Designed by Argodesign and CognitiveScale, Cortex offers a glimpse at the future of accessible AI design tools.
So we offer the intellectual exoskeleton as our closing metaphor, in which we value AI (and Big Data) for what they can contribute, but in the broader context of IA: Intelligence Augmentation.
Big Data Metaphors We Live By
if we buy into impersonal metaphors, they bring with them not only powerful narratives for the product pitch and news media, but lenses which desensitize, or even blinkers that blindside us to the human fingerprints all over Big Data.
Big Data Metaphors We Live By
Big Data Meataphors We Live By
Much of the power of artificial intelligence stems from its very mindlessness. Immune to the vagaries and biases that attend conscious thought, computers can perform their lightning-quick calculations without distraction or fatigue, doubt or emotion. The coldness of their thinking complements the heat of our own.

Smart Reply suggests up to three responses based on the emails you get. For those emails that only need a quick response, it can take care of the thinking and save precious time spent typing. And for those emails that require a bit more thought, it gives you a jump start so you can respond right away.
And much like how Inbox gets better when you report spam, the responses you choose (or don't choose!) help improve future suggestions.
Open an email you want to add to your priority inbox, tap the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner (next to the envelope icon), then choose "Mark important." This will add the email to your Priority Inbox, and Gmail will learn to value this type of message. Therefore, any new email related to this one will also be added to your Priority Inbox.
The Priority Inbox attempts to alleviate such information overload by learning a per-user statistical model of importance, and ranking mail by how likely the user is to act on that mail.
The Learning Behind Priority Inbox
In fact, less than 0.1% of email in the average Gmail inbox is spam, and the amount of wanted mail landing in the spam folder is even lower, at under 0.05%.
