Death has kissed our hearts | Evemus
Remus: caught Eva at the last moment - after forcing his numb body to react - and slowly lowered her to the floor, his arms around her shaking. This couldn't be happening. He'd never meant to - he hadn't even noticed - he'd been so worked up... his eyes fell on the knife once more, and oh /Jesus/, she was bleeding. It was coming out so fast, soaking out through her shirt. With one hand around her shoulders, holding her up, he went for the knife with the other - but hesitated, his mind hazy. No. If he pulled it out, she'd bleed faster, and she'd die - but she wouldn't die. She couldn't die. "No," He murmured, a weak noise, barely loud enough to hear. "I didn't mean to - I'm so sorry, I can't - oh, /Jesus/," His breathing was shallow now, and he ignored the pain of his head as best he could, using his free hand now to wipe the hair away from Eva's face. "I'll - I'll take you to the hospital. It's gonna be okay, okay? You'll be okay. You /have/ to be okay."
Eva: could hardly feel the pain, it was as though her body was falling into a shock. She could feel Remus catch her though. She felt him brush away the wetness on her cheeks and god she had to be dreaming still. This was a nightmare. With a shuddered breath, Eva reached up and cupped Remus' cheek in her hand. Tears blurred her vision and she tried to ignore the feeling of her blood pool around them on the floor. Already she was getting lightheaded and somewhere inside of her she knew she wasn't going to last long. Remus must've - he must've punctured an organ. "Just...hold me." She managed through the shock, her eyes never leaving his. "Please just hold me." If she was going to die then at least she'd die in Remus' arms. And so she just laid there, one hand smearing her blood on Remus' cheek, the other limp at her side. Her eyes never left his. She drank in Remus' face, his everything until the edges of her vision blackened, until that black slowly took over her whole vision and her hand went limp and fell from Remus' face.
