Ovi coming back from another year is actually super impressive considering that man is now 84 years old.
Fuck we got Nick Paul too? I hate that guy.
BOBROVSKY?!?!?!
The Florida Panthers out here collecting assholes like Infinity Stones.
They have Gudas now, too?
Are they doing this to be funny?
I knew he was up for resigning and with the season he had and post season he'd be wanting more money likely and they've got like 5m of cap space, plus they lost two picks courtesy of Torts not speaking to media and keeping the locker room closed
but i am still very shocked by the trade and also very rude to take away one of Mitch's friends who will he aggressively handshake now
Yeah, it probably makes sense from a cap space/draft pick perspective but STOP TAKING MITCH'S FRIENDS AWAY!
SCOROFEYEV TO THE RANGERS?!?!
Did they have Auston record several versions of that video message in case they didn't take McKenna?
They said that the pick would be announced by one of Toronto's most die-hard fans and I was really scared it was going to be Steve Dangle...
Soccer players are so funny, man. They get kicked in the leg and act like they just got shot.
Why are the Leafs seemingly so intent on getting rid of Matthew Knies?

i don't think anyone was a better story than mitch but unfortunately i think the entirety of game 6 didn't help, and in general the final round is usually weighted heavier than the ones before and also the player on the losing team is almost never awarded the conn smythe. mcdavid had 42 points in the playoffs when he got it which is quite extraordinary. if you look at the ballots you'll see that only like 2 people had mitch in 2nd place in the voting and that's it, which actually surprised me, i thought it'd be closer, which was perhaps naive of me. i don't personally think that's fair, it's an award for the playoffs, not the final round alone... but alas that's not how it works in practice. and yet... the eventual recipient had 12 points. twelve. what is the point of anything.
Yeah, it's really unfortunate that Vegas didn't play well in game 6. I think if it had been a closer game, Mitch may have had a better chance. It also sucks that they got shut-out in an elimination game because it's just fuelling the fire of salty Leafs bros who are still convinced that Mitch sucks in "important games" (apparently there was only 1 important game during these last 4 rounds, guys).
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY TRADED JOSEPH WOLL!?!?!?!?!
Even Hall would've made more sense than Staal at least I'd seen his name a bit more in the running
Why does this also feel a bit like the year Mitch didn't win the Selke and should have
I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all, but it feels like they thought Staal winning was a better story. He's 37, the Captain of the team, and just won the Cup. If the award was given to MVP of that particular round, it would make total sense. But, if you're going to have an award for MVP of the entire post-season, how do you not give it to the guy who led the League in points and had two hat tricks?
I feel like the fact that Marner was the front-runner for the Conn Smythe pretty much the entire post season and I only started hearing Staal's name in the last couple of weeks means that Marner was a more valuable player overall than Staal but hey what the fuck do I know...
I’m just glad Mitch has been and probably will continue to be the favourite for the Conn Smythe since super early in the playoffs because that’ll piss any salty leafs fans off almost, if not as much as a SC would lbr
number one scapegoat for playoffs failures then wins mvp?
Honestly, as much as I'd like him to with the Cup this year, I'd almost be happier with an individual accolade. The salty Leafs fans can easily turn a Cup win into a "team effort", but if he wins the Conn Smythe, it'll be way more difficult for them to create a fake narrative around how he didn't earn it himself.
They're already claiming that he was a no-show for game 5 and is going to shit the bed in game 6. Despite, y'know...this being the Stanley Cup Finals, he's the leading point scorer in the entire league and has been absolutely unreal for 4 rounds. But god forbid he gets any credit.
