I was out shopping today and I saw someone had one of those spare tire covers on the back of their car with Ducky Momo on it, and that made me happy cause that's from the Thing I like. It kinda stuck with me, and I found it kinda funny. Like here I am, a fully grown adult, in my car at a parking lot, grinning like an idiot over a cartoon duck from a fictional children's television show created for a real children's television show on the back of a car, the owner of which was probably the same as me. I think that's pretty cool.

Some shows take a few episodes to warm up to them, but Phineas and Ferb really comes out swinging from episode one, and I never get tired of watching it. There are so many great jokes. In charge conditionally, you wait till the last day then, man of action, blowtorch and some more peanut butter, yell at some cheese, we should have charged more. Practically every line is a classic. The show developed in a lot of aspects but they really nailed the humor from minute one.

I think what bothers me about the "Doof is Phineas' dad" theory is that it's not very beautiful. Why does it gotta be genetic? Can't Phineas be triangle headed and good at engineering ludicrous contraptions of his own curiosity and effort? Not to mention it also excludes Ferb, does his mom also have to be some engineering genius to justify his hard work? I feel like time is better spent on theories and stories that add to the depth of the show rather than take away from it. Like the Phineas mpreg I'm working on, look forward to it.

Something that's bothered me about the Phineas and Ferb song "Summer (Where Do We Begin?)" is that when the doppelganger Phineas and Ferb ask the question "What's summer?" they answered "the world's best story and it's waiting to be told" to two kids who can't have summer. I mean, be a little considerate, it's not their fault that summer is illegal. Don't you think they want to go eat ice cream cones, and go to the pool, and ride bikes, and do all the other cool things you described? Don't you think that if they had a choice then obviously they'd choose the amazing "worth its weight in gold" summer? And don't you think they deserve a LITTLE more credit for how they've abstained from EVERYTHING fun and interesting during the summer season because of how DANGEROUS it is for themselves and the doppel-people around them???

Ahem.

I first started watching Phineas and Ferb in June of 2020 in the middle of some weird doppelganger event, where I watched episode after episode after episode about how fun and awesome seizing the day and making the most of summer is from the comfort of the four walls surrounding me. But as of today my friends, I am a doppelganger no more. This year will be different. Y'all best get out the way, because this summer belongs to me.

I love the joke model of "Everything should be fine so long as this really super specific thing doesn't happen, especially not in the next scene." One of my favorite examples is in the Phineas and Ferb episode "Journey to the Center of Candace" where Isabella shows Phineas her new Fireside Girls patch sash and the first thing he says is "Wow, that looks totally irreplaceable". That's hilarious, and I'm stealing that for whenever anyone shows me anything.

In Swiss Family Phineas Candace suggests the solution that Phineas comes up with at the end of Summer Belongs to You. Which at first I thought was kinda weird, since that scene was showing that Phineas could persevere and come up with any solution regardless of gloomy circumstance. But then this scene shows Candace (as well as Isabella in the rest of the SBtY scene) is integral in how they do such great things. They aren't lone geniuses or magic workers, and everyone they meet has an important impact on the things they do, and I think that's neat in its own way.

Something I think is interesting about Isabella is how her crush on Phineas doesn't define her. I mean, sure there are a few episodes about it, but most of the time we see her she's just helping out, or hanging around having fun. And I think that's a good example of a healthy way to deal with unrequited (at the time) love. For Isabella romance isn't the end all be all, and it shows you can have a crush on someone that goes nowhere and still be part of the band or rodeo or giant game of foosball. Sometimes you stay friends, but at least you've still got a friend.
