The King in Yellow is staring at him. Mismatched eyes unblinking, the left eye glowing.

Mouth twisted into a smile that would have been handsome if it was Derek smiling.

I FUCKING DELETED THE 5TH PAGE AND PROCREATE CRASHED BEFORE I COULD GET IT BACK so I literally had to screenshot the Timelapse video to retrieve it, only problem is that it’s grainy as hell so please excuse that. This is my first time doing a comic of this scale and it was honestly such a blast, although working with all the different layers and colouring and stuff like that was tedious, but the next time I do it will definitely be more streamlined.

I’m toying around with a fic that follows this premise bc I’m delusional and Derek totally survived getting knowledge blasted, right? I wanted to explore that might have happened if he survived, I think it would have taken him a while to reveal himself to Avery, maybe so as to not overwhelm him? I’m assuming the guy would be mourning for a while lol. Anyways stay tuned, part two will drop sometime within the next 8 years.

For a moment, Avery thinks he’s looking at a corpse. Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he sees fingers twitch, and between one blink and the next, the corpse becomes familiarーnot the red and gold knight from his dreams, not the disembodied voice of a hypothetical person, but the face from the missing poster on the coffee shop tv. The face that’s been burned into Avery’s memory for days now.
