Guess what, I got my eyebrows tattooed. They look super intense and kind of crazy. š©I really hope they lighten up and look more natural as they heal. Read more on eyefancythis.com š
Wow, sorry for lack of updates. Here are my eyes with makeup. Already been 4 years since my surgery! In other news, I'll be having my eyebrow mole removed soon.
Hi! I've been looking at your blog constantly since I got my surgery and I have really think and hard scarring around my crease and its affecting the even-ness of my crease and lid! I'm 17 and its been a month. However my recovery is really quick and my eyes basically not swollen anymore! Should I be worried about the scarring and redness?
Hi!
Glad to hear you had a fast and easy recovery! If youāre concerned about the scarring you should definitely ask to see your doctor for a follow-up. Since itās only been a month, he might be able to give you some treatments (usually steroid treatments) for the scarring. I never addressed my scars to my doctor, and I wish I had. So if you are really worried about them, then definitely ask your doctor. The earlier you voice your concerns the better.
Also, the scar lines can look really heavy early in the recovery, and gradually disappear. But if you are worried about them affecting the crease, then definitely see your doctor.
I hope this helps. Thanks for reading my blog! :) And happy recovery!

Sorry I have been MIA!
Hi! Iām sorry I have been away for soooo long!
Iām almost at my 3-year anniversary for my double-eyelid surgery. As some of you may know, I have been contemplating a revision for the asymmetry and overall unnatural look of my creases, but Iām still not feeling 100% about going forward with it.
A lot of you always ask me when the best time to go for the surgery is...and Iāll always say itās when you feel ready to be able to accept any outcome.Ā
For now, Iām still okay with how my eyes are looking (I will post a pic when I get home from work!), and Iād be really bummed if the revision didnāt turn out awesome.
I hope those of you that have had the surgery have healed beautifully and are enjoying your new, brighter, eyes!

Thank you for making this blog!!!! I had the suture method done last year.. the doctor strongly recommended against more invasive procedures involving cutting and removing skin/fat. I was disappointed but I (wrongly) trusted the doctor. It's been about 10 months since my surgery and the crease has ended up being MUCH lower than I wanted! I think the sutures have almost failed on one eyelid and I'm so stressed and sad! Do I get the sutures removed? Start over? What do you recommend?
HI!
Don't be stressed and don't be sad! Your doctor may (or may not) have had a good reason to perform the surgery the way he did. You can try to schedule a follow-up with him and ask some questions, eg, Why did he recommend against removing skin/fat? What is the advantage of the suture method? Why does the crease look like it's failing on one eyelid, and most importantly, what can or will he do about it?
Most surgeons are really good about offering revisions. The hard part is that you need to make a decision about whether to trust the same surgeon again, and do you want to go through another procedure and recovery period? And what if the results aren't what you expected again? Those are the questions I've been dealing with for the past couple of years myself!
I wish I could be of more help, but if you are truly sad and unhappy with your eyes, then the only recommendation I can make is for you to see your surgeon and see what he says. You'll know in your gut whether to trust him again for a revision, or whether you should consult a different doctor.Ā
Also, I know we are our toughest critics. You may think your crease is too low, but others probably think it looks natural and beautiful!
Good luck with everything!!!
Hey! Great blog, it's very informative. I was just wondering how you wore makeup your third week? When you removed the eyeliner wasn't it painful? I wore some mascara the other day (it's been 3 weeks my surgery) and I had a very difficult time taking it off. Thanks!
Hi!
Thanks for your question. I'm pretty sure I didn't wear eyeliner around the third week. My scar line was still very sensitive around that time. I wore very "basic" eye makeup, just to get some contrast and to not look tired or weird at work.
Instead, I used a smoky eyeshadow under the crease to create the depth and enlarged-eye effect that I try to get with eyeliner, and a lighter eyeshadow on the higher part of my eyelid. My eyes were still pretty swollen at 3 weeks, so I couldn't do much.
I don't remember if I used mascara. It all depends on how fast your scar line is healing. I used a good-quality/effective eye makeup remover (eg, Lancome)Ā with a cotton ball, and gently patted/blotted and wiped away the makeup. Just make sure you don't irritate the scar too much as it's healing, and of course if it's painful...you might consider refraining from wearing makeup for a little longer.
It sounds like you're healing beautifully though! Yay! Thank you so much for visiting my blog!

Hi! So I'm an 18 year old girl in her first year of college. I've been thinking of getting the surgery but I'm still having doubts because of my age. I'm very certain that I want to do this surgery and I'm sure that I can use time during winter/spring break to recover and heal. Do you feel like I'm still too young to undergo eyelid surgery, since my body might still be growing and changing? Thanks!
Hi there,
Thanks for your question. I don't think there is a "right" answer for your question. I have seen really young (like elementary school) girls get the surgery, and I have also seen grandmas get it. I personally think 18 is a good age...your eyelid anatomy has probably already developed. Any changes in your eyes would just be from normal aging. Our eyes change all the time, with or without surgery.
I think the best time to get it is when you really want it. I have been wanting double eyelids since I was 10. I used tape and glue, but I never wanted to get the surgery. I don't know why...maybe fear of the results not being perfect, or maybe I was too concerned with not being "fake." It wasn't until I was in my 30s when my mindset was in the right place where I could feel responsible for my decision to have plastic surgery. I got to the point where I wanted to improve my looks to feel better about myself, and with that I had to accept the risks (for complications and bad results), costs (it can be expensive), and what other people would think. Once you are in a good place with all of those considerations and you support your own decision...then that is the right time!
Good luck with everything! Thanks for visiting my blog!
hi! does the consultation and operation happen in the same day? like you have the consultation, then you go straight to the operating room right after that? thank you!
Hi!
Typically the consultation happens, and then you schedule a surgery date. My surgery date was more than two weeks later. But that all depends on your doctor's availability.Ā
Also, at the time of the consultation and scheduling, I was required to pay a deposit for the procedure.Ā
Thanks for your question!
I'm so glad I found your blog! Thank you for making it, I just went through so many questions you answered and it was really helpful :) My question is, how much time did you spend talking with the doctor about what you want your eyelids to look like? Also, I have a very specific shape that I want, so is it possible for the surgeon to create basically any shape? I want my eyelids to be bigger on the outer ends of my eyes if that makes sense. Thank you so much! You look so pretty by the way!
Hi there,
Thanks for your nice comments and questions!
I literally spent probably 3 MINUTES talking to my surgeon about my crease height, and we didn't really talk about shape at all. During my consultation, I didn't ask enough questions and I trusted the doctor and let him do whatever he thought was right. I now know that was a mistake, and I always encourage anyone going in for a consultation to ask tons of questions and let them know exactly what you want!
After telling the surgeon what you want...he may give you reasons about why he doesn't recommend a certain crease height or the shape that you want...it might depend on the amount of fat in your eyelids, amount of ptosis, or he might not know what's possible until surgery time when he can actually see your muscle anatomy. It could also just be his personal opinion...like he might think a specific shape looks unnatural. You'll have to hear what he has to say and then make a decision about whether to move forward or seek a consultation from a different doctor.
I wish eyelid surgery was as easy as flipping through a catalog of eyes and saying, "give me those" but I've discovered it's so much more complicated and everyone's eyes are different.
Make sure you feel comfortable with your surgeon, and that you both have the same vision and understanding of your future eyes. I would definitely take the time to tell him and SHOW him the shape that you want.
Good luck with everything!

Hi everyone!
I'm so sorry for being MIA with my updates.
Here are my eyes at 2 years and 3 months. It is late at night...and I had a few cocktails tonight...so my eyes looks tired and weird.
So yes, they are asymmetric. It really only bothers me when I'm not wearing makeup, With eyeshadow and liner, it's so easy to cover up the flaws, and my eyes generally look pretty fabulous. But after washing my face before bed...not so flattering!
I have been communicating with my surgeon. I just haven't been able to plan the revision because of my work schedule.
A part of me is a little nervous too, but I am pretty sure I want to do it.
Thank you all for reading!Ā
omg I'm so glad I found your blog!! I had my eyelids done the first time and they turned out great but I wanted them a bit higher and deeper. BIG MISTAKE! The crease is wayy too high this time and it looks nothing like the pictures I showed my surgeon. it's been a little over two months and my healing process this time has been so slow. my eyes still look like sausages:( I'm worried that they're gonna remain swollen looking forever. is it possible to lower the eyelids?? Esp in the inner corners?
Hi there!
Thanks for your message!
The healing process can be sooooo slow. Mine was the slowest ever. The good news for you is that if you're still in the sausage phase...the swelling will definitely go down and your creases will lower for sure. At two months my eyes were still very swollen and at 3 months the creases were still very high (I loved it), and they became lower and lower, so I'm thinking yours will lower as the swelling goes down.
You might have had more swelling and longer healing time this time around compared to your first procedure because the surgeon had to manipulate a different part of the eye muscle. I'm no expert, but I think that's the general idea.Ā
i'm not sure about the inner corners. I would say wait it out since 2 months is too soon.Ā
If they are looking symmetrical, are not infected, and the scar line is healing nicely...it sounds like you had another successful procedure! Ā Congrats! It's impossible to get perfect eyes, but I'm sure once your swelling goes down, you will have a higher crease, and hopefully that is what you were hoping for! Just keep in mind that they will NOT look like sausages forever!
The healing process can be stressful and depressing, but the time will go by fast and your eyes will change fast. I'm happy you had another safe procedure. I hope your swelling goes down fast! (It will!)
Thanks for visiting my blog!
I am having surgery in a month. Incision technique. Thank you so much for sharing you experience. A few questions for you: 1. What dud you do during recovery time? How dud you pass the time? 2. Was there anything you wished you had known before surgery that you know now? Thank you!
Hi there!
Congrats on scheduling your surgery! Very exciting!Ā
Recovery time can vary...mine was very long. My eyelids stayed swollen and sensitive for over a month. I'm sure yours will be shorter. All I did to pass the time for the first week was: NOTHING! I literally stayed on the couch and watched TV and looked at my eyelids every 5 minutes with a handheld mirror.
The second week I was able to leave the house without looking like a freak, but I was still very self-conscious because my eyelids were so swollen I looked like a lizard.
I went back to work the third week. Still swollen, but I don't see too many coworkers so it was fine.
The best advice I can give you is ICE IMMEDIATELY after the procedure and KEEP ICING ALL NIGHT to prevent swelling. Do not put on sunglasses and go eat salty noodles right after your surgery (like I did) haha. Ice them on the way home in the car. When you get home, ice them. Ā When you sleep, wake up and ice them, then go back to sleep. You must do this for at least the first night!Ā
Chances are your swelling won't be as bad as mine (I've only seen one or two others who had swelling as bad or worse than mine).
Chances are your eyes WILL be beautiful and you will be very happy you had the surgery!
Good luck, gorgeous! Have a safe surgery and fast, happy healing!
Thank you so much for posting your experience on your blog! It takes a lot of courage to share your surgery experience to the world but you've helped me understand the healing process a lot more. I got mine done almost a year ago and I'm really pleased with my results. I had a tough recovery experience but your blog helped me through it all. Thanks again!!
Hi!
Thank you for your message! I'm so glad to hear that you are pleased with your results! It makes me very happy to hear that my blog has been helpful.Ā
Cheers to you and your beautiful eyes!
I'm wearing eyeliner and mascara. I'll try to post a pic after I wash my face.
Also, I'm using the camera on my Macbook Air. In the past I used the camera on my iPhone. Sizing and zooming might be off.Ā
Try not to look at my eyebrows. :/
