Who's that annoying snob guy at the back?
Just a little background about me. I was a psych major who had lots of friends and looked so fresh with a bit of child-like features and gestures. I was at the peak of my feminine energy trying to attract someone in college and hopefully experience my first true love and all other kinds of love.
Going back to my college experience, I wanted to share with you my ex-fling from high school who also happened to enroll in the same college as me. We seldom cross paths and even hang out with our high school mutual friends. I knew he had a strong feeling towards me but I guess I left mine in high school.
Anyways, every day was a busy and meaningful day for a freshie like me. The burning passion was there and there's no better time to explore things than in college. I tried hanging out more with new people, joining organizations, and diligently attend to any college functions.
For that semester, I did everything to enjoy and learn things. Before it ended, I mentally listed down all of the things that I wanted to improve for the next semester. One of which was to prepare for my pre-enlisted subjects, specifically, my P.E. class. I would not say it was the worst until it's the end of the year which is also the end of the semester.
Only then, things got spicy when we are nearing our culmination day for the P.E. ballroom class. We had to perform all the dances we learned throughout the sem. That was only the period when I actually paid attention to my classmates. That brought my attention back to that mysterious guy who always sit at the back and acted like he did not exist. He obviously hated this subject more than anyone of us there.
While preparing for our culmination, I just realized that this class only had 6 biological males enrolled. When we decided who should be paired for each of the dances. We decided to let the guys do almost all the dances with different female dance partners. I can't imagine their pain for this but for the sake of the grade and for the sake of ending things as soon as possible, they just went through the plan.
I personally chose to perform the Jive (which was arranged to be an "all-girls" introduction performance). I was saved from the awful pairing for the intimate dances such as Rumba, Salsa, etc. The introductory dance was the first to get settled on the program so I just chilled in the corner and let everyone decide for the rest of the dances. I was scrolling on my tablet when I heard my name and I looked up to the person leading the meeting in front. I was disoriented at first at the same time panicked. I was called in to perform for Cha Cha Cha with someone who suggested I be paired with him. I panicked really hard because I did not want to invest more into the culmination with more than one dance to perform. I just calmly said that I was already signed up for the Jive. Whoever asked to be paired with me might not know that. I sat back again and scrolled on my tablet. Not later than that, I was called in again. This time my name was scribbled on the board. I, again, reiterated that I am already in the Jive dance with a little annoyance in my voice. I guess that was obvious to some of my classmates and the presiding person pointed out someone at the back. I looked at the person he was referring to, and that was the MYSTERIOUS GUY. He wanted to be paired with me "again" for Salsa. So! He was the one from a while ago and now he wanted me as his partner again? Are we that close? He was getting on my nerves that day. Guess what? People were starting to tease us because it seemed like he really wanted me to be paired with him. I just let it slide the second time as I expected he now understood that I am already in the other dance. The last part of the meeting turned hilarious when the last dance was decided and AGAIN, he mentioned me again. This time, he talked loudly for the class to hear and said "Maybe this time, I can pair with A**?" Everybody, EVERYBODY went wild after he said that. I knew after this, people would tease us nonstop until they got something else to do.
I just thought that day, how come this guy even knew my name when I felt he did not even attend a single P.E. class. I asked my friend about it and she said he was never absent and that he stayed in the same seat throughout the sem. I now pictured him as the annoying snob guy at the back.
