When Cassidy’s mother remarried, needless to say she had been a bit upset. Hell, the guy was only a few years older than she was. However, after a few months, Cas had found herself enjoying the man’s company. There were times, however, that the little blonde resented him. She felt like he was trying to be her dad, despite the small age gap. She often found herself doing things out of spite and rebellion.
Once a month, her mother went out of town for work, each trip lasting about a week or two. Normally, Cassidy would be on her best behavior and obey her curfew to avoid any conflict with Josh, but this time was different. After a fight with her mom, she couldn’t care less about anything.
She had gone to a party with a couple friends, coming in way past curfew. It was nearly two in the morning when she finally put her key in the lock of the front door, pulling off her heels before she moved inside to avoid waking Josh. Silently, she padded up the stairs and down the hall, doing everything she could to keep from getting caught as she passed the open door of the bedroom her mom shared with her new husband.
Josh and his stepdaughter were pretty close. They did everything a father and stepdaughter would do together. It was a bit strange to him how close they were in age, but what could he possibly do about it? He was laying in bed reading a book when he saw her sneak by out the corner of his eye. "Hey, there. Glad you're home safe." He said softly as he closed his book for a moment. "Get some rest, it's getting late"
