Attendance requirements never used to bother me before my brother got sick and they threatened not to graduate him. He had As in all his classes and they were still going to withhold his diploma. My mom fought tooth and nail with the administration and they eventually relented, but yeah. I know they need a mechanism in place to make sure kids actually go to class, but it adversely effects kids with chronic illness

Schools get funding based on attendance. It’s why they care so much. Without us they don’t get their money, so they try to “encourage” us to come in while sick instead of doing the reasonable thing and suggesting we stay home and get better. Our whole system is broken. 🙃
