Residency Open call 2019
Baltic Analog Lab is announcing an artist in residence programme for 2019 for filmmakers, artists and researchers working in the field of analog film, photography or sound mediums.
We welcome international artists to stay for 1-2 months to do their individual work using our space as a platform for work production as well as education.
What we offer
- living room in the centre of a city in a shared appartment. You will be living with 3 more people one of which is founder of the lab.
- access to our lab – darkroom, working space, screening space, steenbeck, projectors, cameras etc
- we offer a public event for you in our space – it can be a film screening, talk, workshop or other event organised by us and the resident
- participation in our workshops occuring at the time of your stay
Duration of a residency
- 1-2 months
Who can apply
- filmmakers, artists, musicians with a sufficient experience working with analog medium
- researchers working in a field of experimental cinema and moving image
Costs
Since the programme is not funded, we require 200 EUR per month from the resident which covers the rental of the room and usage of our space.
Our requirements
- resident should be independent and organise his/her own time independently during their stay
- at least one public event at our space with the resident – a workshop, film screening, talk etc
- we also encourage the resident to engage with members and friends of our collective

Timing and deadlines
- First round for April-May. Deadline for applications: 10th March
- Second round for June-July. Deadline for applications: 10th May
- Third round for Septemer-October. Deadline for applications: 10th August
- Fourth round for November-December. Deadline for applications: 10th October
NB! We encourage you to apply sooner than 10th date of a month since we might be giving the place away to the first one who aply.
Acommodation and hosting
You will be living in a shared appartment with three permanent residents one of which is founder of the lab. There is a WI-FI, two showers and kitchen for common use. You will have your own room with sofa, desk and window view facing one of the historic streets of Riga. The appartment is 15-20 min walk to the lab.
We will guide you through the cities cultural and historical life and there will be always someone answering your questions and supporting you in your needs.
