We’ve been advised that our next step with the Plaid project is to create a petition to show that Etsy sellers DON’T like being required to give our bank account info to this sketchy third party. Please spread the word!

This week Etsy sent out emails to a select group of sellers demanding that we use a third party service called Plaid to verify our banking information. As part of the verification process, Plaid is asking users for their online banking usernames and passwords. The ISG is urging all Etsy sellers to proceed with caution by taking the following steps:
If possible, DO NOT share your bank login details with Plaid. If you’re given the option, use your bank account and routing number to verify. This process may take a few days as it involves manually verifying small deposits made by Etsy or Plaid into your account, but it prevents such a sketchy company from having complete access to your personal banking info.
Additionally, sellers can add an extra layer of protection between ourselves and Plaid by using a dedicated credit card to connect to your Etsy seller account, rather than a debit card or checking account. Most credit cards come with fraud protection, whereas many debit cards and checking accounts do not. If Plaid leaks your banking info, resulting in fraudulent charges, you’ll have the benefit of your credit card company’s fraud protection department going to bat for you.
Finally, it’s vitally important that we spread the word about this to as many sellers as possible, and that we DEMAND in no uncertain terms that Etsy reverse this trainwreck of a policy.
We will be live on September 5th at 1pm EDT for the official launch of the Indie Sellers Guild! Learn more here: https://indiesellersguild.org/launch
The Etsy Strike was only the beginning. Please follow our new blog btw - Tumblr doesn’t let you change account names, so we had to make a new one once the strike was over, and we were ready to pivot to creating a “union for online sellers”!
Our blog post about Square Marketplace is online! Thanks to @TraceElementsArt for the interview!

Seller badges are almost here! These are three skin tone versions - each of which have a canva template with the fist on it’s own layer for further adjustment!
New blog post about a few of the features coming in our Indie Sellers Guild member directory! https://indiesellersguild.org/a-sneak-peek-of-isg-member-directory-features/

A quick update. We haven’t disappeared! Please stay tuned. :-)
An image made to fill a spot on the Indie Sellers Guild website. ^.^
Today we posted our final post on the etsystrike.org blog! https://etsystrike.org/announcements/etsys-anemic-response-to-the-strike-inspired-us-to-organize-the-indie-sellers-guild/
I’ve been working on Indie Sellers Guild avatars for spaces where the avatar is cropped to round. I made a bunch of versions to try to figure out what would look best.
Which do you think looks best?
Now that we’re the Indie Sellers Guild instead of the Etsy Strike project, we’ll need new social media templates! Here’s one version.
Did you know we have an online magazine where we share the stories of shop owners like you? Valerie (our blog manager) wrote a post telling a little more about it: https://indiesellersguild.org/indie-sellers-guild-starts-online-magazine-creators-rising/
The Indie Sellers Guild officially has a website! Aaaaand our official sign up form is coming very soon!
We put our four designs to a vote, and spent some time finalizing the one that won, and here's our new Indie Sellers Guild logo! And our new website is in the works too. ^.^ Oh, and follow us at https://indiesellersguild.tumblr.com!
