Would you sacrifice yourself to save your Best Friend?
There once was a girl named Leticia, who could see and feel when and how a particular person would die according to an invisible, colored mark on their forehead, in which only she could see. The darker the color of their mark, the sooner the person will die; once back, their death will occur within 24 hours. Once she locked eyes with the person, she could see how the person will die.
Leticia then had two choices to pick from (1) Let it all just happen and not interfere. (2) Help the person avoid their fate, but in return, ten years from her lifespan would be taken away because she cheated with death. Ironically, she is scared of death herself, even though she had been cheating on it all along.
Because of fear, she stopped helping people and just let the feeling of regret and guilt sink in her heart whenever somebody dies right in front of her or with her knowing. She took advantage of this as a teenager and has helped people avoid their deaths until she realized that she only had 10 more years before her death.
One day, she noticed the black mark on the forehead of her best friend, Valeria; the only person who cared for her and the one who always accepted and loved her for who she is.
āOut of all the people in the world, why my best friend?ā she said.
She knew that if she didnāt do anything within 24 hours, her precious friend would die, so she sought to make the day the best day of their friendship. For she helped Valeria avoid death. She and her best friend went to every favorite place; they went where their memories and promises were made.
Somehow, she didnāt feel worried or scared of death at the moment. Probably because it was for someone special, someone whom she loved so much. She would not let that happen.
But when she locked her eyes on Valera, she saw that her best friend would be hit by a car in the road. She looked at her wristwatch. And it was already 9:58, two more minutes. It started to rain, and as they crossed the road. The car that Leticia saw when she locked her eye to Valeria sped up towards her best friend.
Valeria almost flinched, but Leticia grabbed and pulled her in an attempt to prevent her from hitting by a car.
A moment of prepense care to a person she loved but the truth she needed to go for and must be prepared for this challenging occurrence of her life. Thinking to what a rarity and odd eloquence of hers may give unhinged mind.
