The Eighth Wonder and the Permeable Floor, a sequel to The Visible Knees Debacle of 2026 and a birthday present for @tumblerislovetumblerislife, in which Crystal and Niko have fled the country, Edwin tries something new, and Charles suffers the consequences. The heatwaves persist and so does this series, apparently. Extract:

everyone i've talked to about this has been completely unaware so: if you didn't know already, there's going to be a solar eclipse, with totality or coverage of 90% or more in some places, over a lot of europe, on august 12th 2026. in the uk it will start just after 6pm, and the maximum will be at 7:13pm.

get eclipse glasses if you want to look at it. it is not safe to look at through sunglasses. ok informative post over o7

Btw, if you ever wanted an indicator of the ideological censorship that now exists, and how pervasive it has become? The poem I was looking for, with its implication that maybe it might not have been a bad thing to blow up parliament way back when, was published in a children's book two decades ago. Without incident. Now I can't even SEARCH for that poem without receiving a telling off for its contents.

I hope this helps some people the way it helped me.

After giving this same advice about affirmations to a few people in the past few months, I thought I would put this together in comic form.

I actually recorded myself saying my affirmations and I repeat them as I listen on my drive to work. For a while, I got out of the habit of doing it and I realized I was feeling really down on myself. I’ve made it a priority lately and it’s made me feel more upbeat and capable. :)

It took me a long time to figure out how to accept compliments. I’m still not entirely great at it. I always felt like agreeing in any way that I was good would be seen as bragging. And often times, I was right. People would give me shit for not deflecting their compliment. I feel like this is partially an artist thing and partially a woman thing. Sometimes giving a compliment is a power grabbing move. Accepting the compliment means not letting them take that power and they get upset. You have to come to peace with that. Compliments can be a social quagmire, but ultimately, don’t waste too much time on people who make you feel bad about yourself. Easier said than done.

I always felt the tears were real when watching this scene, the same way it was real for the fans. We all love Buffy, regardless of whether she’s real or not.

Ok like. Imagine life without ads. You wake up, check your messages across a variety of apps, no ads. You get up and put on the tv while you prep your breakfast, no ads. Maybe you drive somewhere and switch on the radio, no ads. Maybe you drive a long distance, yet somehow, not a single billboard on your path. You pick up a newspaper or magazine to pass the time, no advertisements only articles. You turn on your game console, the home screen is just about your games, no ads to buy more. You open a streaming app, you don't pay extra for no ads, there's just no ads ever.

Think about how much of your time is spent looking at ads. "Download ublock" yeah I know, I have. But that doesn't change that the world is covered with endless advertising. Imagine never seeing that again. How much better our lives would be.
