Hey, guys, I don't necessarily like ignoring some anon asks but sometimes ppl send me weird or awkward ones that I don't feel like answering while others would only get a simple one-word response so I don't wanna bother. i was debating with someone about whether kubo was a worse or kishimoto when it comes to writing women and I'm sorry but to me it's kishi. Kub0 managed to give at least one well written female character with depth, relatability, competence, narrative importance AND a passable conclusion. Regardless of who Rukia should've ended up with (and I do ship IR) at least she still achieved what she wanted to, isn't ooc by the end of the show and not treated like shit by the narrative. Kishimoto has none :(. What do you think?
Well, while I do agree Rukia is far better written than the female characters in Naruto, I don't think she got away completely unscathed by the end. Despite being the deuteragonist, she was sidelined for most of the final arc, had zero importance past her bankai reveal, Urahara's cryptic words of leaving everything to ONLY Ichigo & Rukia amounted to nothing (and the anime already retconned the line by adding "everyone", further reducing its meaning 😒), & she did feel a bit OOC in the final chapter like everyone else, like acting dismissive of her child's whereabouts.
Also, Rukia marrying Renji for any reason other than to defeat Ywach by choosing unhappiness makes zero sense 🤷♀️...

idk if I'm the only one who feels this way but I read your post critiquing gege akutami's writing and thought, they're not very flawed either. I love, love, LOVE Nobara and Maki but I feel like they didn't get even close to the same complexity/development (in nobaras case) as male characters like gojo, yuta or even toji. Yuki is the one who interested me the most but ofc he had to go ahead and kill her off. Same with Utahime and Shoko(I've yapped about hime often but can we also acknowledge that he tried to minimise shokos relationship with gojo by describing him as just her classmate and not like..one of his best friends??) Not to mention he completely wasted Mei Mei by making her a br0con and a groomer like WHAT WAS THE REASON 😭😭😭 She had an amazing design, competent CT, was clearly quite intelligent and could've been an interesting figure as a selfish, independent and morally corrupt woman who doesn't really care about anyone in a world that's seemingly so much about sacrificing and protecting. It would have been so interesting to see WHY she was the way she was. And heck even her relationship with her kid brother isn't treated as a serious thing that she's held accountable for.

Hmm, can't disagree. The female characters in general did not receive the same amount of care as the main male characters. Then again, a lot of the male characters got done pretty dirty too, especially Megumi; oh, man, the Potential Man™ memes are not wrong... 😬 Feel bad for his fans... Gege was simply not a very good writer.

Gege came up with a chart showing gojos relationships with the other characters and I hate it SO MUCH. It literally describes what was already there in canon and so infuriating it's not even funny.
Also in Utahime's arrow towards gojo it shows hates 😞 Not even saying as a gjhm shipper but man, I think it's more of an insult to Utahime than to the ship. They both have similar values at the end of the day.

However, at least more ppl can see the word has always been "kirai", which isn't pure unadulterated hate, but a strong dislike, like a kid saying they hate vegetables. Gojo was always pushing Utahime's buttons, after all 😂. The thing is, we don't know Gojo's feelings towards her in that chart... 🫢

This is a bit of a weird rant but I hate it when yaoi shippers compare their ship to a fan favourite well written straight ship. Mostly because straight and queer ships often have extremely different subtexts. Like that one blog who said anidala is like satosugu: If it were, the ship would like..actually suck. The way they swear up and down that if their ship was het we wouldn't hate it.. personally I'd hate the ship MORE lmao. If anakin and padme were coworker besties turned lovers who understood each other soo much uwu because they were both OP jedi and anakin turning to dark side because he of the power of racism and jealousy instead of wanting to save padme.. yeah I'd not like them. Same applies to sasunaru and other popular yaoi ships. Like I don't even mind BL that much but like.. leave straight ships alone. Yeah they could deff work as yaoi/yuri but they're not and it's annoying when people do this and it's why despite liking some of those ships I have to block their tags.
It's weird when they say a M/F ship would be better as BL because they're basically saying the ship would be better without the woman in the equation... Like...?? 😬 It's mainly women saying this too... And when it comes down to it, it's always the female character getting all the hate or ignored...
I've seen it done to IchiRuki as well. They're supposed to be a great example of how a M/F ship in a battle shounen should or could be like... why compare it to BL ships that would never happen in this genre?
A lot of these BL ships would be different if they were actually canon, or if they were straight. Dynamics, story, etc... There's no telling if ppl would like them more or not. It really depends. Then again, fujos seem to care more for their ships in genres not catered to them than actual BL...
Agree on the Anidala part, lol. Heck, there's ppl who ship Anakin with Obi-Wan, but how is that more interesting? 😬 Like they'd just be reheating Anidala's nachos, who already have the whole "power couple, forbidden romance" thing going on.

Well, I was implying IshiHime in my fic. I had ideas for more fics to expand that universe, such as multi-chapter fics of some of my fav ships (that I still think about sometimes & some drafts are just sitting in my PC files 😭), but I just never got around to finishing them... writer's block is my enemy 🥲. One of those fic ideas was an UH multi-chapter AU, in which the only differences would've been no implied IshiHime & that Ulquiorra was gonna come back somehow (whether thru Mayuri's doing, Urahara's, or some other way). The timeline would've started a few weeks or months after the events in the second chapter of my fic.

Do you also think orihime should be a fighter? I like her fine as a healer, it's just that like the anon said, kubo was hellbent on making her morally pure. She could be someone who can't handle the battlefield bc she's idk.. physically weak but by the end of the series be an excellent healer and also someone who is able to and will put her foot down when the need arises.
Yup, what she needed was simply character development, as she lacked the resolve to be a reliable healer and despite having some combat abilities (her combat fairy and she apparently knew martial arts?!), she never trained nor attempted to use them again after the SS arc 😮💨. There were others better than her in her field (Hachi and Unohana)...
