My very very dear friend did a life story poem
Thank you Lauren 💙💚💛🧡🩷❤️ with all our hearts
Some love stories arrive with trumpets,
others begin beneath city lights,
where music drifted through Darlinghurst
and hearts found their way to the Stonewall Hotel.
a place where laughter echoed into the early hours,
where generations of lesbians found community,
and sometimes... forever.
with quiet strength and a gentle smile,
spent many afternoons with her nurse friend in Newtown,
never knowing someone was counting the hours
until they could see her again.
She was hopelessly, wonderfully obsessed—
so nervous for one special night
that the drinks arrived faster than courage,
and by the time Kate appeared without her friend,
the world had become a little unsteady.
Love has a funny way of laughing at perfect plans.
through spilled conversations, shared smiles,
and four unforgettable dates,
begins with something that simple.
Life slowly stitched two different souls together.
Different in ways that made people wonder...
yet perfectly compatible in all the ways that mattered.
Together they became something neither could have been alone.
their beautiful grey cat,
keeper of warm laps, sleepy afternoons,
and silent witness to a home built on love.
The years carried them forward,
The nights on Oxford Street became treasured memories.
The Stonewall became more than a place.
Randwick became part of a story.
Sydney became the backdrop
to a love that quietly proved
that soulmates don't have to be the same.
They simply have to choose each other.
still wonderfully compatible,
still writing new chapters
with laughter in their home,
and hearts that found exactly where they belonged.
Some people spend a lifetime searching for their person.
Karen and Kate found theirs.
And somewhere, if you listen closely,
the streets of Darlinghurst still remember
the night a beautiful love story quietly began.
