Some of you know this already but we had a personal tragedy here at eXplore Brown County last year, Shadow passed away. In honor of him, we wanted to post this open letter: Dear Shadow, First off, let me just say thank you. You've been here since the beginning, our unofficial mascot. You graciously shared that title with Barney when he came 7 years ago. When we started you were everywhere encouraging our guests to have a good time. You would run beside the trucks as we drove our guests to their zip line tour and ran underneath them as they zipped through the trees. You would trail behind the ATV tours as they made their way through the woods. I've even heard stories of you leading lost mountain bikers back to base camp. None of us get to stay young forever however. As you grew older, we saw you less and less on the activities side. Occasionally you would ride up with our zip line tours but you graciously began to spend more time with our campers. Making your rounds from campsite to campsite and cabin to cabin you would spend time with our guests enhancing their stay with us. I hope you knew how much you meant to us, both the staff (including Barney) and the thousands of guests that we've had. You were one of the chillest, most well-behaved dogs that I ever knew. I think you taught Barney well and he'll do a great job. You were the first though, and we will never forget that. Rest easy... We know when people think of being outside in winter you think of skiing, sledding, snowboarding, etc. Did you ever think of paintball? You're already wearing plenty of layers to stay warm which gives you padding for when you get shot. You can make up your own winter scenario games. And it gives you an excuse to break out that winter camoflauge outfit you've been dying to wear.
