ava’s eonia exit

Okay, so this is one is shorter and sweeter as much as Ava will allow me.

tw: illness, depression

Ava stays in Eonia for a year more, she graduates with her jazz studies degree and eventually moves back to Budapest to be with her siblings and mother.  There, her mother convinces her to make music and to find treatments for her illness but eventually, the cramps in her hand are so bad that she barely has mobility. This causes a meltdown, she had a rough couple of years and dealt with depression but with the help of her family, she starts making music again (as much as her illness allows her to), and like that she decides to still be part of jazz and while she can't play the piano anymore, she starts singing and she records a few albums which you probably won't listen unless you're into jazz. She performs in some jazz festivals but overall has a tranquil life.

She mostly stays in touch with Aylin and Scarlett, the two people she considered her best friends during her time in Eonia.

Apollo does offer to help her with her problem, and he says he can make the illness go away but Ava rejects the offer because the last thing she wants is to owe anything to Apollo. She comes to terms with the fact that she won't be able to play music and does therapy and hopes one day she recovers some mobility in her hand, on the meantime, she's happy singing and being with her family.

a sigh escapes her lips at ava’s words and she shakes her head. her siblings truly are a difficult subject and one she isn’t interested in getting into at this very moment. “ are they even really your siblings, if they don’t drive you insane? ” she asks, grinning at ava from the side and clearly avoiding all further discussion. “ right?! everything that can be used as an excuse to eat buttery, flaky and sweat treats should be fully embraced. ”  they move up in the queue and aylin further tries to get a better look at the baked goods, only distracted by ava’s mention of joining the drama club, which made her snort a little ungracefully. “ you? joining the drama club?! i basically have to drag you to come to more than one performance each play, only because you ‘don’t like sitting so close to other people’. truly, for an artistic person and my best friend you’re as far away from a thespian as one can get. ” those words are accompanied by a playful bump into ava’s side. “ though, i have to admit now i’m intrigued by the thought. who would i cast you as? maybe the skull hamlet talks to. ”

Ava rolls her eyes, which at this point seems like a Pavlovian response to every time her siblings are mentioned. "They do make me question if I'd be capable of murder," she adds with a shrug before a smile appears on her features, putting her murderer tendencies to a side as she gets closer to getting her baked goods. "I still believe as your best friend I should have a reserved area for myself, you're the president, make it happen." Joining the drama club has never been in her plans and still is not but she does enjoy the drama of Aylin's life, even if she disapproves of her choices at least her friend makes it entertaining. "Haven't you heard that sometimes the most creatives minds are the ones who enjoy solitude the most?" Is that a fact? Probably not, but she will go with that excuse. "Why would I have to act? I could do some behind the scenes. Although, I do like the role of the skull. I'll think about it, I have a very busy schedule."

Open Starter

Vincent had needed to get out of the Aphrodite house, never a prime example of a social butterfly his sudden turn to reclusive behaviour since his return to campus might have went unnoticed for most and was perhaps even welcomed by many. Both options semi-confirmed by the lack of reaching out from most people. There was a moment when it had worried him but he quickly remembered that he barely even likes about ten percent of the student population so it wasn’t that big a deal. And if people were asking questions he’d need to give them answers and he wasn’t sure that he was ready for that yet - he hadn’t crafted the charade properly yet.

Today’s adventure was to be one of comforts - providing some small joys to keep him ticking over - which is how Vincent found himself in the isles of Re-reads. He’d kept his head down and was idly looking for some new additions to his collection when he noticed that he was no longer alone. Vincent watched them casually out the side of his eyes as they continued to peruse the books before stepping in, his voice softer than usual and with a warmth that many might find strange. “I know that you didn’t ask but if I were you I’d definitely take that one, personally think Wide Sargasso Sea is superior to Jane Eyre in basically every way. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it.”

Granted, the bookstore is not one of her favorite places to be. Ava is not much of a reader, and it already takes a lot of effort to focus and read what she must for her classes, so do it as a leisure activity was a no. However, she does enjoy the atmosphere of this place but what she loves the most is that everyone seems to mind their own business, too busy with their noses stuck in a book to mind her presence and her lack of knowledge. She's roaming the halls, looking at some books with nice covers and making the effort to read the back cover. Some stories interest her but she just knows her attention span was not enough to read an entire book without having a headache for days.

She's staring at a copy of Wide Sargasso Sea when someone disrupts her quiet time and to her surprise is Vincent. She hadn't seen him on campus in what seemed forever, but she never thought much of it. "I didn't know you could read," she replies but being rude to Vincent right now didn't seem right. "I wouldn't know. I've never read Jane Eyre," she says, her tone more amicable now, a silent apology for her previous comment. "I-I don't read a lot actually."

    “𝐇𝐄𝐘! 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐍'𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃 to see a shiny knife laying around, have you? i just got back to my cabin and noticed it was missing— and if you took it, i’m just going to prewarn you that i will notice and charmspeak you to never want to even look at a blade again,” an innocent smile followed to her unnecessary threat, eyes exchanging between the grass and then back to the individual she just interrupted. “it probably would end up being my fault if someone lost a foot, hm?”

It takes a few seconds to realize the daughter of Aphrodite is talking to her. She puts down the bow and shakes her head before the other starts threatening her with her powers. "I don't have your stupid knife, I have no interest in having anything that belongs to you," she says and she's about to pick up her bow when she starts talking again. Frustrated, Ava lets out a sigh before adding, "Do you want to search me?" she says, extending both of her arms.

Libraries. People often tend to romanticize them and while Ava agrees that this place does look straight out of a movie, she doesn't get the appeal. However, it is one of the few places where she could find some solitude and silence but ironically, the only one disrupting the silence in this place is herself. It's not really her fault that she's encountered videos of people falling and if you know her, then you would know that is peak comedy for her. She tries to keep it down but when she watches a girl learning how to ride back and falling into the bushes, she can't stop herself but let out a loud laugh.

"I need you to take care of practice today," Ava starts, without giving her sister a warm greeting or even saying please. Today, she's in a bad mood, yes, more than usual. This kind of mood is special for it has a reason, the inevitable cramp in her hand that provokes a small and short-lived tremor mostly felt between her middle and ring finger, while not painful it involves the entire muscle of the arm, and its power can move a heavy object like a table. This is why she can't make it to archery practice today, not when she can't even get a good grip of the bow. "Maybe tomorrow too, I'm not sure yet." It would be a lot easier if Ava trusted her siblings enough to let them know what was happening but not today. "Is that okay with you? or I can ask Paloma to do it."

Fireside records it's not the best record store she had ever been at, but for a small village like this one, it has some decent content. A semblance of a smile spreads across her features as soon as she steps into the record store.  There were several reasons why Ava refused to go fully commit to streaming services as their convenience could never rival the chance to venture outside and inhale some oxygen, and above all, take some time away from her siblings. She's not one to approach people but when she spots Rory, she can't help but feel curious about what he's looking for. Discreetly she starts walking to where he is, pretending to stretch to look at what he's looking at. "Ah," she says, impressed by his choice. "Who would have thought you had decent taste in music," she adds as she picks up an album.

status    :    closed  starter  for  @euava​​. setting    :    carnival  day  two,    at  the  bumper  cars.

          it’s  a  mad  scramble  to  the  cars  when  the  rope  is  lifted  and  the  next  group  of  people  permitted  in.    mimi’s  ahead  of  everyone  else,    her  sights  already  set  on  a  bright  red  car  with  yellow  flames  licking  over  its  bumper.    she  gets  in  before  anyone  else  has  a  chance  to  steal  it  from  her,    sitting  herself  down  and  placing  hands  over  the  steering  wheel.    looking  up,    she  spots  ava  across  the  way  and  shoots  a  mischievous  look  in  the  other  girl’s  direction.    a  finger  points  to  herself,    then  towards  ava    ⸺    mimi  can  never  resist  a  challenge.               ❛❛      hey  ava    !    bet  you  ten  euros  that  you  won’t  catch  me  in  here    !      ❜❜               she  calls  out,    her  eyes  sparkling  with  every  word  that  leaves  her  lips.

She hasn't been in one of these cars since she was a child and she had fewer anger issues, so this experience is exciting and she wonders if it will be as cathartic as she hopes. Her eyes laid on a blue car and she takes it, not because she loves blue or anything but because it is in a perfect location. She's getting used to the steering wheel and adjusting her seat when she hears Mimi's voice, a small smile appearing on her lips. "Consider those ten euros lost," she replies with an unusual cocky tone. It's all in good fun, she doesn't dislike Mimi but she does love a good competition.

[ closed starter - @euava​ ] He came here with a fencing teammate– never one to join in on these things all by himself. The music is loud as the siren rings and he steps into the platform grinning with a nod at the other as he settles for an electric blue vehicle. One foot into the machine, he spots Ava and a smirk appears on his face as he lowers himself into the black seat.

While she didn't plan to indulge in the carnival activities, the bumper cars are somewhat addicting and they are a great resource to release stress. She picks a yellow one, the only one left because she doesn't care about colors, just about bumping her car into another. From her seat, she spots a quite annoying and shallow figure, Nicolai. Suddenly she feels the urge to start the game and just ramp up her car against his. "Are you also going to cheat on this as you do in chess?"

squeezing one eye shut and then the other, vanessa aims with meticulous precision. how different can basketball be from volleyball, a sport they’ve dominated all through middle and high school? the attendant says something — maybe advice on how to position their arms or how to shoot — but vanessa shoots them a glare that has them sheepishly backing away. they will make this shot, and it will be because of their own skill. they shoot, arms arching as vanessa has seen professionals do hundreds of time — “goddammit it,” she mumbles when the ball misses the net. it takes a moment to calm herself, with one hand covering her eyes and her shoulders heaving in a sigh. when vanessa looks up, she’s surprised to see a familiar face, offering an embarrassed smile of her own. “i’ve been trying for like, an hour to get the grand prize. i think it’s a hopeless cause, though.”     // OPEN TO ALL

While the carnival wouldn't be her first choice for fun, she does enjoy seeing people failing at the game alley. It's funny how they keep trying and only getting more frustrated, how the attendants smile because they know their game is rigged and no one can win. It even makes her smile that is until the daughter of Poseidon speaks to her. Why did people need to talk to her? Was her resting bitch face not enough? "Maybe basketball is not your thing. I know you're good at volleyball but one sport doesn't apply to another. Look at Michael Jordan, great basketball player but terrible baseballer."

             STANDING BESIDE HIS NOW pile of stuffed prizes, teddy won yet another game on the row of tents, smiling proudly as he looked at the wall of plushies. “um….” he hummed out, eyes squinting as he tried to pick something good, not even noticing the slight annoyance of the worker before he stopped someone in passing, “what would you pick??” teddy asked as he motioned to the rows of prizes with curiosity gleaming in his childlike eyes.

Ava is determined to get a frozen lemonade and no one could stop her on her quest, except, of course, Mr. 'Golden Boy' himself, Theodore. "Listen, Thundercat, I have places to be," she replies with a scoff and a roll of her eyes. So, this is what The Rolling Stones meant when they sang you can't always get what you want. "If I pick one would you leave me alone? Okay that one," she points out at a plush avocado.

The phrase I’ll make you a deal is a dangerous one for the daughter of Apollo because just the implication of it awakens her competitive spirit. Plus, she's always in the mood to kick the ass of a Zeus child, so why not? "A month," she pretends to consider the offer even if her mind is already made up. "Alright, sparkles, let's do it. But I have to warn you I have expensive taste in booze, are you still in?"

SHE HAS ABOUT TEN MINUTES , GIVE OR TAKE before she knows mimi is expecting her back. using the classic ‘brb, bathroom break’, she turns the corner toward the most exciting part of the carnival ― the prizes. as she reaches the game alley, she spots a familiar figure which causes a smile to curve on her lips. tapping the other’s shoulder, she stands with her hands behind her back, swinging from side to side as she bats her eyelashes. sweet dulcet intertwined with a hint of deviousness, “for the sake of time, let me just get to the point ― what will it take for you to win me, that?” she says as she points to one of the stuffed animals on the prize wall.

The game alley is too crowded for her taste which she knows it's a silly thought considering she's in a carnival and crowds are expected. This, however, doesn't mean she's enjoying herself. However, she promised Aylin she would come with her and now she has no idea where her best friend is and she has no choice but to find something else to do while she waits for her to reply to her texts. She's watching some people play (and fail which yes, it's pretty funny) when someone dares to speak to her. The nerve. She turns and well at least it's someone she doesn't hate. "Wh—" she trails off, looking at what she's pointing at before shaking her head. "Oh, Vi, I'm not good at these kind of games." That's a lie, she's the captain of the archery team (sure, her hand wasn't at her best but the aim was still there) but she also doesn't want anything to do with these games.
