'No no its not obvious lass!' Merida assured her raising her hands as if calming a wild animal. Though of Charlotte wasn't a horse, it was a reaction to trying to calm animals down- hands up. Quickly she lowered them again. 'Its not obvious. Just I see it is all, no one else does or you would have been havin a lot more of these conversations.' she gave a grin. 'Ye hide it well, but I just pick up on the little things is allâŠ'
Crossing her heart Merida gave a little wink. âI wonât tell lass, I swear. And ye know how loyal I am.â she wanted to cheer Charlotte up. âI understand really, I do.â she gave a sad smile. âno one would treat ye differently Lottie, ye too good for that.â she paused for a moment. âUsed to be like ye I should say⊠not.. connected to that anymore.â
Charlotte gave a small breath of relief at the reassurance. Merida had managed to guess correctly but she could chalk that up to being birds of a feather. The other girl had mentioned being from a wealthy family too. Charlotte offered up a small smile. "I'm sorry. I didn' mean t' ova' react."
"Thank you, Merida, it means a lot." Charlotte smiled, the unease she'd felt moments ago quickly draining away. She knew she could trust Merida to keep this secret. The blonde shook her head slightly. "Maybe not but....I'd ratha' not take th' chance now, y'know?" Â It'd be better if people just thought she was the same as they were. Nothing special. "No?" She cocked her head. "Why not?"
