the ragnir the ragnir is real

made this as a prop for my loki cosplay. had to grapple with limited time and the fact that this little bastard has been drawn slightly differently in every in every panel since he appeared. If i made another i would do some things differently BUT i am still very pleased with how he turned out :)

if any enquiring minds want to know i used this pattern as a base

- i broke one of the speakers. less bad news because the other one should also be broken but i miraculously managed to save it. however this is all irrelevant because i also broke the volume slider

i've had this account for 10+ years. i've been posting art there that entire time. a lot of my old posts have been set to private, so that they won't be visible to anyone else but i still have record of them.

but because of how tumblr works, old reblogs of posts from before i made them private can still be seen, and i will still get notes for them.

it's always a treat when someone digs up an old post of mine and starts circulating again. like, basically everything from my thunderbolt fantasy era has been scrubbed from my blog, but in the last few weeks a few of those posts have started getting a few notes here and there. i love that some dumb little comics i made 5-10 ago are still making someone laugh.

it just really sucks to know that i won't be able to see it happen anymore.

i had known that Robot Alchemic Drive had a spiritual successor and predecessor out there and assumed i'd not actually be able to play them ever but. nah they both have full English fan translations.

i've only played the beginnings of both but. they're certainly worth spending more time with.

Remote Control Dandy is RAD's predecessor, on the PS1; you can tell that RAD was directly built off of it. I really really want to play more of it, bc it seems really interesting, but. there are a few roadblocks.

the main problem is that the controls suuuuuuuck. if you thought RAD's controls we unwieldy, imagine, trying to play it without control sticks. there's also very little depth perception and you don't get the jump/hover right from the beginning, so it's hard to get a good vantage point where you can effectively control your robot without constantly smashing into buildings.

the other problem is that you're not supposed to smash into buildings. turns out there's a reason there was no consequences to breaking shit in RAD, it's because it's not very fun when the smash-shit-with-big-robots game punishes you for smashing shit with big robots. you get penalized for every building you damage, and there's a whole reputation system where you have to keep the people in the city from hating you too much.

like i said i've only played the beginning, maybe it's not so bad, but it's exactly the type of mechanic that makes me specifically not want to play. rip. the story does seem interesting, it still has the whole retro anime aesthetic going for it. it's just a bit less accessible than RAD. and without the wild English dub it just doesn't hit the same.

Chou Soujuu Mecha MG on DS is much less RAD-like, but you can still see the DNA of it there. you're still piloting a big robot through a town, but you're no longer playing as the pilot on the ground controlling it remotely. now it's all controlled using the DS's bottom screen.

As a card-carrying DS Enjoyer i find this very interesting, but if you're only interested in a RADlike game this's probably not for you. also if you're going to try and emulate it you'll want to play it on something with a touchscreen, i can't imagine trying to play without one.

So far the story in this one is pretty nothing. but the gameplay is gonna keep me interested much longer than RCD did.

Hello Chanticleer, wanted to ask about your Fire Emblem fankids. Wondered if Kellam had one

He does! The most solid ideas i have after Einar are for Kellam, Lon'qu, and Frederick's kids, but Kellam's kid is actually the only one i have something to show for.

I haven't actually worked on these designs in like. a year or something, so these are all pretty old, and just quick sketches. Her design is still a work in progress.

(I tried like 20 different color schemes and none of them were quite right, rip)

Her name is Paloma, and her starting class is Thief.

She inherited Kellam's lack of presence, and used it to her advantage as a child. She loved to sneak around, play pranks, and make mischief. She often played with the 'Justice Cabal' group, usually making herself the villain.

Her opinions on her sneaking skills changed after her father died. When Kellam died, no one saw; no one knew how he died, and his body was never recovered. He just didn't come home one day. She came to fear that she would die in the same way, alone and unremembered. However, her ability to stay hidden is what let her stay alive in Grima's world, so she had to keep on honing her skills and ended up in the role of a thief.

Now, back in the past-present, she doesn't need to hide. She'll still resentfully make use of her stealth skills on the battlefield, but tends to make a loud, flashy nuisance of herself when it's safe to. Her insecurities about being forgotten tend to manifest in an 'any attention is good attention' mindset that leads to her making trouble and causing friction with other members of Chrom's army.

Paloma was one of the youngest of Lucina's group when they came to the past and landed in the present not long before she was recruited, so she's still very young. I haven't put much thought into what her paralogue would be, though.

i'm still deep in one piece hell but i don't actually know anyone else who's into it. like i wanna talk about this week's chapter but i got nobody. i'm dying over here

and finding one piece fans who aren't Like That is. a tall order

there's a couple episodes of the one piece 4kids dub that are straight up unwatchable because the video files are corrupted on every upload i have been able to find of them

i have only found mention of one other person having this problem and it was from 12 years ago so i must conclude that no one else has ever watched that far in and lived in the years since then

if one were to purchase this definitely real and legitimate product. what would they actually receive. would they have the fucked up episodes. and afaik clean rips of the second half of the series don't even exist, just broadcast recordings from toonami. would they even send you anything at all or just take your money and run.
