Mekhela couldn’t help but face palm herself a little at the mention of such an idea. She had actually forgotten that there were such things as mocktails. She tended to stick to wines and fruity mixed drinks when she was able to drink anyways so there really wouldn’t much different in taste anyways. She decided to wave the bartender down with a new found smile on her face “I’ll have a sex on the beach.” She informs him “Clean though, no alcohol please.” She smiles gently. Once the man nodded and went off to do his job Mekhela turned back to the stranger “Has anyone ever told you that you’re a life saver?” She questioned her with a smile “For real I was getting sick of how bland my night was panning out to be.” She chuckles.
Evelyn smiled as the other managed to order a mocktail instead of the water, actually glad to offer some helpful advice. “Never been told that but I’ll be sure to add it to my resume with you as a reference if I ever need it now.” She joked with the other female. “Well, just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you deserve a bland night. If anything, you should be making it more exciting for yourself where you can before you have a new born baby to look after - even if that starts with taking you off water.”

He was trying to decide to just go home for the night instead because now he was embarrassed, but then she started talking to him again. “I’m fine. Just caught me off guard.” He explained to her. “Plus, not sure my fiance would approve of someone buying my drinks.” Rion said before actually sitting down and ordering a beer for himself. “I appreciate the offer, though.”
Evelyn didn’t comment much until she heard he had a fiance. “Now that makes more sense and both congratulations on your engagement and for being a decent guy, though I feel I should clarify and hope that my offering to buy you a drink didn’t come off as anything more than a kind gesture.” She replied but did genuinely think he seemed like a good guy for thinking of his fiance before accepting. The latter part being more to clarify her intentions from the get go.
leilabarak:
Leila had certainly considered going with a table instead of being tucked up at the front of the bar, but she didn’t want to take up all that much space. Things were busy and at least at the bar she could confine herself to a small space and not get in anyone’s way. Scooting all of her papers a little more inwards, she consolidated and made more room for Evelyn to take a spot. “I was going to, but it’s pretty busy. Don’t want to take any room away from customers that are paying more than I am to drink,” she shrugged. A big group with a table that was there to get drunk would bring in way more money than the few mocktails she’d have throughout the night.
“I don’t really need the space anyway. It’s nice to have, but not vital.” Leila could work just about anywhere. It was more about just finding her ideas and scribbling them down so she could work them out more later. Her workshop had all the space in the world, but sometimes that could be overwhelming. Right now she just needed to focus and the limited space almost helped in a way. A narrower space for a narrow focus. “But oh, it’s nothing…all that interesting. Freelance work for a hotel company that’s trying to get an elevator that runs at a curve instead of just up and down or sideways.” It was possible, Leila just had to make sure that it all would fit within their budget and space constraints.
Evelyn, herself, hadn’t thought much about it that way. Maybe it was the more selfish trait in her when it came to her work that made her not think about the tables bringing in more money being more important but she could commend that thought from the other. “Makes sense. I’m sure the owner appreciates the thought.” She acknowledged.
The brunette hummed when hearing what the other was working on as she paid for their drinks with the bartender, taking a sip of her own whiskey. “It sounds like you have your hands full with elevator work and I personally would have no idea where to start on that. Though, just if you’re interested or ever running short on freelance work, I like to promote local businesses that may get work from some of the landlords and property owners that use the agency where I can. Just if you ever have a business card or anything.” Evelyn suggested.

Carla’s lips curled up further into a smile as she let out a soft chuckle. It was a sentiment she could definitely relate to. Having to deal with idiots on a daily basis was something she was used to. “Oh trust me, I know exactly what that feels like,” she assured the other as the bartender handed her the drink. “Did you trick them into buying it or was it too good of a deal for them to refuse it?”
“Infuriating, isn’t it?” Evelyn commented rhetorically. It wasn’t uncommon for many people to deal with idiots on the daily and given Evelyn’s shortened temper, it was much easier for her to become annoyed with those around her. “Tricked them in to thinking it was too good a deal to refuse so you’d be right with both. It was a younger couple looking for a do up house to be their forever home so it was a case of displaying the low price and recommending ways on how they can picture it being their forever home.”

The Jagged Yard was one of Derek’s favorite places to go. Derek was a regular by all means, finding his usual spot at the bar and ordering himself a beer. He got there before the evening rush, enjoying a glimmer of the happy hour before the discount disappeared for the rest of the evening. Derek had been chatting up a storm with the bartender, sipping on his beer when the bartender was called away. “Another one of these,” he tipped his bottle before putting it to his lips and finishing the rest of it. “thanks Evelyn,” he grinned at her, patting the seat, “what’s got you being generous? Make a good sale?” He raised a brow, “was it that one that looked impossible to sell?”
Evelyn turned her head to check the bartender was setting to sorting their drinks with a smile. At the subtle offer of a seat, the brunette slid on to the stool and put her purse on the bar so she was ready to pay for their drinks. “The very one.” She confirmed. “A lovely couple looking for a ‘do-up house’ to make their forever home or whatever romantic whimsical spiel I spun to make it work.” Eve laughed towards the end of her sentence. “Though, I have to give you some credit. If it wasn’t for your help with the photos, I don’t think I could have even caught their interest to begin with so let’s call all your drinks tonight a bonus.”
mekhelamaes:
Mekhela chuckled softly at the strangers words “Oh trust me I am usually all for a stranger buying me a drink.” She tells her softly with a shake of her head “The problem is that water is about the only thing I am able to partake in as far as their menu goes.” She informs her “Not by choice either, god no I’m not one of those people who have sworn off liquor in an attempt to live longer.” She says shaking her head as she played with the straw in her ice water. “I’m expecting.” She informs the women after a few moments, realizing that she probably didn’t have the slightest clue what she was going on about and was probably under the impression that she was a complete loon. “So again a really nice offer but it’s a bit wasted on me at the moment.” She chuckled lightly.
Evelyn didn’t interrupt and let the other get to the point she was making between the excuses she was giving her. “Oh well, congratulations on expecting.” She made sure to say first. “Though this place does have a good few cocktails. If you wanted something with flavour, why not try a virgin version?” She suggested to try and improve the other’s experience rather than sticking to water for however many more months. “Unless if the taste would trigger morning sickness or whatever.” Eve considered after acknowledging their may be a reason for the other choosing water.
dilanxbarak:
After a disastrous meeting with a bride to be for the following year, a drink was exactly what the brunette needed. She arrived at the bar when it was relatively empty, though that certainly wouldn’t last long when it came to The Jagged Yard. Dilan propped herself up against the bar, her cheek resting against her hand as she waited the bartender to come get her order. A voice caught her attention, an order being placed. Dilan knew she simply should have just asked what she wanted to drink but that was not exactly her style. Her eyes followed the voice to Evelyn, a woman that didn’t seem to take so well to her. “Oh,” her lips parted slowly, nodding her head, “I’ll just have a, uh,” she chewed on her bottom lip, “a margarita, is fine. Thank you,” she smiled at the bartender and then to Evelyn, “and, uh thank you, for being so generous.”
When Evelyn offered to buy the person next to her a drink, she hadn’t actually acknowledged who it was until she heard Dilan’s voice. Even Evelyn could work out that she did treat Dilan a little harsher by keeping her at arms length for reasons Dilan wouldn’t ever know. The light in Dilan always reminded her of her mum and Evelyn was absolutely terrified of that which held her back from actually being entirely nice to the other female. “Well, got to show I can be nice sometimes I guess.” She answered back. The woman checked the bartender was off preparing their drinks and looked back to Dilan. “How are you? You look like you’ve been through the wringer today.” Evelyn judged by how the other had been in a more slumped position when she’d arrived.
carlavillanueva:
Carla had been finding herself at the Jagged Yard way too often these days. Partially because she was bored and needed some form of entertainment in her life, and partially because as the days dragged on she felt like nothing could numb her thoughts better than a few shots. She stood at the bar, sipping her beer slowly as she casually conversed with the bartender. When someone else moved next to her and offered to get her a drink, she looked at the almost empty bottle of beer and nodded. “Uh, sure. Could use another one if you’re offering,” she told the other with a smile. “Well, I must thank you for the generosity. Is it just a special occasion or are you simply that generous by nature?”
Evelyn couldn’t help but chuckle as the other questioned if she was usually this generous. “Oh definitely not this generous usually. I’m normally in a foul mood from dealing with idiots on the daily.” She half-joked. It was well known fact to anyone who knew Evelyn that her mood could change on a dime. “It’s a pretty special occasion. I apparently sold the unsellable so you know, maybe miracles do exist sometimes.” She answered the initial question.
leilabarak:
Leila didn’t spend a lot of time at any of the local bars, but there were rare occasions where she needed a change of scenery while in the middle of her work to make things click. The quiet of her workshop wasn’t working, so she packed up her notebook and headed over to the Jagged Yard for a bit of chaos. It was busy enough to completely shift the energy she was working with, compelling her to focus a bit more on the schematics she was drawing out.
She was pretty lost in thought, not realizing at first that someone was offering to buy her a drink. It wasn’t until the bartender cleared their throat and gestured towards Evelyn that Leila started to blink with the realization that she was being spoken to. “Oh! Sorry - uh,” she mumbled, shaking her head slightly before looking over with a sheepish smile. “Thank you, I uh…I’ll gladly take refill.” She wasn’t drinking anything alcoholic that evening, sticking to water earlier and a virgin cocktail as the night wore on just to sort of look like she was fitting in. “I can uhm. I’ll scoot over if you want to sit down, get some extra room.”
Now that Evelyn had a chance to fully look at the other since addressing her, her eyes didn’t take long to notice the notepad scrawled with notes and drawings. She didn’t bother to make much effort to actually read said notes or actually take in what any of the pictures were depicting but it was intriguing enough why someone would choose a bar to work on whatever it was she was up to. Her attention turned back to the bartender once the order was put in to ensure he’d got everything for them both.
“Oh thank you.” Eve agreed to her offer to scoot up a little. “I’m surprised you’ve not taken a table over the bar. If I was working on something, I would have got a table and made sure I could spread everything out to see it all at once.” She commented, certainly not a means to suggest the other go away but just how she would have handled working on projects. “I am pretty curious what you’re working on though unless it’s top secret.”

To say he was beat would probably be an understatement. From checking on Abi to the rescue and all the other worrying he did, Rion felt like he was running around town like a chicken with his head cut off. All he wanted to do was cuddle Callie in bed, but she was working late and he didn’t want to be home alone. So, the youngest Williams went to the bar and walked up to the counter and was waiting his turn when a woman said she’d pay for his drink. A blush filled his cheeks and he quickly shook his head before putting his hands up. “No, no. I’m good. I can get it myself.” He assured her.
Evelyn didn’t exactly care if she bought the other a drink or not so she certainly wouldn’t argue. “Suit yourself. Just a drink for me and yourself then.” She addressed the bartender and waited for her drink. “Are you okay there, buddy? You’ve gone a little red.” The brunette commented when she noticed his cheeks fill with a light pink colour.
