Rain Drops and Tea
ezekielcaydengray:
The blond male quirked a brow as a soft smile played on his lips and he continued to move them around. The thing about Ezekiel was that no matter who or what a person is or does, so long as they called themselves a part of their life, he would go to extremes to make sure they were happy even if it was sometimes a little over the top and crazy.
But he held a gentle soul, one that had lived through a lot and never seemed to give up. His path in life had changed his perspective on many things, his values weren’t the same as they were when he was a child, but the one thing that did stay was his kindness and love for others. He was a rather selfless person, putting others before himself, even when they weren’t close to him.
Selflessness had been a thing he’d grown up with his whole life, and it had come to be a staple of his character, so to be told he was one of a kind was hard to accept. A low laugh left his lips and he gave a quiet hum in response before vocalizing his thoughts, “I don’t think I’m one of a kind, but I do try to be kind.” He murmured, slowly coming to a pause as the song ended, “But if you want to say I am, I won’t stop you.” He grinned, giving the other male a wink before grabbing a seat and gently pulling the other towards him, “So long as I’m the only one in your eyes, I think I could live in that limelight, even if no one else sees me like you do.” There’d been a point in his life where confidence and ego were all he was, and while he still had those traits, they were softer and much less vibrant than before.
He wasn’t going to be doing astounding things with his life and he was okay with the fact so long as he was happy. The one selfish thing he claimed was his happiness and that of those around him.
Lucas seemed to be a mess, but when he was around Ezekiel, everything seemed to disappear. Every God awful thing disappeared, and he wished he could’ve met the blond sooner. He sometimes had thoughts of doubt, but in situations like dancing in an empty bookstore, all of the doubts went away. It was a new thing for him, having such a curiosity for another person and wanting to learn everything about him.
When the song came to an end and they stopped dancing, a weak smile came across his lips as Zeke spoke and winked, turning around and landing himself in a spot beside the other. “But you are.” He protested quietly, glancing down as he intertwined their fingers together. “You’re unlike anyone I’ve met in this universe. I give you all the props in the world for it.” For making him believe that everything wasn’t as awful as he felt in his 22 years of life. “You’re one of a kind to me. Maybe not to everyone, but to me.” His voice seemed to get quieter, feeling a bit dumb for talking the way he was, but he couldn’t stop the words until it was too late. He hesitated for a moment, thinking of a way to counter the words, but nothing came into his mind. “Sorry.” He mumbled with a nervous laugh.
Luke’s whole life seemed to be a cycle of pain and neglect, and he hated that he had to feel like he needed to hold onto the good things. He didn’t want to believe that he had to feel that way. He may seem clingy, and that could be why he was deemed a lost cause early on, but when he finds the good in someone, he sticks to it until it disappears. He secretly hoped Zeke’s good wouldn’t disappear, but he never kept his hopes up in that sense. He hoped for far too long and nothing really changed in his life, so he made sure to not expect it at this point in it.
Ezekiel raised a hand to envelop Lucas' head gently, turning it slightly so he could give his forehead a kiss "I am grateful that you see me in such a good light, and I'll always try my best to keep it that way." He confessed, his fingers combing through the other's hair as he looked out the window and continued to hear the other male speak.
His head shook lightly despite, the other not being able to see him, "you don't have to apologize, I think your words are sweet and they make me happy. I don't care for how anyone else sees me, but you matter to me because you've chosen to spend moments of your life with me, and that matters. Your time is important and for me to waste it would be a shame, so I'm glad I'm not alone in feeling like my heart is about to explode from happiness whenever you're around." He whispered, aware that their words weren't the kind that people exchanged normally and somehow they felt like the were fragile and needed to be whispered. "It's like the sun engulfs everything we do together, my stomach becomes a jar of butterflies and I swear that whenever you smile, any worry or burden I carry is washed away because you're here and it gives me motivation to keep going." He thought out loud as he continued to stare out the window, his hand closing gently but firmly around the other's hand. "For once I can look into the future longer than tomorrow, and it's a wild thing to see myself with someone else for that long of time. So I'll keep trying to get there every day with you."

Lucas followed his gesture, going to the couch before flopping onto it. The silence was calm, but the rain gave the room just enough sound that he wouldn’t feel bad in a moments’ notice. He looked down and began fidgeting with his fingers as he waited for his boyfriend to return.
He pursed his lips as he heard a song begin to play, vaguely remembering the song - as it was once that Zeke had showed him in the beginning of their relationship. His head shot up when he heard footsteps, and hearing Zeke’s words, he laughed a bit. “Yeah.” He mumbled as he stood up, arms wrapped around his neck again. Lucas wasn’t the best dancer, but somehow Zeke made all of the insecurities go away.. that, and he let Zeke lead.
He listened quietly as Zeke responded, glad to hear the response from his lips. He was glad that he had a lot of things going in his life that were good, and somehow Lucas was a part of that and it was confusing but exciting. “That’s good.” He finally mumbled.
Luke almost forgot the question he asked until his mind registered Zeke’s answer. He almost felt lost in his brain for a moment as he spoke about what he wanted, and how he seemed to be in the majority of the answer. He didn’t know what he did to deserve such a person in his life. “You are one of a kind, you know that, right?” He asked in a whisper, the tune of the song seeming to connect to their movements as they danced.

A small smile came across Luke’s face at the joke that was vocalized, but before he was able to reply he heard the question. He felt nice to have it happen every day, it meant someone cared enough to check up on him. “I’m fine.” He replied, though leaving it as that. Even though they had been seeing each other for a while, he still had trouble saying what was on his mind. Instead, he retorted the question. “How are you?”
The simple sounds and homey feeling of the shop made him feel relaxed. He didn’t feel too relaxed a lot of the time, except for when he was at work or with Zeke. It was weird, as he felt like he shouldn’t have to rely on someone to feel relaxed, but he could only blame his life leading up to meeting Zeke. He felt like the man was the closest thing to home he’s had since being born.
Lucas’s mind wandered for a brief moment, debating his words before speaking. “If you could have one thing in the whole world, what would it be?” He asked, knowing it sounded stupid but he wanted to ask the question that had been on his mind. He didn’t know what to expect, but he knew he wanted to know. “It can be anything.” He added in a mumble.
Ezekiel didn't press and he was okay with the short reply. He knew that if Luke was ever in a serious struggle, there'd be a telltale sign. Slipping his hand, away from one of Luke's hips, he grabbed onto his arm and steered them toward the lounge area where he'd been seated at minutes ago.
He motioned for the dark-haired male to wait for a little, before walking over to the neon open sign that flashed "OPEN" and turning it off. His hands graced over the lid of the old vinyl player Pop's, the former owner, used to keep playing back when this store held an even bigger touch of the past. The vinyl collection proved it and he carefully took out an Ella Fitzgerald album, placing the needle to the song he was looking for. A gentle old tune with the name of Stairway to the Stars.
His movements had been gentle and quiet, and as the song began he stretched out a hand to Luke, a little grin playing on his lips, "Would you give me the honor of this dance?" He inquired, already taking his hand and waist to begin a soft swaying movement as their bodies were once again pressed together, dancing in a circle.
"I'm doing great." he eventually answered honestly, "I've got a wonderful job, a great boyfriend and all the time in the world to spend doing what I want. I'm blessed." he mused, never really one for religion, but felt the words leave him with sincerity.
"If I could have anything in the world?" He gave a sigh and shake of his head as he proceeded to answer, "I don't know... I have happiness, I'm loved, I can spend time with you whenever... Maybe I'd ask for more time... more time to spend with you... Maybe I'd be materialistic and ask for tons of money so I could give you anything you wanted without thinking twice... We would be able to go anywhere, no worries or cares..." He murmured, still moving their bodies to the tune of the song.
Rain Drops and Tea
lucasdavidscn:
The sound of the rain from outside, the warmth of the bookstore was a comforting sound for Lucas. He felt like there was a safety in the store, by just the colors illuminated from the walls, to the appearance of the many books covering the walls and stacked in rows. It was nice, and not something he could have very often. Any moment of comfort was enough for him.
He heard Ezekiel’s words as he was scouring the bookshelves. Even though he was into art more than books, he liked finding random things that interested him and took him out of his reality. It was nice, that books could do that.
It was seconds later that he felt arms around him, the feeling of the others face against the skin of his neck as he leaned into the touch. It was an amazing feeling to have someone like Zeke in his life; someone who didn’t treat him like a porcelain doll waiting to be shattered. “Y’know, rain is probably the most calming of all of the elements.” He said in a mumble, shifting to set the book back where he found it before turning around, still close to Zeke.
Once his chocolate hues found Zeke’s face, he seemed to melt. Everything about him seemed to make him melt and it was an amazing feeling. His arms rested lazily against the others shoulders and around his neck, leaning over to press a small kiss to his lips.
Ezekiel, gave a hum in reply to Luke’s words, feeling the soft press of lips against his own and he gave a quiet chuckle, “If agreeing gets me more kisses, then by all mean...” He joked, pulling away only slightly before wondering out loud, “How are you?”
It was a simple question, but could easily have a loaded answer and although most people wouldn’t bother with it, he made it a daily thing to ask.
The rain still pattered against the window panes and the slight wheezing noise of the coffee machine alerted the store to its lack of water, but at the moment where they stood, it was just one blond and a raven-haired male passing time and moments most other people couldn’t have and it gave what they had more value.
The calm of their actions right now and the quiet of the building allowed for a breath of fresh air despite not being outside. It was home away from home and it was all due to one man who was currently in his arms.
Rain Drops and Tea
@lucasdavidscn
Spring had begun a few days ago, bringing with it rain filled clouds that cast shadows all over town and had people huddled inside their home. With a content sigh, he sat in front of the window in the book store that had a view of the outside world. He watched as cars passed by, splashing water against the curb, saw people take shelter in the enclosed bus stop area that had a firmly built waiting area with a roof and seating.
His hands raised a steaming cup of tea to his lips as his blue hues continued to scan the area. He made sure to be careful he didn't spill any hot liquid on himself.
"It's pouring outside," He informed to the only other person in the bookstore with him. "I'm glad you don't have to work in this weather." He continued, gaze shifting to land on his boyfriend, setting aside his mug of tea and unfolding his limbs from where he was perched on the sofa placed for shoppers to stop and read.
The store had its own character, or so Ezekiel thought so. It was painted in warm tones of yellow, orange and brown. It smelled of books, leather and whatever beverage was brewing in the small cafe bar he'd recently put out for clients to buy and enjoy from.
With a hum he got up and made his way towards Luke, his arms stretching out to embrace the other male and hug him close from behind, face burying in the crook of his neck as he let the other's warm smell fill him with a form of joy only he could spark in the blond male.
