[ Sitting on his bed, Doc was attempting to do a repair on himself for the first time in… a long time. ]
[ Doc struggles with self repair, or really doing any sort of experiment or dissection on himself. Every time he tries, he just gets flashbacks to the last time he attempted something like that. ]
[ Underneath Doc’s mask is his biggest insecurity, his worst “abnormality”. His mouth is heavily damaged; it’s jagged, cracked, and chipped. A piece of his lower jaw is missing, and he can’t close his mouth normally. It looks incredibly disturbing from a robot’s perspective. To be fair, at the time, Doc DID lack the tools he needed to do a proper job messing with his mouth, and he has them now, but that doesn’t stop him from feeling absolutely terrified of repeating that all over again to another part of his body. ]
[ But tonight, he has to. His shoulders are a little damaged, with slight dents and scratches from another robot. He was pretty sure the robot was Klaus, but he wasn’t positive. He doesn’t know anything about Klaus except for his anger. Doc doesn’t like Klaus. Klaus terrifies him. Wait, no, there’s no time to focus on that at the moment. ]
[ Now, it’s not like his shoulders were causing him unbearable pain or anything. It did ache when he moved his arms around, though, and they were irritated. Plus, having such an exposed part be damaged like this makes it way more susceptible to damage in the future; in all honesty, this repair was more precautionary than anything. He still needed to do it. ]
[ It shouldn’t be that hard. He had gone and removed the outer shoulder plating from a random deactivated red medibot. All he needed to do was unscrew his old shoulder plating and attach the new ones. Just replacing the shell. Incredibly easy, any robot could do that. ]
[ So, Doc begins. Using a screwdriver, he starts unscrewing the several screws places around the perimeter of the shoulder plating. Well, no, he’s only at one, and he’s being very slow. There’s a familiar anxious feeling creeping up his back. He has to keep going. He can’t stop now. ]
[ He continues, unscrewing two more screws. Just a couple more to go. God. His mouth aches. Why does it ache? He hasn’t touched it.]
[ Just a few more screws. Just a few more. His mouth is so sore, right down to each and every crack. Wait, are the cracks spreading? The cracks are growing with every second, spreading across his whole face, the pain burned horribly. His face’s plating was completely shattered. He couldn’t see, he couldn’t move. There was oil everywhere. His face is mutilated. It hurts. It hurts. It HURTS. IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT HURTS IT-]
[ The sound of the screwdriver clanging on the ground brought him back to reality. His vents gasped. He’s fine. His face is fine. There aren’t new cracks forming along it. There’s no oil. He’s fine. ]
[ Doc stood still for a moment, processing. Then, slowly, he reaches down for the screwdriver, and starts screwing everything back into place. ]
