My personal answer: The value in philosophy is that it's indubitably hard to mislead someone that doesn't even believe the world itself. People who philosophize are increasingly likely to follow their own lead above anyone else's. This makes them ungovernable. This is an immensely valuable trait because it makes one less susceptible to dictatorship and peer pressure. Its value lies in the fact that by questioning the information you're given, you withhold your own power to determine if something is true, moral, and/or real.
