ServiceDesk Plus Jira Integration: How to Set Up a Real-time Sync

Struggling to keep ServiceDesk Plus and Jira in sync? With real-time, bidirectional integration, you can ensure issues flow smoothly between both systems.

Advanced Jira Azure DevOps Integration Using Exalate’s AI Assist

In this video, we’ll explore three advanced Jira-Azure DevOps integration use cases powered by Exalate’s AI Assist.

AI Assist enhances Exalate’s Script Mode, helping you generate sync scripts faster and more efficiently.

Getting Started

To use AI Assist, first install Exalate on both Jira and Azure DevOps. Then, establish a connection between the two platforms.

Once connected, configure your sync rules and triggers. Since Exalate follows a decentralized setup, you can define sync rules and triggers independently on both Jira and Azure DevOps.

To set this up, edit the connection settings.

In this video, we create a trigger that syncs any newly created Task in the Mathieu project on Azure DevOps to Jira automatically.

Under the Rules tab, you can modify sync rules:

Outgoing sync (Azure DevOps) controls what data is sent to Jira.

Incoming sync (Jira) defines what data is received from Azure DevOps.

The same applies in reverse for Jira.

The Replica is the payload carrying data between both platforms.

Use Case 1: Map Priority from Azure DevOps to a Custom Field in Jira Cloud

📌 Goal: Convert priority values from Azure DevOps into a dropdown field in Jira Cloud.

Ensure priority is included in Azure DevOps’ Outgoing sync.

In Jira’s Incoming sync, map the priority values as follows:

Priority 1 → Jira custom field = A

Priority 2 → Jira custom field = B

Priority 3 → Jira custom field = C

Use Case 2: Map Iteration Path from Azure DevOps to Jira Cloud

📌 Goal: Sync iteration paths from Azure DevOps to a custom Jira Cloud field.

Ensure Azure DevOps sends iteration path details in its Outgoing sync.

In Jira’s Incoming sync, map the iteration path using replica.iterationPath to a custom field in Jira named text_customfield.

Use Case 3: Sync Jira Status to Azure DevOps & Add a Comment

📌 Goal: When a Jira issue is marked Done, update Azure DevOps with a comment and status change.

Ensure Jira status is included in the Outgoing sync.

When a Jira issue is moved to Done, add a comment in Azure DevOps under workItem."Microsoft.VSTS.TCM.ReproSteps":

Change the Azure DevOps work item status to Accepted.

"Ticket resolved in Jira + <Jira Ticket Key>"
