her to get in. However, she was uncertain if she would be able to keep up with the syllabus. Slaying always came first.
Esterina wasn't sure where she stood with the other girls in terms of education, although she guessed that they'd had a better education, if not for the amount of years they'd had then because of the state of the Spanish education system, "I'm hoping to en-roll next term, but I'm being tutored until then to get my grades up; I missed a lot of school back home".

Esterina was quick to move her clutter off of the table to make room for Daniel’s things. She noted the breathlessness in his voice and concluded that he was telling the truth, he’d clearly rushed to get to the library in time, “I am Esterina; it’s a pleasure to meet you”, she smiled at him from across the table and retrieved a pen from her satchel.
“I’ll be a good student I promise; I’m eager to learn” she spoke softly, remembering that they were in a library and that she was therefore supposed to be quiet. She studied her new teacher from across the table although she made no assumptions. It was good of him to give up his spare time to help her catch up.
He shot her a small, relieved smile. Well, at least she wanted to learn. It was frustrating on his part when the people in his courses didn't want to be there, when they didn't put forth effort. His lectures were easy to follow, he made copies of notes for the people who wanted them, made the assignments simple. The longest paper he ever assigned was the final paper, and even then, five pages, typed and double-spaced was frankly nothing compared to what he'd written in the past. Yet, year after year, term after term, no matter the fact that he assigned these things weeks in advance; it didn't matter that these assignments and their instructions were in the syllabus, people always managed to forget, to put it off. Or, better yet, they never showed up to his class.
It shouldn't have bothered him, since it was only their time and money they were wasting, but it was bothersome nevertheless. Hopefully, miss Saenz wouldn't turn out that way. He was a bit biased when it came to history, but at the very least, he made sure to talk about the very interesting things. People always seemed to enjoy Greek and Roman lectures, especially when it came to the pantheon and the mad Roman emperors. "I'm glad to hear it." He opened his book to the first chapter and slid it to the middle of the table, angling it so she could see it; he nearly had the thing memorized.
"We'll start with an introduction to history and civilization. Exciting stuff, I know," he said, a small smile on his lips once more. He knew that she'd likely want to fall asleep during that part, but he always made certain to not linger too long on that during classes. "Then we'll move on to Mesopotamia. I know you probably already know a bit about it--history classes in high school and all--but it's mostly just a refresher at this point."
Esterina tapped her pen against her cheek lightly and peered at the book before her, they'd touched upon Mesopotamia back in High School but Daniel clearly underestimated the Spanish education system, "I have studied it but we mostly glossed over it, being from Barcelona we did a lot of our own history instead, the independence of Catalonia and so on".
She looked at the page in front of her with a small frown, "I hope that I don't need more than a refresher but I wouldn't hold out much hope right now".
Just out for a walk || Esterina
“Well hopefully you can find your place here.” Chloe gave Esterina a friendly smile. Hopefully that place wasn’t sticking a wooden stake into her or her brother. It seemed like there was a long, sad, story about what happened in Barcelona, but Chloe knew not to pry.
“I’ve lived in Sunnydale my whole life.” she said. She knew that asking questions about Esterina, but not giving anything would seem odd.
Esterina was baffled by Chloe having lived in Sunnydale all of her life, who would want to live in a place with such a draw for the undead? It was adding weight to Esterina’s theory that this girl was something other than human, “it seems like a nice enough place, y’know, as nice as any place can be”.
“Yeah, nice. Well I guess that depends on who you ask.” Chloe gave a sarcastic laugh. She knew they were verging on a dangerous topic, but she wanted to see how Esterina would react. Hopefully Chloe could figure out if she was a slayer or not.

She looked at Chloe with a grin almost as big as the one that the other girl was displaying, "Can we check it out?" she asked eagerly.
When Esterina was called at the age of 16 she dropped everything, including her education. Her father was still - as far as she knew - under the impression that she had joined a convent and was receiving an education there. It was no so though, she hadn’t been to school for over two years.
Out of the pairing of her and her elder sister, Esterina was the studious one. She’d liked school, it had been her escape from her father for many years. Being in Sunnydale now, she had an excuse to go back to school, sort of.
Someone had arranged for her to have a tutor, so she wouldn’t be going to the infamous Sunnydale High, although manoeuvring a Slayer into that school would have been a good idea, it wouldn’t be Esterina.
All she knew about her new History tutor was that his name was Daniel and that he was European like her.
She’d been sat by the door for a few minutes trying to put her shoes on. She’d been loitering for a little while too with her satchel stuffed full of books which she’d found around the house, she was beyond eager to learn.
The time had come for Esterina to head for the UC Sunnydale campus where her classes with Daniel were going to take place. She’d had one of the other girls draw her a little map so that she wouldn’t get lost and she appreciated their kindness.
The walk from the house which she shared with the other Slayers to the university campus didn’t take too long which was a relief in itself, she was happy that she hadn’t got lost.
She soon found herself inside the library. She tucked her little map away and removed her jacket, placing it on her chair as she sat down at an abandoned table. There were very few students around, those which were in the library paid her little or no attention as they were concentrating on their own studies. Esterina didn’t know where to begin so she left the book that she’d brought in her satchel.
She looked around for Daniel, remembering that she didn’t know what he looked like she sighed. I hope that he’s coming.
It's all about impulse ~: Tutoring || Daniel
He was running a bit late. He'd finished his last class a little early, and as soon as he'd started packing up to run by his office before his tutoring session, he'd been approached by a pair of students. They were, apparently, unhappy with the grades they'd gotten on their essays. He explained his reasoning to them--which he wouldn't have had to if they'd read his comments in the first place--before finally calling out the both of them. He'd been lenient in their grades, foolishly so perhaps, and when he told them that their plagiarism was clumsy and obvious at best, and that they were lucky he hadn't failed the both of them automatically, they'd taken the hint that they should be happy that they'd gotten a grade at all.
It had taken more time than Daniel would've cared for, but there was nothing to be done for it. He chewed back a last mouthful of his burrito, swallowing as he all but jogged into the university library. Glancing around, it took a moment for him to spot the girl he was meant to be helping. Esterina; he knew who she was, that she was a Slayer. After all, she and the others were the whole reason he was there in the first place. He didn't count on her knowing who he was, though, and rather than concern himself with revealing his identity and his intentions--even though they were far from nefarious--he decided to focus just on her studies.
With a small smile, Daniel sat across from Esterina, laying his satchel on the table in front of himself and reaching inside to pull out notes and a book. "Sorry I'm late," he said, almost breathless. "Something came up after one of my classes." He paused for a moment, peering across the table at her. "So. I trust you're Esterina. My name is Daniel Knight; feel free to call me Daniel. Shall we?"

Oh, right.
Agreed. Of course he’s got that notion that havin’ no soul would be terrible. I liked him better. But no, he insists on sittin’ alone in the dark and walk his path of redemption yadda yadda, whatever.
So, let me get this straight. You liked him when he had no soul? What, was he like a totally different person or something?
Oh, you’ve never heard stories? Haven’t you read about him in your bloody books? Where are your watchers teachin’ you this stuff?
I didn't get much training, I just got thrown in at the deep end. They taught me what I needed to survive and I read the rest.
Oh, right.
You mean Prince Broods-a-lot? No, I can’t say I’m very fond of the git.
I must say, would it kill the guy to crack a smile every once in a while? He looks like he’s swallowed a wasp in every picture I’ve seen.

Tell me about it. I didn’t feel a thing until the sedative wore off. She wrapped my nubs up at least.
So did someone have to sew your hands back on for you?
Yeah, the hospital wing of Wolfram and Hart did the job.
Wolfram and Hart? Oh, you were with the souled one?
Unfortunately.
What, don’t love your Grand-Sire?

Chloe nodded. So not long then, and she already knew of the baddies in town. She suddenly wondered if Esterina night be one of the slayers. That would just be her luck wouldn’t it. To walk up and introduce herself to a slayer. Still Chloe had no real proof that this girl was a slayer.
“Where is home? I noticed you have an accent.” Chloe wanted to know whatever she could. She wanted to find out if her suspensions where right. If they were right, and Esterina was a slayer, well Chloe wasn’t sure what she would do.
Esterina picked at the peeling black nail polish on her left hand’s thumbnail, “Barcelona. I really miss it, but there’s no place for me there anymore” she said cautiously, she didn’t want to give too much about her past away to a stranger, this girl could be anyone and could pass that information on to anyone. Esterina wasn’t sure who here enemies in this town were yet, she didn’t really want to find out yet either.

Oh, right.
Maybe you will. What with all these slayers about now, the lot of you will probably live long lives. Probably.
Unless we have a death wish. I’ve seen some that were too stupid to be called Slayers.
Tell me about it. I’ve met my fair share of insane slayers. Met one once who kidnapped me and saw’d off my hands because she thought I was the guy who whacked her out. Luckily, the hands are nicely on again.
She sawed off your hands? Christ.

Just out for a walk || Esterina
Chloe thought that was an odd thing for Esterina to say. What did she know about the bad things in town? Had Esterina already run into one of the vampires or demons that lived in Sunnydale? If she had it was odd that she was here to talk about it. Though Chloe was one of the ‘bad things in this town’ and she had no intention of hurting her.
“So, Esterina, how long have you lived in Sunnydale?” she asked trying to steerthe conversation away from things that go bump in the night. Chloe started to walk down the sidewalk. She wrapped her arms around herself as a gust of cold wind hit her, blowing her blond hair across her face. Luckily the cold didn’t bother her, but it would seem odd if she didn’t act sightly affected by it.
Esterina clutched at the ends of her scarf and wrapped it more tightly around her neck to protect it from the harsh weather. She carefully tucked her hand into the pockets of her jacket, her right hand coming to protectively grasp her stake, it was like second nature by now.
“I’ve been here for 3 days, I came to go to school because I missed a lot of school back home”, that excuse sounded about right, she had dropped out after all, as far as her Father knew she’d joined a convent, not run off to another continent to fight against Vampires and Demons.
