This one shall be a list of a few of my favourite disturbing movies (there’s also a few that are also considered horror, but I didn’t want to put too many in because I’m going to make a horror movie master post). Happiness - The lives of many individuals connected by the desire for happiness, often from sources usually considered dark or evil.
Bully - Based on a true story. Naive teenagers plot to murder one of their own, who has been too much of a bully to them.
Ken Park - Ken Park is a 2002 drama-erotic film written by Harmony Korine, who based it on Larry Clark’s journals and stories. The film revolves around the abusive and/or dysfunctional home lives of several teenagers, set in the city of Visalia, California.
Martyrs - A young woman’s quest for revenge against the people who kidnapped and tormented her as a child leads her and a friend, who is also a victim of child abuse, on a terrifying journey into a living hell of depravity.
Requiem for a Dream - The drug-induced utopias of four Coney Island people are shattered when their addictions become stronger.
Oldboy - After being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in 5 days.
KIDS - A day in the life of a group of teens as they travel around New York City skating, drinking, smoking, and deflowering virgins.
Mysterious Skin - A teenage hustler and a young man obsessed with alien abductions cross paths, together discovering a horrible, liberating truth.
Funny Games / Remake - Two psychotic young men take a mother, father, and son hostage in their vacation cabin and force them to play sadistic “games” with one another for their own amusement.
A Clockwork Orange - In future Britain, charismatic delinquent Alex DeLarge is jailed and volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy developed by the government in an effort to solve society’s crime problem - but not all goes according to plan.
The Machinist - An industrial worker who hasn’t slept in a year begins to doubt his own sanity.
Hard Candy - A teenage girl raids a man’s home, suspecting he is a pedophile, in order to expose him.
Misery - A famous novelist is “rescued” from a car crash by an obsessed fan
Boys Don’t Cry - Female born, Teena Brandon adopts his male identity of Brandon Teena and attempts to find himself and love in Nebraska.
