10 things I learned my first year at college
1.) Don't look for love. If the time is right, you'll know it. If you try to make someone fall in love with you, chances are it isn't true love.
2.) Be nice to everyone you meet. And I mean everyone. You never know who may pop up in your second semester 930 psych class. It's easier to study with a study buddy. Being snotty will get you nowhere, except a few dirty looks while walking on campus.
3.) Keeping old friendships is especially hard while away at school. Work at it though because it'll be worth it in the long run. Send your best friend a letter, text your old friend just to see how she's doing.
4.) No one cares how drunk or high you got. Chances are, they were just as drunk or high.
5.) One of the first things you should work on is how to be happy by yourself because when that boy leaves you crying in the rain at 4 am you only have you.
6.) Even best friends will stab you in the back. Don't try to get even, just be glad it happened when it did so that you can take the proper steps to ensure it does not happen in the future.
7.) The people on your floor will not necessarily be your best friends. I'm not saying they won't, but don't assume you have to be friends with who you live near.
8.) Feel free to test out different groups. Go to the hockey party, go to the psychology club, get dinner with a friend from your math class who you've never spoken to, she might just become your best friend. Hangout with different people and don't close yourself off to anyone.
9.) Don't get into fights at bars... lol you'll get kicked out.
10.) When you think you're falling in love with your drug dealer, you're not. You're falling in love with the adrenaline that comes from the trap lifestyle. Do not let yourself think that the cute druggie that lives a few streets off campus is your true love. The Xanax and weed are the only good things he has to offer.
bonus ;) 11.) Don't be petty.

Let’s go on an adventure. Early morning sunrises with one hand gripping the steering wheel and the other your hand; the grogginess of sleep unable to suppress the kisses we share. My raspy voice horribly masking the sweet sound of yours as we sing to our songs. We’d stop at some shitty diner that serves shitty food and has shitty service but that doesn’t matter because we’d have not-so-shitty conversations while sipping bitter coffee and sharing sweet smiles. Hot sunny afternoons, while you drag me along a dirt path in a field bustling with roses, daffodils, chrysanthemums, and lilacs while I pick out the most beautiful and tuck it behind your ear; decorating you like the beautiful art you really are. You’d shyly look away, afraid of your insecurities, while I’d lovingly stare at the most beautiful flower in the field of blossoms. Past rivers and forests to places only we know. Where our laughter and teasing are lost in miles of wilderness. We’d strip down to take a dip in the clear blue waters, splashing and kissing our way through the afternoon. The waning sunset displaying your dark brown eyes into a galaxy of mahogany pulling me into soft passionate tongue filled exchanges. Then, when the stars come out, we drift off into each other’s minds in the trunk of my car. The chilly air unable to penetrate the layers of blankets and heat we create. You’d tell me why you’re afraid of commitment while I soak in every word you say like its my religion. My hands softly caressing your body; just craving the physical connection. I’d get drunk off your words, allowing me to fall deeper and deeper for you. For the way your lips curve. For the way your eyes crinkle. For the way you look at me. Id whisper everything I ever loved about you softly because you are my little secret. You see, I crave you. My whole body craves you. From every organ, tissue, and cell. This isn’t biology. This is love but I feel it biologically. To the heart that flutters when you look at me, to the hands that desperately grasp at something besides a dream. So let’s go on an adventure. Just you and I. We never even have to look back.
