Hello! I wanted to compile a quick guide on making your roleplay blog on tumblr accessible to all users, including disabled users. Roleplay blogs can be pretty; however, no amount of prettiness excuses inaccessibility!
So here are a few suggestions to help make your tumblr roleplay blog more accessible!
DO:
DO make a pinned post with clear links to your rules, muse information, mun information et cetera.
DO put in your blog description that you are a roleplay blog, and what series, genres, and/or muse(s) you roleplay.
DO make your links easy to find. Consider making them text links instead of symbol links, e.g. the word “Rules” that links to your rules page instead of a uniform circle or symbol. If someone were visiting your blog, could they find the rules in the first 10 seconds of looking for them? 5?
DO choose contrasting colors when you choose a color scheme, e.g. black text on a white background with dark blue links or light gray text on a black background with light pink links. Can you easily see all the links on your blog?
DO make the text of your posts (the body font) at least 12pt.
DO consider selecting an accessible font such as Tahoma, Calibri, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana, or Times New Roman for your posts’ text font.
DO make your posts and pages the centerpiece of your blog. In other words, your posts are your blog, so make sure they take up the space they deserve!

DON’T make navigation or body links difficult to find, either due to making it unclear where they are or due to not clearly marking links with color or underlining.
DON’T bold or italicize unimportant information. When everything is emphasized or unimportant things are emphasized, it is difficult to pick out what is important.
DON’T use more than one or two spaces in-between words.
DON’T use cursive or handwritten fonts. These can be very difficult to read, especially at smaller sizes.
DON’T use Unicode or foreign alphabets instead of plain letters for your replies. Screenreaders cannot parse them. Neither can many of our eyes.
DON’T put essential information in undescribed images or screenshots. Screenreaders cannot parse these and different device resolutions may make the information difficult to read.
Remember, accessibility is not one-size-fits-all. These are general tips and may not apply for everyone; for example, some people find text with multiple spaces is easier to read than text with just one space, and some people have no issue reading text under 12pt.
