      he knows why she can’t come out, but marius decides to ask ANYWAYS. ❛ then why can’t you? ❜ he murmurs, placing his other hand on the gate’s bars. the male uses this to pull himself closer to cosette, and there, in that moment, marius takes the opportunity just to — look at cosette. the light is dancing off her features in a way that’s making her look even more beautiful than usual. her hair fell in perfect curls around her face, and framed it in a way that he could only describe as angelic. ❛ i’m glad we at least have this. some people don’t even get this chance. ❜

    ❝oh, you know how papa is.❞ smile seems slightly forced, just for a moment –– temptation is presented and she attempts to gently ignore its pleas for satisfaction. if she had no sense of morality, perhaps she would have been outside this gate for hours now, laughing and talking with marius in the moonlight. how the concept enthralled her!! though her lover quickly lowers her fantasies back to earth again with a realistic perspective –– they are lucky to even meet with a small inconvenience, blessed to see each other in the moonlight! ❝––you are right, how lucky we are to be able to see each other even after a long while spent apart.❞
