Mokou: Immortality is as much a curse as it is a blessing. Some nights, as I lie awake underneath the full moon, I reflect on the nature of my existence and wonder if there's any value in continuing to live the same day over and over again, watching in vain as those I love and care about grow old and die. Days become seconds, years become hours, and I find myself becoming detached from reality. Should I have ever taken the Hourai Elixir? I have been awarded eternal life, but at what cost? What am I? I am something no longer human, a grim philosopher apathetically observing the passing world, a being who exists out of time, a blemish upon nature and the circle of life. I often wonder what it feels like to simply pass on, to fade away instead of awakening to the world moments after I feel myself slipping out of it. Have I condemned myself to a worse Hell than any mortal will ever see? Will the aging world become my prison? Will I outlive the universe itself, dying and resurrecting eternally in the cold airless void which follows? Will I become a god as the stars and galaxies reform around me? In my agelessness, am I myself a universe? The eternal singularity from which all becomes and to which all unbecomes? I only wish I could understand. I think back to the day I first received my blessing-curse, and wonder: Would I have made the same choice, had I been given the opportunity again?
