Growing up in a strict family, Cedric had never been allowed to have a pet, even less a dog since his mother considered them filthy and a distraction to her child. So naturally, the demigod grew highly curious about them, always finding them fascinating, no matter the breed. With such natural adoration, it was easy for Cedric to admire Yoongi right at that second as Cedric could only imagine the amount of resilience and patience it took to train Storm, or at least, K9 units in general. Yoongi’s response to the lack of staff made Cedric chuckle shortly as it was indeed an inconvenience that neither of them could reach for a solution.
“Sweet! That’ll come in handy.” His excitement towards the reveal of the facilities was evident and Cedric’s eyes would travel around, trying to get a mental note of the general direction Yoongi seemed to refer to. “I know we barely know each other but, congratulations!” Despite minor envy, Cedric’s words were honest and gentle, with him feeling happy for his co-worker for having something Cedric only dreamed to have one day, a dog and a partner. “Agreed, perhaps I should visit it before handling a case but everything to its own time.”
The sudden tension on Yoongi’s posture did not pass by unnoticed and the sharp reveal made Cedric’s jaw drops, just enough to let his mouth open from an unpleasant surprise. Despite the bitter description of past happenings, Cedric appreciated Yoongi’s straightforwardness and Cedric’s mind stretched to remember his notes when he’d studied the many gods that exist. Set, ability to manipulate people’s minds.
“I am sorry to hear that and to hear the situation got to that point in the end.” His voice was calm, averting his eyes from Yoongi’s for a second as his mind started to think on the repercussions on the victims. “I hope the people who suffered from his hands have found some solace and peace now.” He had to admit the curiosity growing inside of him about the hand on the trigger that ended that horrible situation was larger than he wished. However we wouldn’t dare to ask, as it was not proper nor relevant to present times.
Yoongi tried not to snort at Cedric’s enthusiastic reaction to the station’s amenities. It was no surprise at all that someone like him would be happy to have a gym around. “Oh, thanks. I’m sure you’ll meet him at some point soon - he likes to stop by to bring me lunch and gossip with my coworkers about me when he thinks I’m not listening,” he replied, just a hint of warmth and fondness to his voice. He didn’t exactly love Taemin’s penchant for gossip, but he couldn’t speak negatively about his husband if he tried.
He nodded, expression rather grave. At least Cedric’s reaction had passed the litmus test. “Yeah, it was an unfortunate situation. He was so good at manipulating people, there was no way we could have just arrested him - even Osiris was worried he would find a way to get out of it. We had to make sure he never suspected we were even on to him.” Sometimes he thought about what might have happened if Jordan had caught on. Considering all he had done, making a sniper turn their gun on themselves didn’t seem like an impossibility. The entire thing had been risky as hell, in hindsight.
“Anyway, what’s done is done,” he continued, giving a half-shrug and continuing on to show Cedric around the second floor. No need to dwell on all that nastiness. “What was it you did before this, again?” He remembered from the file, of course, but he wanted to hear it from Cedric himself. It was a lot easier to lie on paper, after all.
