Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he sees fingers twitch, and between one blink and the next, the corpse becomes familiarーnot the red and gold knight from his dreams, not the disembodied voice of a hypothetical person, but the face from the missing poster on the coffee shop tv. The face that’s been burned into Avery’s memory for days now.
