@eurobiddies
baby and i said goodbye in the iceland airport and i went to boston/braden to nyc. our eurobiddy adventures are over! saddest.
Our second day we finally went to the Louvre which was overwhelming and hot and busy and not about seeing the work but just about being in the louvre. Then to the Louis Vuitton Foundation which had the best show ever and is in a magical building. Oops we had dumplings for dinner again.
Our first last day in Paris! We checked out the normal tourist points for my friend Tara and had chinese for din <3
Zadar, Croatia
Zadar, Croatia
We stayed at the cutest Airbnb kind of in the burbs of tiny Zadar. The guy said all of his sister and his father paint and all their paintings were hung around the house/apartment. Zadar is tiny! But beautiful and people are nice. We explored the main part in a day and went to Uglijan Island the next day. Basically- perfect hiking, yummy food, clear waters and 1 usd to 6.4 kuna.
Madrid
So the ride share that we picked and met up with in the A.M.- had car trouble aka dead battery. We sat around for a couple hours making us late to our 6pm bull fight in Madrid. Then got mega lost trying to find our Airbnb but alas made it/ate a bunch of fried tapas and went to bed. Our next day started out much much better. We only had one goal- to go to the San Miguel Market. On our way there I found bubble tea! (im deprived of most food living in the french mountains) We ate a million delicious things and got a lil boozey. Then we just wandered around. I like Madrid a lot. lots of cute places to eat and shop and decent prices. Also went to the Reina Sofia which was crazy huge and filled with french teens. Good tho. Royal Palace was laughable people have rooms for nothing! With porcelain walls. Recent royal portrait is embarassing. I got to meet an artist I interviewed in her shop FEEAS and that was v cute. Overrall A+
Barcelona
Braden stayed home while I went to meet my friends from college in Barcelona. I took a fun 8 hour bus :)
Barce was actually not all that I hoped for? We checked out the gothic quarter/picasso museum- There was a Maria Lassnig show A+ We paid to go walk around inside La Sagrada Familia but didnt pay to go inside the other famous buildings. Also did some hiking at Montserrat, which was pretty and had some free cheese. um.. but then we took a blablah car to Madrid through a marathon
Sorry it's been a min!
We were going to go to Switzerland the first weekend in April but we went to Marseille instead to met Chloe and co. It was super windy- we went up to see Basilique Notre Dame de la Garde. The church you can see from all around Marseille. We ate a bunch of snacks and tried to go out to a club but I failed and went home with Alex and Rj. Baby bra and I went home in the a.m. just a short baby visit.
Heres us chillin with the rugs guy. He wanted a lot of pix taken.
From there we met our tour guide, Moustafa. He was only speaking spanish to us at first, he basically became our guide whether we wanted it or not. There was no way we would have seen everything we did or managed by ourselves though. Moustafa was super chill. He loved to speak a bunch of languages with us. He would say it in French then Spanish and in Arabic. He walked mega fast and took us into every little shop to see the people hand crafting shoes etc. The only picture i have of him is the first one, where hes holding the line of silk someone was spinning in the street. Picture 2 is of the animal market where people bring chickens and bunnies to sell. We took one break with Moustafa and had mint tea in a cafe. He told us a little about his life. He has 11 brothers and sisters and his family is of the Berber people. The rest of his family lives in the Sahara desert and gives tours. He was born in Fez and has only travelled a little bit in Morocco. He kept teaching us words in Arabic and Italian and Japanese. He loved saying little things that rhymed. Picture three is a view from where we were at the ceramic factory. Picture 4 is of wooden beams holding up buildings in tight streets. Picture 5 was in a communal bakery. He explained to us that because the hand of Fatima has 5 fingers there must be 5 communal things in each community (water fountain (picture 6), bakery, Quran School, and I cant remember the other two..) Picture 7 another view- green, red, white Picture 8 the tannery. It was super clearly explained that all the processes used were natural and non chemical/ non harmful. The skins are first washed in a wheel house, then soaked in the white vats on the left consisting of piegeon poop and some other natural stuff, then left to dry and soaked in various natural colors made from paprika, saffron, mint, cedar wood, etc and left to dry again. It didnt smell when we were there due to wind direction. Picture 9 just some ground near a ceramic factory.
In the morning, we started out at an internet hut to try and get some directions and check in. We basically made our one goal to find the tannery but our plan was just to wander around all day. We got a donut for 1 dirham and started a very messy adventure by ourselves.
Fez, Morocco! So, we had originally reserved an Airbnb- however when we arrived the guy said something like we hadnt confirmed so he put other people in the apartment? Or something? But it worked out and he found us this very basic apartment.
