Due to them having been neighbours, both of them had gotten the spare key to the other's apartment pretty early on. The trust had been there from the get go, considering they had gotten along from the very first moment. However, it wasn't until they got much closer that Evan began to use that spare key to leave groceries for her when he had been out to buy some for himself or single flowers he gets her regularly.

Evan demands to worship her body first whenever they get intimate before he lets her have the reins. Therefore a quickie is hardly to never on the table and they have been late to appointments due to that a number of times.

Ever since Charlie set her stove on fire Evan keeps having a hard time to leave the kitchen in her hands. Although he actively tries to let go of the worry of it happening again, he fails time and time again and somehow always ends up at her side to at least take a look over her shoulder to see what she's doing.

Due to Evan getting pretty uneasy whenever disagreements arise he tends to suggest for them to take a breather first and sort their thoughts before they have a conversation about it. It's important to him that they keep it civil and figure out a solution together.

Feelings are a peculiar thing, even though Evan feels everything intensly a lot of the time. That he cared about Charlie and cherished her friendship was always something he never hid from her as having her know she wasn't alone, even before he learned about her being a werewolf, was important to him. He knew too well how it felt having to fight alone, to find the path for oneself in life. That's why he never wants anyone he cares about to have to go through that when he can do something about it.
But that one late afternoon in which they had sat outside in silence for a little while, Evan had been busy with his phone at the time while Charlie had been gazing elsewhere, that everything suddenly changed. Because when he had looked up and his gaze landed on her he was certain he had never seen anyone more beautiful than her.
How the rays of sunlight had fallen on Charlie in such an angle that for the moment Evan had believed he was looking at a masterpiece of a painting and he had wanted to capture that moment in a sketch, yet had not have his sketch book on him at the time. Taking a photo with his phone had been a second thought, however he had known it wouldn't do it justice. So he memorized that moment and was certain, the second Charlie had turned her head and met his gaze, she had heard the increased drumming of his heart. And if it wasn't that, the sheepish smile and awkward attempt to hide he had been staring at her might have given him away.
