Taking calm, deep breaths, Conner tried not to cry.
“Hey,” she said softly, turning back around to sit on the corner of his bed. One hand tentatively landed on his shoulder, lightly. “Nothing’s impossible to fix,” because lies make everything better, “so maybe if you tell me what’s wrong I’ll do what I can. Okay?”
