Despite moving to Devinstone a year ago, Mathias was still largely dissatisfied with the cafés in the area. He longed for the grungy yet aromatically gifted shops of New York. The ones with the burnouts out front and the tatted baristas at the register as classic rock wafted through the establishment. In a town like Devinstone, though, such places didn’t exist. Perhaps that should be his next venture, he thought to himself, a grimy coffee shop. Stepping into Coffee House, the heat of the interior instantly warmed him up from the brisk coolness of the outside. Unbuttoning his coat, he allowed it to hang open as he shifted his weight to one foot, scanning the menu for appeal. He wasn’t a fan of americanos, but an espresso was too small for his cravings at the moment. He approached the cashier. “An americano. Make it the strongest thing you’ve got.” After swiping his card, he moved to the side. Lost in his own thoughts for an upcoming design, Mathias subconsciously reached for the drink being handed out by the barista before realizing his mistake. Dropping his hand, he indicated to the person next to him. “I think that’s for you.”
Ethan was late per usual. School was done for the day but he was late of course for rehearsal. His students knew his routine by now. Even though Ethan didn't have to be at school until 12:00 PM, there was still a bunch of things he had to do and get done. With papers in his hands, more like scrips and his work bag in the other, Ethan felt like he was rushing which he wasn't. This always happened, this was his routine. Instead of going to Cup Of Joe's like he does almost every afternoon, the Theater Teacher decided to go to Coffee House instead. This was a coffee shop he hasn't been in a while. He missed it, but he didn't miss the service. It wasn't that bad, but for some reason Ethan always seemed to get his coffee last.Â
Feeling a bit overwhelmed, the older male took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his hair. Gripping onto the scrips in his one hand tightly, hoping not to let go, he jumped a little when he heard someone open their mouth to speak "Oh.. I yeah.. thanks. I almost forgot what I ordered." Ethan joked, and then laughed a little. Taking the cup from the other male, Ethan nodded his head and smiled in return “Thank you, again. Im a little all over the place.”Â
